A method and a system for calibrating at least one antenna (-). At least a first antenna () within a first antenna array () can be selected as a primary reference antenna. At least one antenna () that is not within the first antenna array can be selected as a secondary reference antenna. At least a first signal propagation characteristic () can be measured based on at least one signal wirelessly communicated between the primary reference antenna and the secondary reference antenna. At least a second signal propagation characteristic () can be measured based on at least one signal wirelessly communicated between the secondary reference antenna and at least a second antenna () within the first antenna array. At least a first calibration coefficient can be determined for the second antenna.

Antenna reciprocity calibration

A passive repeater includes: a connecting transmission circuit having first and second opposing ends and made of a flexible material for substantially conforming to a portion of a structure, the structure having first and second opposing sides; first and second antenna elements respectively coupled to the first and second opposing ends of the connecting transmission element; and first and second affixing elements respectively coupled to the first and second antenna elements for attaching the first and second antenna elements to the first and second opposing sides of the structure, wherein the first and second antenna elements are operable to transfer a signal from the first opposing side of the structure to the second opposing side of the structure via the connecting transmission circuit.

Passive repeater for radio frequency communications

A multiple band antenna has an RF coupling structure () and a resonant RF structure (). The RF coupling structure () has an RF connection () and an RF coupling end (). The resonant RF structure () is reactively coupled to the RF coupling end (). The resonant RF structure () has a first end () and a second end () and has a conductive perimeter () enclosing at least one slot area () configured to induce an additional resonant RF band for the resonant RF structure (). The first end () and the second end () are reactively coupled to a ground plane () to facilitate longer wavelength operation. Cellular phones () and wireless communications sections incorporating such antennas are also provided.

Slotted multiple band antenna

A material properties detection system (). The system can include an antenna () that is tuned for operation within a frequency band over which the antenna transmits. The system also can include a transmitter () that generates electromagnetic energy across the frequency band and forwards the electromagnetic energy to the antenna. An impedance measurement circuit () can be provided. The impedance measurement circuit can measure an input impedance of the antenna over the frequency band and generate measured impedance data (). The system can include a material characterization application () that processes the measured impedance data to generate a material characterization for a structure () to which the antenna is proximate. The material characterization can include a dielectric constant, a permittivity, a loss tangent and/or a permeability.

Portable system for rapid characterization of electrical properties of a material

An efficient antenna pattern shaping structure employs a parasitic element made of a conductive surface next to radio circuitry to shape the pattern of an associated antenna, preferably one that is a quarter wave antenna. The parasitic element is disposed on a first side of the radio circuitry to act as a reflector of electromagnetic energy. The parasitic element has at least two edges and wherein the at least two edges of the parasitic element are bent in a direction towards the radio circuitry in order to shape the antenna pattern more efficiently. The parasitic element is electrically slightly larger than a half wavelength of a frequency band of interest, preferably the low frequency of interest. A optional opposing parasitic element can be disposed on a second side of the radio circuitry opposite the first side. The opposing parasitic element is electrically slightly smaller than a half wavelength of the frequency band of interest, preferably half a wavelength of the high frequency of interest. A conductive surface, having bends at the ends and preferably grounded, on a side of a wiring board of the radio circuitry, can be used in addition to or instead of an independent parasitic element.

Efficient antenna pattern shaping structure and associated radio circuitry and antenna

Edges of the surface metal of a cage shield are bent inwardly towards an interior of a cavity formed by the cage shield to eliminate leakage at apertures in the shield. In a further embodiment, bends can also be formed by the metal layers and through holes within a printed circuit board.
