A system for melting contaminant-laden solids that have been separated from a hydrocarbon-containing vapor stream in a hydrocarbon distillation tower, comprising at least one plate positioned where the solids form within the hydrocarbon distillation tower, hollow tubing forming an integral part of each of the at least one plate, and a heating medium disposed to flow through the hollow tubing at a higher temperature than a temperature of the solids to at least partially melt the solids.

Heat exchange mechanism for removing contaminants from a hydrocarbon vapor stream

A kettle reboiler includes a shell, a liquid reservoir defined within the shell to contain a first process fluid, and a tube bundle positioned within the liquid reservoir and at least partially submergible in the first process fluid, the tube bundle being configured to circulate a second process fluid that causes the first process fluid to boil and discharge a vapor-liquid mixture. A liquid-vapor separation assembly is positioned in the shell and includes a separation deck, and a plurality of separation devices mounted to the separation deck, each separation device being operable to de-entrain liquid from the vapor-liquid mixture and discharge a vapor. A vapor outlet nozzle is coupled to the shell to receive the vapor discharged from the plurality of separation devices.

Liquid de-entrainment in heat exchange equipment

The present disclosure provides a subwater heat exchanger that includes a duct, first coils, a first impeller and a second impeller. The duct is configured to receive a first fluid. The first coils are inside of the duct and are configured to receive a second fluid that is heated or cooled by the first fluid. The first impeller is inside of the duct that is configured to initiate flow of the first fluid around the first coils. The second impeller is inside of the duct and is substantially in line with the first impeller along a duct lateral axis of the duct.

Subwater heat exchanger

An apparatus is disclosed for maintaining constant fluid pressure and equalized fluid flow among a plurality of downcomer lines through which liquid from a tower is directed. A substantially annular fluid distribution belt is disposed at the circumference of the tower. The fluid distribution belt collects liquid from the tower. At least two outlets direct liquid from the fluid distribution belt out of the tower and into a corresponding number of downcomer lines disposed external to the tower.

The disclosure includes techniques associated with a collector tray assembly for a cryogenic distillation tower disposed below a slurry mix zone and above a lower distillation zone, wherein the collector tray assembly comprises a deck at a lower end of the slurry mix zone, and wherein the deck comprises at least one vapor riser configured to pass the vapor from the lower distillation zone into the slurry mix zone, wherein the vapor riser comprises a substantially vertical heat transfer section configured to pass the vapor substantially upwards through the slurry mix zone, and a vapor outlet section comprising at least one vapor outlet, wherein the vapor outlet section is below the heat transfer section.

The performance of multiple downcomer fractional distillation trays is improved by intercepting the liquid egressing from the bottom of the downcomers in a manner which directs a portion of the liquid along the major axis of decking of the next lower tray. This is accomplished by the use of improved antipenetration pans suspended below the downcomers of the upper tray. The antipenetration pans have extensions running parallel to the decking areas of the next lower tray. A portion of the liquid falling from the upper downcomer flows to the end of the extensions, where it falls onto the lower decking at more distant points than with prior art antipenetration pans.

Multiple downcomer fractional distillation tray and process

Liquid distributors collect liquid falling out of the spout group at the ends of a downcomer of a fractionation tray. The devices then distribute the liquid against the wall of the column or onto the decking of the next lower tray so to cause uniform liquid flows across the terminal decking section of the next lower multiple downcomer tray. The apparatus improves the liquid flow path on the terminal decking section of the tray, thus increasing the overall efficiency of the tray.

The efficiency of multiple down comer fractional distillation trays is improved by distributing the liquid egressing from the bottom of the downcomers in a manner which provides a uniform length liquid flow path on the next lower tray. This is accomplished by liquid distribution devices suspended below the downcomers of the upper tray, with the devices running parallel to the downcomers of the next lower tray and being adapted to collect the falling liquid and then disperse it onto the decking below along the length of the lower downcomers through openings in the distribution device.

The efficiency of multiple downcomer fractional distillation trays is improved by distributing the liquid egressing from the bottom of the downcomers in a manner which provides a uniform length liquid flow path on the next lower tray. This is accomplished by liquid distribution devices suspended below the downcomers of the upper tray, with the devices running parallel to the downcomers of the next lower tray and being adapted to collect the falling liquid and then disperse it onto the decking below along the length of the lower downcomers through openings in the distribution device.

A novel fractionation column (1) internal structure consists of groups of fractionation trays in which the upper trays rest upon the bottommost tray of the group, which is the only tray of the group supported by the column wall. Preferably the downcomers (13) or disengagement plates of the upper tray rest upon the tops of the downcomers (13) of the next lower tray. Only the bottom tray is supported as by a ring (12) attached to the column.

Fractionation column containing stacked fractionation trays

A novel fractionation tray (1) includes slidable decking plates (4) located between and alongside parallel downcomers (2). The decking plates located between a pair of downcomers have sections which may be extended outward toward the edge of the tray to adapt the shape of the tray to the internal shape of the column in which it is installed. A method of installing the trays, with an upper tray being supported only by a lower tray, is also disclosed.
