A dispensing closure () for a fluent substance-containing system, such as a container, includes a body () for receiving the fluent substance from the system, a locking member () assembled with the body (), and a pivotable actuator () assembled with the locking member () and defining a dispensing flow passage () for discharging the fluent substance. The locking member () is rotatable relative to the body () from a locking position to an unlocking position to permit a user to pivot the actuator () from a closed position to a dispensing, open position. The body () has a pair of abutments () that extend through the locking member () in the locking position to prevent the actuator () from moving into the open position. In the unlocking position of the locking member (), the actuator () is not prevented by the abutments () from moving into the open position.

Dispensing closure

A dispensing closure () includes a body () for being located at the opening of a container () defining a central axis () and having a pour spout (). The body () including a crushable seal () surrounding the pour spout (), and the body () including a lateral projection () extending therefrom. The closure () includes a closing element () for being removably attached to the body () and having a lateral projection () extending therefrom. The closing element () and the body () have a closed condition in which the crushable seal () seals between the closing element () and the body () and the lateral projections () are confronting to inhibit separation of the closing element () away from the body () along the central axis ().

Dispensing closure for a container

A closure () includes a closure body () defining a first latch portion () and a lid () connected to the body () movable between (i) a closed position, and (ii) an open position. The lid includes a flexible, recessed press portion () defining a second latch portion (). The closure body () and the lid () have (i) a latched configuration with the lid () in the closed position wherein the first latch portion () and the second latch portion () are oriented in a confronting relationship to prevent the lid () from moving into its open position, and (ii) an unlatched configuration with the lid () in the closed position wherein the recessed press portion () is deflected inwardly to move the second latch portion () out of the confronting relationship with the first latch portion () to permit the lid () to move from its closed position.

Closure for a container

A dispensing closure () for a fluent substance-containing system, such as a container, includes a body () for receiving the fluent substance from the system, a locking member () assembled with the body (), and a pivotable actuator () assembled with the locking member () and defining a dispensing flow passage () for discharging the fluent substance. The locking member () is rotatable relative to the body () from a locking position to an unlocking position to permit a user to pivot the actuator () from a closed position to a dispensing, open position. The body () has an abutment () that extends through the locking member () in the locking position to prevent the actuator () from moving into the open position. In the unlocking position of the locking member (), the actuator () is not prevented by the abutment () from being moved into the open position.

A dispensing closure system (A,B,C,D) is provided with a peripheral wall or closure body (A,B,C,D) for extending from a container. In one form of the system, at least one lid (orA orA/B orB/D orD) includes a latch post (D) for being received in a latch aperture (D) in a rim (D) of the peripheral wall (A,B,C,D) to increase the opening resistance of the lid. In another form of the system, two lids (andA andA/B andB/D andD) are molded with the body (A,B,C,D) as a unitary structure, and the lids are closable over two openings (A,A/B,B/C,C/D,D).

A toggle-action dispensing closure for a container is provided for manipulation between a closed, non-dispensing orientation and an open, dispensing orientation. The closure includes an actuator pivotally mounted along a tilting axis on a body secured to the container. The actuator is tiltable by applying force to the actuator on one side of the tilting axis so as to move the actuator from a non-dispensing position to a dispensing position. The actuator includes a flange having an engagable surface. The closure body includes an annular wall in which the actuator is received, and the annular wall includes an inwardly projecting interference member which underlies the actuator engagable surface and prevents tilting of the actuator unless a sufficient predetermined, initial opening force is exerted on the actuator to cause permanent, plastic deformation of the engagable surface is and/or interference member. Thereafter, the actuator can be tilted to the open dispensing position a second or subsequent times in response to subjecting the actuator to a force less than the predetermined, initial opening force.

Toggle-action dispensing closure with an actuation-prevention system incorporating permanent deformation

A toggle-action dispensing closure for a container is provided for manipulation between a closed, non-dispensing orientation and an open, dispensing orientation. The closure includes an actuator pivotally mounted along a tilting axis on a body secured to the container. The actuator is tiltable by applying force to the actuator on one side of the tilting axis so as to move the actuator from a non-dispensing position to a dispensing position. The actuator includes a striker rib extending downwardly at a position between an edge of the actuator and the tilting axis. The body includes a deck defining a dispensing aperture and supporting a post. The post extends vertically to underlie the actuator, preventing tilting of the actuator unless a sufficient opening force is exerted on the actuator to cause the striker rib to shear, or permanently deform, the post. One embodiment includes an angled fracture control surface at the bottom of the post to ensure that the initial minimum required force to shear the post is within a desired range.
