There is provided methods for insect control, including controlling myiasis, in animals by affixing to the animal an elastomeric band having infused or contained within an insecticide, an insect repellant, lidocaine, or any combination thereof. The insect control may be a dual-mode control and may be in respect of existing or impending open wounds, including open wounds caused by castration, tail docking, umbilical cord ligation, or dehorning of an animal. There is also provided methods for castration, docking, umbilical cord ligation, or dehorning of an animal with concurrent insect control. Also provided are elastomeric bands for insect control and methods for preparing such elastomeric bands.

Methods of insect control for an animal, products thereof and methods for their preparation

The present disclosure describes devices for intranasal delivery. The devices may have a housing with a dispensing element, and a positioning or trigger element coupled to the housing that engages a columella region of the subject to position the dispensing element within the nasal channel and limit its depth of insertion. The devices can also include two insertable portions, each for insertion into a nasal channel of the subject, and an actuator that delivers the composition from either or both of the insertable portions. The devices can be transitioned from a first configuration to a second configuration. Devices of the present disclosure may provide a convenient and effective way to deliver compositions intranasally and to accomplish lateralized delivery to targeted regions of the brain.

Systems and methods have been developed for implementation of a breath testing system for convenient sampling of intestinal gases exhaled from a patient's breath. This may include a system with a manifold that includes thermal regulation components, for instance thermistors and resistive heating elements, which maintain the temperature of the gases above the body temperature of the patient. In some examples, the system will determine an indication of whether a patient has SIBO by adjusting a change in exhaled hydrogen concentration by a methane level exhaled by a patient.

Methods and systems for a catheter access port cleaning, disinfection or sterilization device are disclosed. The catheter access port cleaning, disinfection or sterilization device may comprise, a first housing having a power source and control circuit; a second housing shaped to mate with a catheter and having a first ultra-violet light source mounted therein, the first housing wired to the second housing to power the light source. When activated, the ultra-violet light source emits ultra-violet radiation that is transmitted from the second housing to the catheter attached to a patient. In this way, the device provides an efficient system for cleaning, disinfecting or sterilizing an access port in the second housing while reducing patient infections.
