Polymeric compositions, methods of making the compositions, and composites, such as computer chassis containing the compositions are described. The polymeric compositions can contain 20 wt. % to 50 wt. % of post-consumer mechanical recycled polycarbonate and 10 wt. % to 50 wt. % of renewably sourced polycarbonate, wherein at least a portion of the renewably sourced polycarbonate being renewable content, wherein the polymeric composition comprises a total recycled and renewable content of at least 50 wt. %.

A display cover can include a rectangular body having opposing outer and inner surfaces and an edge that connects the outer and inner surfaces. A central region, widthwise edge regions, and lengthwise edge regions can each define a portion of the outer and inner surfaces, and the edge regions each can extend from the central region to define a portion of the edge. The central region can be planar such that a plane lies between the outer and inner surfaces throughout the central region. The assembly can include a plug at a first end of the power cord configured to be connected to a power source, a connector part at a second end of the power cord opposite to the plug and configured to be connected to an electronic device, one or more electrically conductive wires extending from the plug to the connector part, one or more insulators surrounding the one or more electrically conductive wires, and an outer jacket extending from the plug to the connector part and surrounding the one or more insulators. At least one of the plug, the connector part, the one or more insulators, or the outer jacket can include a polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)-polytetramethyleneoxide (PTMO) block copolymer having hard block and soft block segments, wherein the hard block segments comprise PBT and the soft block segments comprise PTMO. The hard block segments can include a first renewably sourced polymer obtained, at least in part, from a first bio-renewable source or a first polymer comprising a chemically recycled monomeric unit obtained, at least in part, from the first bio-renewable source. The soft block segments can include a second, different renewably sourced polymer obtained, at least in part, from a second, different bio-renewable source or a second polymer comprising a chemically recycled monomeric unit obtained, at least in part, from the second, different bio-renewable source.

Power cord assembly containing recycled and renewable polymeric compositions

Disclosed herein are single surface top covers for portable information handling systems, and that employ a substrate of thermoplastic fiberglass composite which is impregnated with polycarbonate material. The thermoplastic fiberglass composite material may be recyclable, and the thermoplastic fiberglass composite material may be impregnated with recycled polycarbonate material. A selective UV molding process may be employed to create multiple different finishes on the same upper surface of a single surface top cover by applying a nano coat of a textured UV light curable resin on at least a portion of the upper surface of a single surface top cover.

The polymeric compositions can contain 20 wt. % to 50 wt. % of a post-consumer mechanical recycled polycarbonate; 10 wt. % to 50 wt. % of a renewably sourced polycarbonate; 10 wt. % to 30 wt. % of a filler containing carbon fibers, wherein at least a portion of the carbon fibers are obtained from a post-industrial recycled source; and 5 wt. % to 15 wt. % of a flame retardant, wherein the polymeric compositions have a total recycled and renewable content of 50 wt. % to 90 wt. %.

The keyboard contains a key cap containing a mechanically recycled polycarbonate polymer or a chemically recycled cellulose based polymer, a pair of cross arms forming a scissor-shaped structure containing a polymeric composition containing 60 wt. % to 100 wt. % of a polyoxymethylene polymer, and 0 wt. % to 40 wt. % of a filler containing glass, and a back light module containing a renewably source polycarbonate polymer or a chemically recycled polyester polymer.

Keyboard containing recycled and renewable polymeric compositions

Enclosure parts for portable information handling systems may be made by heat pressing material layers together. The material layers may include outer fiber-reinforced thermoplastic layers and a core thermoplastic layer comprising a plurality of thermoplastic film layers. The core thermoplastic layer may be die cut to create voids that reduce weight of the enclosure part. A finishing layer may be added, along with attachment features.

Thermoplastic composite materials for portable information handling system enclosures

Disclosed herein are apparatus and methods that may be implemented to provide gapless flexible backside coverings for foldable information handling systems. The disclosed apparatus and materials may be configured in one embodiment to provide an integrated and flexible backside covering that is continuous across at least the backside hinge area of a foldable computer device, and that allows the foldable computer device to open and close (or unfold and fold) without the presence of any gaps in the covering.

Systems and methods for manufacturing structural materials

In one or more embodiments, one or more systems, methods, and/or processes may place a first outer layer, a core layer, and a second outer layer in a mold; and may heat the mold to at least thirty degrees Celsius above a glass transition temperature (Tg) for a period of time. In one or more embodiments, the polycarbonate fibers may be between eight and ten deniers per filament. In one or more embodiments, the Tg may be no more than 105 degrees Celsius. In one or more embodiments, the one or more systems, methods, and/or processes may further allow the first outer layer, the core layer, and the second outer layer to cool below the Tg, after the period of time. For example, after the layers cool, a shear modulus of the core layer may be in a range of 0.9868 megapounds per square inch (msi) to 2.2730 msi.
