A system for controlling power distribution within a vehicular communication network, including a power source equipment comprising a first port in communication with a network node module of a device, and a Power over Ethernet (POE) management module. The POE management module is configured to enable POE to the device via the first port, monitor a current draw of the device, determine whether the current draw of the device exceeds a threshold, and disable POE to the device, responsive to determining that the current draw exceeds the threshold.

Multi-level video processing within a vehicular communication network

A vehicle control module includes a vehicle device and a vehicle network interface. The vehicle device is operable to perform a vehicle function. The vehicle network interface facilitates communication regarding the vehicle function between the vehicle device and a vehicle network fabric in accordance with a global vehicle network communication protocol.

Unified vehicle network frame protocol

A network may include multiple allocations. The allocations may include: a first allocation encompassing central infrastructure, such as central office servers, data centers, or other core infrastructure; an second allocation encompassing gateway elements or other central consumer premises network infrastructure; and a third allocation encompassing nodes, such as client devices, terminals, or other nodes. A virtualization management engine may coordinate resources from the various allocations to support virtual functions distributed over multiple allocations of the network. The virtualization management engine may determine the distribution across the allocations for the virtual functions. The virtualization management engine may be implemented as a virtual function and be distributed across the allocations of the network.

System for network-based reallocation of functions

A system for determining the servicing needs of a vehicle. In various embodiments, the system includes a remote server and a vehicle control module of the vehicle. The vehicle control module includes a first communication interface to enable communications with at least one vehicle device via a network fabric of the vehicle. The vehicle control module is configured to receive status data, from the vehicle device, relating to a performance status or operational status of the vehicle. The vehicle control module further includes a second communication interface that enables wireless communications with the remote server. The wireless communications include sending status data to the remote server. The remote server is configured to receive and interpret the status data to determine if the vehicle requires service, and send a response to the vehicle. When service is required, the response may cause the vehicle to provide a service indication.

Managing devices within a vehicular communication network

A vehicular communication device and method for communicating with a remote server. In various embodiments, the vehicular communication device receives a plurality of device packets from a vehicle device(s) via a vehicular communication network, including device packets having a first priority and device packets having a second priority. Processing circuitry of the vehicular communication device determines the respective priorities of the received device packets based upon the contents of the packets, and queues at least some of the received device packets (and/or informational packets derived therefrom) in accordance with the respective priorities. The queued packets are output to a remote server for processing. The vehicular communication device receives responsive content from the remote server, which may include safety content, a servicing notice and/or targeted commercial content.

Vehicle network node module

A system and method for performing vehicle safety processing within a vehicle includes determining whether a driver is present in a vehicle, receiving driver sensed data, processing the driver sensed data to recognize a safety issue. The method continues by determining if the driver sensed data also indicates an externally sensed safety issue. For the driver sensed data without the externally sensed safety issue, the method includes generating one or more control signals to activate a driver awareness measure. For the driver sensed data with an externally sensed safety issue, the method includes activating auto safety precaution measures, determining whether the auto safety measures were successful in avoiding an accident, and, if not, recording the driver sensed data in a one-time programmable (OTP) memory device.

A system includes service management circuitry to dynamically deploy a plurality of service agents in response to dynamic assembly of a corresponding chain of services that each provide different service functionality. The different service functionality can be provided to an operational network device by different respective network devices over a network. The system can include network interface circuitry to transmit the service agents over the network to monitor performance of the respective network devices providing respective services included in the chain of services. The network interface circuitry can receive service performance information from each of the service agents. The performance information can include information indicative of the performance of the respective network devices. The service management circuitry can analyze the received service performance information and manage the chain of services.

Network function virtualization management system

A device that implements hybrid beamforming may include at least one processor configured to determine a first beam setting based on a first set of criteria associated with a first user device. The at least one processor may be configured to form a first beam based on the first beam setting using at least one digital beamforming circuit and at least one radio frequency (RF) beamforming circuit. The at least one processor may be configured to transmit, via first antenna elements, the first beam to the first user device.

Multi-layered hybrid beamforming

A system for performing multi-level video processing within a vehicle includes a pre-processing module for determining an encoding mode and enabling one or more levels of encoding based on the encoding mode. The pre-processing module further receives a video stream from a camera attached to the vehicle via a vehicular communication network and encodes the video stream based on the encoding mode to produce a packet stream output. The system further includes a video decoder for receiving the packet stream output and decoding the packet stream output in accordance with the encoding mode to produce a decoded video output.

A device that implements proactive beamforming while in motion may include at least one processor configured to establish communication with a first base station via a first beam. The at least one processor may be configured to monitor motion of at least one of: the device, the first base station, or a second base station. The at least one processor may be configured to determine that the device is approaching a second base station based at least in part on the monitored motion. The at least one processor may be configured to form a second beam in a direction of the second base station. The at least one processor may be configured to establish communication with the second base station via the second beam and terminate the first beam with the first base station upon establishing communication with the second base station via the second beam.

Proactive beamforming while in motion

A network function virtualization security and trust system includes a network device that operates as a virtualized network device with virtualized services provided on the network device by network nodes included in the system. Security and trust within the system can include hardware authentication of the network nodes and the network device to obtain a level of security of the hardware provisioning the operation of the virtualized services. Security and trust can also include authentication of the services being used on the virtualized network device. Services authentication can be based on monitoring and analysis of the cooperative operation of the services in the virtualized network device. The virtualized services can be dynamically changed, added or stopped. Hardware authentication and dynamic services authentication in accordance with changes in the virtualized services can dynamically maintain a level of security across the devices and the virtualized services.

Network function virtualization security and trust system

A vehicle network node module includes device buffers, a network buffer, a switch circuit, and a processing module. The device buffers temporarily store outgoing device packets from, and temporarily store incoming device packets for, vehicle devices in accordance with a locally managed prioritization scheme. The network buffer receives incoming network packets from, and outputs the outgoing network packets to, a vehicle network fabric in accordance with a global vehicle network protocol. The network buffer also temporarily stores the incoming network packets and the outgoing network packets in accordance with the locally managed prioritization scheme. The switching circuit selectively couples the network buffer to individual ones of the device buffers in accordance with the locally managed prioritization scheme. The processing module interprets the outgoing device packets and the incoming network packets to determine types of packets and determines the locally managed prioritization scheme based on the types of packets.
