Logically-defined pixel interfaces and video frame transfer techniques are provided herein. In one example, a method includes receiving a video frame representing source pixels, where the video frame comprises logical pixels that each represent more than one source pixel according to a selected sizing and metadata that indicates the selected sizing for the logical pixels and indicators of which pixels included in the video frame comprise the logical pixels. The method also includes interpreting the metadata for the logical pixels to map each of the logical pixels across more than one output pixel according to the selected sizing and the indicators included in the metadata.

Video frame interfaces for logically-defined pixels

Variable pixel rate video output and display techniques for computing systems and user devices are presented herein. In one example, a method of providing video data for display on a display device includes determining logical pixels with variable sizing that each represent one or more source pixels comprising at least a portion of a video frame. The method also includes producing metadata describing the variable sizing for the logical pixels, and transferring the metadata with data representing the logical pixels over a display interface for display of at least the portion of the video frame on the display device that maps the logical pixels across target pixels of the display device.

Variable pixel rate display interfaces

A sensor manager provides dynamic input fusion using thermal imaging to identify and segment a region of interest. Thermal overlay is used to focus heterogeneous sensors on regions of interest according to optimal sensor ranges and to reduce ambiguity of objects of interest. In one implementation, a thermal imaging sensor locates a region of interest that includes an object of interest within predetermined wavelengths. Based on the thermal imaging sensor input, the regions each of the plurality of sensors are focused on and the parameters each sensor employs to capture data from a region of interest are dynamically adjusted. The thermal imaging sensor input may be used during data pre-processing to dynamically eliminate or reduce unnecessary data and to dynamically focus data processing on sensor input corresponding to a region of interest.

Region of interest segmentation

The claimed subject matter relates to various architectures that can, inter alia, facilitate creation of a synch file as well as facilitate interpretation of the synch file. Both creation and interpretation can be accomplished in conjunction with an original media asset. The synch file can include transformation commands that can operate on a presentation of the asset rather than upon the asset itself. Accordingly, what is actually perceived by a content consumer during a presentation of the asset need not be exactly what the asset creator fixed in a tangible medium. Rather, the content consumer can observe a derivative media presentation based upon interpretation of the synch file.

The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can obtain biometric data from a user as the user interacts with a device. Based upon the obtained biometric data, the architecture can determine an identity of the user and automatically apply settings associated with that particular user to the device. The settings can relate to a physical configuration of the device (or aspects, features, and/or peripherals of the device), as well as to a data set employed by the device (or components of the device). As such, a user of the device can benefit from enhanced efficiency, utility, and/or convenience.

A CPU module includes a host element configured to perform a high-level host-related task, and one or more data-generating processing elements configured to perform a data-generating task associated with the high-level host-related task. Each data-generating processing element includes logic configured to receive input data, and logic configured to process the input data to produce output data. The amount of output data is greater than an amount of input data, and the ratio of the amount of input data to the amount of output data defines a decompression ratio. In one implementation, the high-level host-related task performed by the host element pertains to a high-level graphics processing task, and the data-generating task pertains to the generation of geometry data (such as triangle vertices) for use within the high-level graphics processing task. The CPU module can transfer the output data to a GPU module via at least one locked set of a cache memory. The GPU retrieves the output data from the locked set, and periodically forwards a tail pointer to a cacheable location within the data-generating elements that informs the data-generating elements of its progress in retrieving the output data.

System and method for parallel execution of data generation tasks

Systems and methods for providing multi-pass rendering of three-dimensional objects. A rendering pipeline that includes (N) physical texture units and one or more associated buffers emulates a rendering pipeline containing more texture units (M) than are physically present (N). Multiple rendering passes are performed for each pixel. During each texture pass only N sets of texture coordinates are passed to the texture units. The number of passes required through the pipeline to emulate M texture units is M/N, rounded up to the next integer. The N texture units of the rendering pipeline perform look-ups on a given pass for the corresponding N texture maps. The texture values obtained during the texture passes are blended by texture blenders to provide composite texture values. In successive passes, the buffers are used for temporary data and the most current composite texture values. The process is repeated until all desired texture maps are applied.

Applying multiple texture maps to objects in three-dimensional imaging processes

Systems and methods for providing multi-pass rendering of three-dimensional objects. A rendering pipeline is used that includes one or more (N) physical texture units and one or more associated frame buffers to emulate a rendering pipeline containing more texture units (M) than are actually physically present (N). Multiple rendering passes are performed for each pixel of a frame. During each texture pass for each pixel of a frame, only N sets of texture coordinates are passed to the texture units. The number of passes required through the pipeline to emulate M texture units is M/N, rounded up to the next integer number of passes. The N texture units of the rendering pipeline perform the look-ups on a given pass for the correspondingly bound N texture maps. The texture values obtained during the texture passes for each pixel are blended by complementary texture blenders to provide composite texture values for each of the pixels of the frame. In successive passes, the frame buffers are used to support any necessary extra temporary data and to store the most current composite texture values for all of the pixels of the frame. The process is repeated until all desired texture maps are applied in order to render the desired three-dimensional object.

A system and method of selecting a level of detail in a texture-mapping system. Pixels are processed in a zig-zag traversal pattern to allow determination of vertical and horizontal change values in texture map coordinates. In this manner, accurate level of detail selection is achieved without unduly reducing efficiency or throughput of the graphics system.
