An automatic transfer switch includes a motor and a drive shaft rotatable by the motor. The automatic transfer switch includes a gear rotatable by the drive shaft. The automatic transfer switch includes a pin attached to, and movable with, the gear. The pin is offset from the central axis of the gear. The automatic transfer switch includes a bracket rotatable around the central axis of the gear and connected to an output shaft. The bracket is rotatable separately from the gear. Upon rotation of the bracket, the output shaft rotates. The bracket has at least a first source position and a second source position and the first and second source positions are different. The automatic transfer switch includes a module connected to the output shaft. The module includes at least one movable electrical contact which moves upon rotation of the output shaft.

Transfer switch contactor mechanism

A trip mechanism for a fuse includes a trip unit disposed within an elongated housing of the fuse, and a processor. The trip unit includes a fuse element and an actuator for severing the fuse element. The processor is in electrical communication with the trip unit, and is adapted to monitor electrical current. Responsive to the processor detecting a predetermined prescribed electrical current, the processor is adapted to signal the actuator to sever the fuse element. The processor is programmable to selectively adjust the predetermined prescribed electrical current, thereby enabling the fuse to have a plurality different current ratings.

Fuse and trip mechanism therefor

A fuse includes a body, a first conductive terminal coupled with a first end of the body, and a second conductive terminal coupled with a second end of the body. The body, the first conductive terminal, and the second conductive terminal define an exterior of the fuse. The fuse also includes an interruption assembly including a fusible element. The fusible element includes carbon fiber, is disposed on a conductive path between the first conductive terminal and the second conductive terminal, and is configured to break when a current through the fusible element exceeds a predetermined current.

A trip mechanism for a fuse includes a trip unit disposed within an elongated housing of the fuse, and a processor. The trip unit includes a fuse element and an actuator for severing the fuse element, The processor is in electrical communication with the trip unit, and is adapted to monitor electrical current. A circuit breaker for a transformer includes means for interrupting circuitry in the transformer upon a fault condition in the transformer (the 'fault interruption means'). The circuit breaker also includes means for interrupting the circuitry when a level of dielectric fluid in a tank of the transformer is unacceptably low (the 'low oil trip means'). The fault interruption means includes a magnet, metal element, and first actuator. Upon the fault condition, the magnet and metal element separate, moving the first actuator to cause the electrical circuitry to open. The low oil trip means includes a float, insulating rod, and second actuator. When the dielectric fluid level drops to an unacceptably low level, the float and insulating rod drop, moving the second actuator to cause the circuitry to open. The low oil trip means operates independently of the fault interruption means, opening the circuitry without separating the magnet and metal element.

Low force low oil trip mechanism

A fault interrupter and load break switch includes a trip assembly configured to automatically open a transformer circuit electrically coupled to stationary contacts of the switch upon the occurrence of a fault condition. The fault condition causes a Curie metal element electrically coupled to at least one of the stationary contacts to release a magnetic latch. The release causes a trip rotor of the trip assembly to rotate a rotor assembly. This rotation causes ends of a movable contact of the rotor assembly to electrically disengage the stationary contacts, thereby opening the circuit. The switch also includes a handle for manually opening and closing the electrical circuit in fault and non-fault conditions. Actuation of the handle coupled to the rotor assembly via a spring-loaded rotor causes the movable contact ends to selectively engage or disengage the stationary contacts.
