System for storing and dispensing liquid in a digital microfluidic chip includes a plurality of reservoir electrodes defining a reservoir having an outlet and a first end opposite the outlet, the reservoir configured to be in fluidic communication with at least one device electrode proximate the outlet, the at least one device electrode and at least one of the plurality of reservoir electrodes configured to generate electrical actuation forces to dispense at least one droplet from the reservoir through the outlet. The plurality of reservoir electrodes include a first reservoir electrode proximate the first end, a reservoir outlet electrode proximate the outlet, and at least one intermediate reservoir electrode disposed between the first electrode and the reservoir outlet electrode. The first reservoir electrode, the reservoir outlet electrode, and the at least one intermediate reservoir electrode each has an electrode surface area in plan view greater than or equal to an electrode surface area of each of the at least one device electrodes.

Devices and methods for fluid actuation

Digital microfluidic and analyte detection device includes a first substrate and a second substrate aligned generally parallel to each other with a gap defined therebetween in side view. At least one of the first and second substrates has an electrode array configured to generate electrical actuation forces to urge at least one droplet within the gap along the at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate. The electrode array has a plurality of electrodes defining an electrode array area in plan view. At least one of the first substrate and the second substrate has a well array defining a well array area in plan view. The well array area is bounded within the electrode array area and overlapping a portion of each of the plurality of electrodes. The well array area overlaps less than 75% of the electrode array area in plan view.

Devices and methods for sample analysis

In some embodiments, a wound dressing that incorporates a number of sensors or sensors separate from the wound dressing can be utilized in order to monitor characteristics of a wound as it heals or to identify one or more risk factors or conditions that may precipitate a wound. In some implementations, a wound dressing configured to be positioned in contact with a wound includes a substantially flexible substrate supporting one or more sensors. The one or more sensors can include temperature sensors, conductivity sensors, multispectral optical measurements sensors, pH sensors, pressure sensors, colorimetric sensors, optical sensors, ultraviolet (UV) sensors, or infrared (IR) sensors.

Sensor enabled wound monitoring and therapy apparatus

The step of applying an alternating magnetic field includes the step of triggering application of the alternating magnetic field when the sample is located at a position (P) within the interrogation zone () with the current amplitude at its maximum.

Method for triggering NMR measurement in a NMR check weighing system

A magnetic flow meter includes a cylindrical vessel within which electrodes are placed directly opposite each other about a magnetically permeable core. In that way, two flow channels are obtained in the vessel. A common magnetic field is applied across both flow channels. The magnetic flow meter is used in conjunction with a controller which monitors amplitude modulated signals representative of applied magnetic field and induced electric field. These amplitude modulated signals are passed to Sigma-Delta modulators, which directly digitise the amplitude modulated AC signals into digital pulses. The controller is capable of monitoring reverse flow through the meter, and to store results until forward flow resumes. Moreover, the controller generates a driving signal for coils which generates a magnetic field, the coil being placed in conjunction with a capacitor which causes resonance. This reduces power consumption by the coil in driving the meter.
