Embodiments may be directed to marine geophysical surveying and associated methods. At least one embodiment may be directed to incorporation of a lock mechanism in a sensor streamer that interlocks the outer jacket with one or more of the spacers to prevent relative rotation between the outer jacket. An embodiment may provide a sensor streamer that includes an outer jacket, a plurality of spacers, and a locking mechanism. The outer jacket may be elongated in an axial direction and comprise an outer jacket surface and an inner jacket surface. The plurality of spacers may be positioned in the outer jacket at spaced apart locations in the axial direction, wherein each of the plurality of spacers comprises a spacer body having an outer spacer surface. The locking mechanism may interlock the outer jacket with at least one of the plurality of spacers.

Lock mechanism in a gel-type streamer

A ferrule structure for an optical connector includes a central member disposed in the ferrule. The central member is configured so that an exterior dimension of the central member can change between a smaller size and a larger size. A plurality of optical fibers are disposed in the ferrule externally to the central member. A method for assembling an optical connector ferrule includes providing a central member, wherein the central member is configured so that an exterior dimension of the central member can change between a smaller size and a larger size. The method further includes placing an axial load on the central member to cause the exterior dimension to assume the smaller size. The central member is disposed in the ferrule. A plurality of optical fibers are disposed in the ferrule, external to the central member. The axial load is removed from the central member.

Structure for optical connector ferrule and method for making

An ocean bottom cable system includes a sensor cable configured to be extended from a vessel to the bottom of the body of water. The sensor cable includes a plurality of seismic sensor units at spaced apart locations. A lead in cable is coupled at a to at least one of the vessel and a buoy, and to an aft lead in cable segment. The segment includes a cable loop to compensate water-caused motion of the lead in cable substantially without moving the sensor units. A first swivel is disposed between a forward end of the sensor cable and an aft end of the aft lead in cable segment. The first swivel enables relative rotation between the sensor cable and the segment. At least a second swivel is disposed between the second end of the lead in cable and a forward end of the aft lead in segment.

A method for operating a marine seismic survey system includes deploying from a seismic vessel at least two lead-in cables each functionally coupled at one end thereof proximate a respective paravane. The lead-in cables have at least one spreader cable functionally coupled between the paravanes. Strain is measured at least one position along each lead in cable; and a length of each cable is adjusted such that the measured strains are substantially equal.

In one aspect the invention comprises a system and a method for marine geophysical exploration, which includes a first cable connected to a vessel and a plurality of streamer cables connected to the first cable. The first cable includes all towing strength members and all electrical power and data transmission conductors for the connected streamer cables.
