A motion-defect-free assembly and a method of minimizing cleaning apparatus induced motion quality disturbances in a moving belt photoreceptor of a toner image reproduction machine are provided. The assembly for practicing the method includes at least one resilient member located to each side of the moving belt photoreceptor at a desired belt cleaning station along a path of movement of the belt photoreceptor, and a cleaning apparatus that is mounted at the cleaning station and that includes at least one separately moveable cleaning member. The cleaning apparatus also includes a moveable frame having frame locating members, and the at least one separately moveable cleaning member. The motion-defect-free assembly also includes a drive and control system for first moving the moveable frame into contact with each of the locating members and for then separately moving, relative to the moveable frame, the at least one separately moveable cleaning member into contact and cleaning engagement with the moving belt photoreceptor, thereby minimizing cleaning apparatus induced motion quality disturbances in the moving belt photoreceptor.

Electrostatographic reproduction machine having a motion-defect-free cleaning method and assembly

A light collector for directing light to a concentrated area on a target surface such as for use with a linear LED array used as an erase lamp in an electrophotographic printer. The collector includes a compound cylinder lens supported by a pair of reflecting members. The reflecting members reflect light rays from the LED array to the cylinder lens. The cylinder lens includes a lower surface for capturing the reflected light rays and a tongue extending from the lower surface for capturing light rays directly from the LED array. The cylinder lens directs and concentrates the captured light rays in a narrow line on a target surface. A plurality of cross-ribs extend between the first and second reflecting members to specularly reflect light beams from the LED array.

Light collector for an LED array

The cylinder lens includes a lower surface for capturing the reflected light rays and a tongue extending from the lower surface for capturing light rays directly from the LED array. The cylinder lens directs and concentrates the captured light rays in a narrow line on a target surface.

An apparatus, method and printing machine that utilizes a ramped backer and/or a shock absorbing material in a cleaner subsystem to reduce or prevent photoreceptor motion quality disturbances. The shock absorbing material prevents an instantaneous high impact force between the spacer wheel and the photoreceptor backer bar that can cause photoreceptor motion quality disturbance. The ramped backer prevents the instantaneous deceleration of the spacer wheel with the backer that causes motion quality disturbance due to the shaking of the photoreceptor belt from the impact on contact. The combination of the shock absorbing material and the ramped backer create a preferred embodiment to prevent photoreceptor motion quality disturbance by the cleaner system.

A circuit for concurrently producing regulated high-voltage a.c. current and automatically varying d.c. current on one output line, where all adjustment and regulation is accomplished in low-voltage circuits, power supply being particularly useful as the power source for copier and duplicator corotrons. The basic wave shape is a rectangular wave which is amplified and regulated for application as the a.c. input to a corotron. The corotron itself is used as the rectifier for the d.c. bias current, and while the nominal d.c. bias is fixed by adjusting the duty cycle of the rectangular wave to a fixed value, the actual d.c. bias current will vary in accordance with atmospheric conditions and paper thickness, which is desirable for the proper operation of copier and duplicator corotrons. The adjusted duty cycle of the rectangular wave determines the nominal d.c. bias current. This is because the part of the corotron input wave shape which has the shorter duration must have the higher amplitude, and current in the corotron increases with voltage.

In an electrostatographic copier wherein the fuser rolls are positioned closer than the dimensions of the copy sheet from the image transfer area, speed mismatch compensation between the fuser roll nip and the initial image support surface is provided by intentionally driving the fuser roll nip at a different pre-set velocity to form a buckle in the intermediate portion of the copy sheet controlled by selective cyclic reductions in the vacuum applied to a vacuum chamber sheet guide surface between the fuser nip and the initial image support surface, wherein the vacuum guide is in two areas, one of which is provided with a vacuum by the other, but is cyclically atmospherically vented.
