A method, apparatus, computer-readable medium, and/or system may comprise a server having a first processor, a database, and first memory storing computer-executable instructions. The system may comprise a self-service device having a second processor, a plurality of sensors configured to capture images, and second memory storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the second processor, cause the self-service device to detect a start of user activity at the self-service device. In response to detecting the start of the user activity at the self-service device, the self-service device may capture, by one or more of the plurality of sensors, a plurality of images of the user activity at the self-service device. The self-service device may detect an end of the user activity at the self-service device. In response to detecting the end of the user activity at the self-service device, the self-service device may generate data indicative of the user activity at the self-service device. The data indicative of the user activity at the self-service device may comprise the plurality of images of the user activity captured by the one or more of the plurality of sensors. The self-service device may establish a connection between the self-service device and the server. The self-service device may transmit, to the server and via the established connection, the data indicative of the user activity at the self-service device.

A method and apparatus for providing redundancy in an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) is provided. Application software may be run on top of a virtual environment such as a virtual machine and/or a virtual disk environment. Should a software component fail, the virtual environment will 'crash' but the ATM hardware and operating system will remain intact. If the software is fatally flawed&#x2014;e.g., due to a faulty 'upgrade' the older version may be &#x201c;rolled back&#x201d; from a previously stored virtual environment.

Method and apparatus for redundancy in an ATM using hot swap hardware underlying a virtual machine

Systems, apparatus, and computer program products provide for monitoring an area within or proximate to a place of business for digital signatures of mobile communication devices, such as cellular devices or wearable communication devices. The captured digital signatures are then matched to digital signatures associated with existing customers of the business to determine the presence of the existing customer within or proximate to the place of business. Once the presence of the existing customer within or proximate to the business is known, the business can access other relevant information, such as customer profile information, prior transaction/interaction information or the like to enhance the customer's current interaction with the business. Moreover, once the presence of the existing customer is known, location determining mechanisms may implemented to track the location of the known customer within or proximate to the place of business for the purpose of positively identifying the known customer.

Determination of customer presence based on communication of a mobile communication device digital signature

A method for predicting failure in an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) is provided. The method may include using a database to store information relating to the performance of a component function by an ATM component. The information may include normal performance information and fault information. The method may further include using a computational module to calculate a fault rate for the ATM component. The method may also include using a processor to compare the calculated fault rate to a threshold value associated with the component function. In the event that the fault rate exceeds the threshold value, the processor may initiate a request for service of the ATM component.

Predictive fault resolution

A method and apparatus for providing redundancy in an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) is provided. The hardware platform of the ATM is configured to tolerate removal of a portion of the hardware as well as insertion of a portion of the hardware without removing power from the ATM. The insertion and replacement of hardware to a powered device is termed a 'hot swap'. A hot swap may be necessitated by the failure or the upgrade of a hardware component. The hot swap is detected by a software program running on top of the hardware platform. The software program may reintegrate the replacement hardware including the location of 'drivers' for the replacement software. In addition, application software may be run on top of a virtual environment such as a virtual machine and/or a virtual disk environment. Should a software component fail, the virtual environment will &#x201c;crash&#x201d; but the ATM hardware and operating system will remain intact. If the software is fatally flawed&#x2014;e.g., due to a faulty &#x201c;upgrade&#x201d; the older version may be &#x201c;rolled back&#x201d; from a previously stored virtual environment.

Methods and apparatus according to the invention are directed towards providing apparatus for targeting network problems. Such apparatus may include a database configured to store a workload. The apparatus may also include a transmitter configured to transmit the workload to a CPU included in an ATM via a telecommunications network. The workload may include instructions to (1) execute a script, (2) record an output generated from the execution of the script, and (3) transmit the recorded output via the telecommunications network to a receiver. The apparatus may further include the receiver being configured to receive the transmitted recorded output via the telecommunications network.

A method of rolling back software in an automatic teller machine is provided. The automatic teller machine includes at least one computer and at least one software program running on the at least one computer. The at least one software program includes at least one virtual environment. The method includes detecting the failure of at least on software component running on the at least one computer. The method further includes restoring a previous version of the software. Finally, the method includes activating the restored software.
