A connector device for a fiber optic cable. The connector device includes a housing assembly () arranged to house a section of a fiber optic cable (); a first fiber optic connector () including a body () that is arranged to receive a first optical fiber; a second fiber optic connector () including a body () that is arranged to receive a second optical fiber; and attachment mechanism () for releasably attaching each of the first and second fiber optic connectors () to the housing assembly (). A fiber optic connector assembly () and a method for changing the polarity of first and second optical fibers in a fiber optic cable assembly () are also disclosed.

Fibre optic connector device

A connector device () for connecting a first fiber optic cable () to a plurality of second fiber optic cables (). The connector device () includes a casing () having a first opening () arranged to receive the first fiber optic cable (), a second opening () arranged to receive the plurality of second fiber optic cables (), a cavity that connects the first and second openings () such that a fiber connection can be made between the first fiber optic cable () and the plurality of second cables (), and first and second parts () that are connectable to each other; and securing means for securing the casing () to the first fiber optic cable () and to the plurality of second fiber optic cables () such that when secured thereto the casing () transfers tensile loads between the cables (), wherein the securing means includes a furcation member () that is arranged to receive and support the plurality of second fiber optic cables (). A method for producing a furcated fiber optic cable is also disclosed.
