The present disclosure provides a method for the separation of a gas constituent from a gaseous mixture. The disclosure also provides polyethylene glycol disubstituted siloxane based solvents for use in the method. These solvents are of use for pre-combustion COcapture and are capable of replacing glycol-based solvents while offering operation at a higher temperature region. These solvents are also of use for generation of hydrogen from reformed natural gas or syngas, adjusting CO/Hratio for Coal & Biomass to Liquids, removal of COfrom syngas for coal & biomass to NH/Fertilizer, natural gas sweetening, and upgrading of landfill and biogas.

Di-substituted siloxane solvents for gas capture

Exemplary embodiments relate to methods for removal of COand other acid gases from gaseous fuels prior to combustion. Exemplary methods may be used for COcapture, Hpurification and natural gas sweetening. Exemplary methods use at least one ionic liquid that has excellent COsolubility, selectivity over hydrogen, low viscosity, and resistance to HS.

Sulfur tolerant hydrophobic ionic liquid solvent

The disclosure provides a gasification process for the production of a methane-rich syngas at temperatures exceeding 400&#xb0; C. through the use of an alkali hydroxide MOH, using a gasification mixture comprised of at least 0.25 moles and less than 2 moles of water for each mole of carbon, and at least 0.15 moles and less than 2 moles of alkali hydroxide MOH for each mole of carbon. These relative amounts allow the production of a methane-rich syngas at temperatures exceeding 400&#xb0; C. by enabling a series of reactions which generate Hand CH, and mitigate the reforming of methane. The process provides a methane-rich syngas comprised of roughly 20% (dry molar percentage) CHat temperatures above 400&#xb0; C., and may effectively operate within an IGFC cycle at reactor temperatures between 400-900&#xb0; C. and pressures in excess of 10 atmospheres.
