Methods and systems are provided for repairing a defective segment of a sensor array of a photon counting detector of a photon counting computed tomography (PCCT) imaging system. In one example, a method for a PCCT imaging system comprises dividing a segment of the sensor array into a plurality of sub-segments, wherein each sub-segment of the plurality of sub-segments is electrically coupled to a readout electronics, the readout electronics configured to calculate a photon count for the segment; generating a total photon count for the divided segment based on combined electrical signals produced at each sub-segment of the divided segment; and reconstructing an image based on the total photon count at the divided segment. A defect detected in the divided segment may be traced to a defective sub-segment, which may be isolated from the readout electronics, thereby increasing a quality of the reconstructed image.

Photon counting computed tomography (PCCT) detector sensor repair for increased sensor yield

Systems and methods are provided for increasing a quality of computed tomography (CT) images. In one embodiment, a computed tomography (CT) detector system comprises a layer of energy integrating detectors (EID) arranged below a layer of photon counting (PC) sensors with respect to an incoming x-ray, where a number of the PC sensors exceeds a number of the EID detectors; and an image processing unit configured to correct PC data using EID data, and denoise and increase a resolution of an image reconstructed from EID data and PC data using a deep learning convolutional neural network (CNN) trained on pairs of images, each pair of images including a target image reconstructed from a first signal from the layer of PC sensors, and an input image reconstructed from a second signal from the layer of EID detectors, the EID data and PC data acquired concurrently from a same patient ray path.

Systems and methods for computed tomography

A thermal management system and method for cooling a CT detector assembly of a CT imaging system. The thermal management system uses a combination of air cooling for the readout electronics of the CT detector assembly and liquid cooling for the X-ray sensors of the CT detector assembly. The hybrid air and liquid cooling systems and methods may be coupled together in the thermal management system and method to create a cooler temperature in the CT detector assembly. The CT detector assembly components may include CT detector modules, which may include X-ray sensors, readout electronics and other components.

In one example, a detector module of the array has a central slit separating a first tile from a second tile of the detector module. In one example, a detector module of the array has an X-ray sensor assembly coupled to an upper surface of a conductive block and at least one integrated circuit positioned in a recess of the conductive block below the X-ray sensor assembly. The detector module may further include a radiation blocker positioned between the X-ray sensor assembly and the at least one integrated circuit.

Methods and systems for a layered imaging detector

The present disclosure relates to the use of X-ray detector cassettes that may be abutted or overlapped to form a detector assembly suitable for imaging objects that are too large to image using a single X-ray detector cassette. Such a detector assembly may be customized in terms of the size and/or shape of the field-of-view (FOV). In certain embodiments the radiation-sensitive electronics (e.g., readout electronics) are positioned to the side of the X-ray detecting components (e.g., scintillator, TFT array, and so forth), allowing the cassette to be thin relative to other detector devices and allowing the electronics to remain outside the X-ray beam path.

A detector assembly positionable to receive X-rays from an X-ray source within an imaging system is provided. The detector assembly includes multiple detector elements. Various methods and systems are provided for an X-ray imaging system comprising an X-ray source, an X-ray detector array having a plurality of X-ray detecting elements configured to detect X-rays passing through an object configured to be scanned, a plurality of collimator plates positioned between the object to be scanned and the X-ray detector array, wherein one or more of the plurality of collimator plates comprises at least one bend at or in a region of a bottom end of the collimator plate, the bottom end facing the X-ray detecting elements of the X-ray imaging system. An imager panel for an x-ray detector for obtaining x-ray images of an object is provided that includes a first portion disposed at the center of the hybrid imager panel that can produce images of a first resolution and a second portion disposed at least partially around the first portion that is capable of producing images of a second resolution. The hybrid imager panel provides a hybrid detector that can be selectively operated to obtain images of varying resolutions corresponding to the first resolution from the first portion, the second resolution from the second portion or a combination thereof.

A system for verifying the integrity of a radiation detector is provided. the system includes one or more data modules, one or more data lines, and a controller. The one or more data lines electronically connect one or more detector elements of the radiation detector to the one or more data modules. The controller is operative to induce a voltage in the one or more detector elements, obtain a reading from the one or more detector elements via the one or more data modules; and determine whether the integrity of the radiation detector has been compromised based at least in part on comparing the reading to a benchmark.

The present invention provides a detector for medical diagnosis. The detector for diagnosis includes a photosensitive element, an X-beam stopping element, a supporting board, and a conductive liner. The photosensitive element is used for sensing an X-beam. The X-beam stopping element is used for stopping the X-beam from penetrating said photosensitive element. The supporting board is provided below the X-beam stopping element to be used for supporting said photosensitive element. The conductive liner is provided between said photosensitive element and said supporting board to fit with said photosensitive element.

An x-ray detector, system and related method are described wherein a light redirection layer is provided and used to redirect light, converted from x-rays by a scintillator, to at least one pixel. The light redirection layer comprises at least one light redirecting cell comprising a channel and a light reflecting region, wherein the channel is arranged relative to the at least one pixel to direct the incoming light away from a non-light sensitive part of the at least one pixel and toward the light sensitive part of the at least one pixel.

An imaging system and detector for obtaining x-ray images of a region of interest (ROI) within an object is provided that does not require movement of the detector and/or object/patient for alignment with the x-ray source. The detector is formed with an array of detector elements disposed on a substrate that has an area larger than the area of the objects/patients to be imaged. In use, the object/patient is positioned between the x-ray source and the detector and the x-ray source is targeted at the ROI. The control mechanism determines the area of the detector aligned with the x-ray source and ROI and operates the selected detector elements in the area struck by the x-rays from the source passing through the ROI of the object/patient. The control mechanism receives image data from the area of the detector formed by the detector elements in order to form images of the ROI.

An x-ray detector comprises: a housing, including a cover fastened on a flange of a flanged base and forming a semi-hermetic seal therebetween, the flanged base including a bottom surface and the flange surrounding a perimeter of the bottom surface; and an x-ray imager positioned on the bottom surface, the x-ray imager including a wireless transmitter, wherein the seal semi-hermetically encloses the x-ray imager in the housing, and is positioned nonadjacently to surfaces in contact with the x-ray imager. In this way, a simpler and less costly seal for a digital x-ray panel can be provide; furthermore, the seal is reusable and resealable, facilitating repair and refurbishment of the device.
