A device for mounting one or more electric motors to a kayak or a small non-powered vessel, whereby a rotatable assembly is mounted on the gunnel of the vessel on either the port or starboard side, or both. The rotatable assembly includes an axle and an adjustable arm rotatably mounted thereon, with a motor on the end of the adjustable arm The rotatable assembly may be manipulated to move the motor(s) into or out of the water and lock in either position. The adjustable arm allows the motor to be adjusted in the pitch, yaw, and roll orientations. The motor(s) are powered by a battery and controlled by a hand-held unit that allows the motors to be independently operated.

A doctor blade assembly for the developer unit of an electrophotographic imaging system. The doctor blade assembly includes a blade member having a first longitudinal edge for contacting a developer roll of an imaging system; a bracket member operatively connected to the blade member; and at least one bias member having a first end portion along a first longitudinal end portion of the bracket member and a second end portion contacting a distal portion of the blade member so as to present a force thereon. The force presented by the bias member serves as a counterforce to at least partly offset a force presented on the doctor blade and developer roll by a seal member of the developer unit.

A rotating cover on the developer unit of an imaging apparatus to prevent toner leaks from the toner entry port of the developer unit. When installing a toner cartridge, the cartridge contacts a surface to cause the cover to rotate to an open position, thereby exposing the toner port for receiving toner. Conversely, when the toner cartridge is removed the cover is rotated into a closed position with the aid of a torsion spring so as to seal the toner entry port of the developer unit.

An end seal for use in an image forming apparatus that provides increased contact pressure using projecting ribs at nip locations formed between an end of a roll and the ends of other components such as a doctor blade or flap seal and lower contact pressure along the end of the roll. Contact pressure may be varied by changing the thickness along portions of the projecting ribs or the use of transverse ribs between each of the projecting ribs and a second surface of the end seal.

A cartridge for containing toner material used in an image-forming device according to one example embodiment includes a developer roll, two J-seals that provide interfaces with the developer roll at the ends thereof, and an air duct that conducts airflow across the interfaces to cool the developer roll and seals. The air duct is an unitary structure including an elongated hollow body and a pair of nozzles in fluid communication with the hollow body. One of the nozzles is disposed at a distal end of the developer roll near one J-seal, and the other of the nozzles is disposed at a proximal end of the developer roll near the second J-seal.

A system for cooling a developer roll inside an image forming device. In one embodiment of the invention, the system for cooling the developer roll includes an air duct for carrying an airflow, the air duct having at least one opening to allow airflow to pass therethrough, and at least one toner cartridge in fluid communication with the air duct. The at least one toner cartridge includes the developer roll and at least one input port. The at least one input port is coupled to the at least one opening of the air duct to receive the airflow and to direct the received airflow towards end portions of the developer roll via a conduit and nozzles located within the toner cartridge. The system provides an effective way for introducing the airflow into the toner cartridge for cooling the developer roll.

A cleaner assembly within a printer cartridge is provided that moves waste toner from photoconductive drum and stores it in a waste toner storage container. The cleaner assembly includes an auger, a drive shaft, and the waste toner storage container that includes a tube with plurality of perforations. The tube has a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is attached to an inlet to receive the waste toner and the second end extends to a point vertically above the inlet. The auger extends into inside of the waste toner storage container through the inlet and follows passage formed by the tube inside the waste toner storage container. The perforations in the tube allow the waste toner to move from inside the tube to the waste toner storage container, thereby resulting in maximum utilization of the space inside the inside the waste toner storage container.

A system for tailoring a transfer nip electric field includes a transfer roll, a backup roll forming a transfer nip with the transfer roll, and a pre-nip roll positioned upstream from the transfer and backup rolls and the transfer nip such that a toner image-supporting transfer belt moving past the pre-nip, transfer and backup rolls separately makes contact with, wraps partially around, and rotates each of the rolls as a media sheet is fed into the transfer nip after first passing through a gap defined between the pre-nip and transfer rolls such that by presetting the position, geometry and charge of the pre-nip roll relative to the transfer and backup rolls and the transfer belt an electrical field at the transfer nip can be tailored for enhanced toner transfer from the transfer belt to the media sheet.

An apparatus for moving waste toner within a printer cartridge includes an auger having a radially inward facing surface, the radially inward facing surface defining an opening having an inner diameter. An elongated drive shaft has an outer surface defining an outer diameter, the outer diameter of the drive shaft being greater than the inner diameter of the auger. The radially inward facing surface of the auger engages the outer surface of the drive shaft with a first pressure when the drive shaft is rotated within the opening of the auger in a first direction with a first load applied on the auger.
