An implant extracting tool () is provided having an elongate housing () with a proximal end () configured for connection to a tool, a distal end () having an opening for operably engaging an implant, and an elongate recess () therein to the opening. A jaw () is slidably received within the slot and extends into the opening. A linkage assembly () is secured and received within the elongate recess and is pivotally secured to the jaw such that operation of the linkage slides the jaw within the slot towards and away from the opening. A lock mechanism () can be provided to hold the extracting tool in a locked position when clamped onto an implant.

An intramedullary nail extractor including a central body, a rotatable sleeve and a clamping member. The central body includes a proximal end for attachment to an extractor, a distal end having a hook for engaging an intramedullary nail, and a threaded intermediate portion between the proximal end and the distal end. The rotatable sleeve threadedly engages the threaded intermediate portion of the central body, and the clamping member is operatively engaged by the rotatable sleeve and moveable relative to the central body.

An implant extractor including a shaft body and a telescoping push rod extending from the shaft body. An adjustor is engaged with the telescoping push rod for adjusting a length of the telescoping push rod. A support arm extends laterally away from the shaft body and a jaw assembly extends from the support arm. The jaw assembly includes a jaw moveable between a locking position and an unlocking position, and a rocker arm operatively engaged with the telescoping push rod and the jaw. The implant extractor provides a line of force spaced from and substantially parallel to an implant to be extracted. As a consequence, there is substantial clearance for an extension handle such as a C-frame or the like which is oftentimes needed to dislodge the implant from surrounding bone. In addition, the implant extractor is capable of gripping a wide range of sizes of hip stem implant trunnions.

A surgical hammer that includes a handle, a shaft extending from the handle and a hammer head connected to the shaft. The hammer head includes a slot extending through the hammer head and in fluid communication with a distal end of the hammer head, a first internal cavity within the hammer head spaced laterally from the slot, and a second internal cavity within the hammer head spaced laterally from the slot.

A modular jaw for attachment to an orthopedic implant extraction tool that includes an elongated body, a claw about a distal end of the elongated body for engaging an object, and a locking mechanism about a posterior end of the elongated body for engaging the orthopedic implant extraction tool. The locking mechanism includes a dovetail lock, a detent mounted to the dovetail lock, and a distally facing surface about a proximal end of the elongated body.
