A processor may determine, for each subdevice of a set of subdevices of a storage enclosure device, one or more reliability measures of the subdevice. A processor may determine, based at least on the one or more reliability measures for the subdevices and a spatial layout rule, a set of striping groups that maximizes a reliability of the set of subdevices of the storage enclosure device, each of the striping groups including a respective subset of the set of subdevices, wherein the spatial layout rule prescribes a geometric layout of the subdevices within striping groups across the storage enclosure device. A processor may store output data of a data striping operation to a particular subset of subdevices associated with a particular striping group of the set of striping groups.

The technology disclosed herein pertains to a method for mobile storage device registration to a management domain using a random token and a pin. In at least one implementation, a technology disclosed herein provides a method of authenticating a device on a system, the method including generating a random token, displaying the random token to a user, communicating the random token to an authentication system portal, in response the authentication system portal validating the random token receiving a PIN from the user, and communicating the PIN to the authentication system portal, and receiving a portal IP address and a certificate of authentication from the authentication system portal.

Device registration to management domain

A method includes importing an object into a first data storage device, obtaining static metadata relating to the object, and obtaining dynamic metadata relating to the importation of the object. The static metadata and the dynamic metadata are hashed to create a block hash for the object and the importation of the object. The imported object and the block hash are stored in the first data storage device.

A data storage system can employ multiple concurrent domains with data storage devices each having a single data port. The data storage system may connect a number of hosts to a data storage device via a network controller, an expander, and an expander module with the data storage device having a single data port. A first data domain and a second data domain are each established from the network controller to the data storage device with the first data domain being independent of the second data domain. At least one illegal loop can be identified between the first data domain and the second data domain with the expander module and subsequently corrected with the expander as directed by the expander module.
