An assembly and method are provided for preventing exposure of personnel to an opening defined by a surface of a wind turbine. Accordingly, a hatch assembly is arranged adjacent to the opening. The hatch assembly includes a frame structure and a support structure. The frame structure includes a plurality of frame members arranged together to at least partially surrounded opening the plurality of frame members further define a passageway for receiving the support surface. The support surface is slidable between a first position and a second position. The support surface occludes the opening defined by the surface of the wind turbine when the support surface is in the first position and occludes the passageway defined by the plurality frame members when in the second position so as to prevent exposure of personnel to the opening.

A coupling system for a machine assembly and a base is provided. The machine assembly includes a frame and a gib key extending outwardly from the frame. The coupling system includes at least one u-bracket configured to couple to the gib key such that said at least one u-bracket cooperates with the gib key to define a tenon pin opening. The at least one u-bracket is sized and shaped to be received in a clearance fit in a key channel defined in the base. The coupling system also includes a tenon pin sized and shaped to be received in the tenon pin opening such that the tenon pin couples the base to the gib key, and such that forces exerted on the received tenon pin parallel to a first direction are substantially in tension between the machine assembly and the base.

A method of constructing a gas turbine system may include placing a foundation interface of a gas turbine mannequin on a foundation, aligning the gas turbine mannequin with a load and connecting the gas turbine mannequin to the load. The method may include constructing a pipeline and connecting the pipeline to the gas turbine mannequin. The method may include placing a foundation interface of a gas turbine mannequin on a foundation, aligning the gas turbine mannequin with an exhaust structure and connecting the gas turbine mannequin to the exhaust structure. The method also includes removing the gas turbine mannequin and installing a gas turbine.

Techniques for independent motion actuator are described herein. The techniques may include a first linear actuator, a first driven carriage to be driven by movement of the first linear actuator, and a first free carriage in line with the first linear actuator but being disengaged from the first linear actuator. The techniques may also include a second linear actuator substantially parallel to the first linear actuator. A second driven carriage is to be driven by movement of the second linear actuator, and a second free carriage in line with the second linear actuator but being disengaged from the second linear actuator and to be coupled to the first driven carriage.

The support assembly includes a stand leg securable to a base, where the stand leg includes a turbine casing interface with a slot sized to receive a turbine casing pin. A support plate attachable to the turbine casing interface includes a pin aperture that is sized to fit over the turbine casing pin in the slot.

A composite material pre-patient collimator for shaping an x-ray beam in a computed tomography (CT) system is disclosed. The pre-patient collimator includes a base comprised of a first material having a first material density and an insert mechanically coupled to the base and being comprised of a second material, the second material comprising a moldable material having a second material density greater than the first material density and that is sufficient to block high frequency electromagnetic energy. The base comprises a plurality of structural features by which the insert is molded to the base, with the moldable material of the insert forming a connection with the plurality of structural features to mechanically couple the base and the insert.

Composite material x-ray collimator and method of manufacturing thereof

A shaft alignment component for aligning a rotatable shaft positioned within a housing of a driven device with a motor shaft of a motor positioned outside of the housing of the driven device is disclosed. The component includes a body portion having an opening formed therethrough to receive the rotatable shaft and/or the motor shaft therein, a first alignment feature configured to interface with an alignment hub on the motor to position the motor shaft along a centerline axis of the shaft alignment component, and a second alignment feature comprising a chamfered surface configured to interface with a countersunk feature on the housing. The chamfered surface is configured to interface with the countersunk feature to self-align the shaft alignment component with the housing such that the rotatable shaft of the driven device is positioned along the centerline axis of the shaft alignment component and aligned with the motor shaft.
