A power operated rotary knife including an annular rotary knife blade supported for rotation in a blade housing. The rotary knife blade including a body and a blade section extending from the body. The body section including an outer wall including an upper, middle and lower portions. The upper portion of the outer wall including a bearing race extending radially inwardly into the outer wall. The lower portion of the outer wall including the driven gear. In one embodiment, the intermediate portion includes an annular land having an outer surface defining a radially outermost portion of the outer wall of the body, the outer surface of the annular land being radially outward of the driven gear and the bearing race. In another embodiment, the intermediate portion includes an annular channel having an inner surface being radially inward of first and second ends of the bearing race and the driven gear.

A flexible shaft drive transmission coupled between a drive motor and a gear train of a power operated tool. The flexible shaft drive transmission includes: an outer casing having a bushing positioned at a tool end of the casing, the bushing defining a longitudinal central opening; lubricant disposed within the outer casing; and an elongated drive transmitting shaft assembly rotatable within the outer casing including a flexible drive transmitting and a coupler fitting affixed to the tool end of the drive transmitting shaft, the coupler fitting including a cylindrical body and an enlarged head extending distally from the cylindrical body, the cylindrical body fitting within the longitudinal central opening of the bushing and the enlarged head having a diameter greater than a diameter of the longitudinal central opening of the bushing. The enlarged head defining a square drive aligned with a central longitudinal axis of the drive transmitting shaft assembly.

A power operated rotary knife including: a handle assembly, a head assembly and a vacuum attachment assembly. The handle assembly includes an elongated cylindrical handle housing defining a handle assembly longitudinal axis extending through a throughbore of the handle housing. The head assembly including a rotary knife blade having an intermediate driven gear, a blade housing supporting the knife blade for rotation and a frame having a lower section and an upper section. A lower section of the blade housing extending laterally from the lower section of the frame and an upper section of the blade housing extending laterally from the upper section of the frame and encircling an axially extending portion of the rotary knife blade adjacent the driven gear. The blade housing including a bearing assembly including a first bearing member disposed in the lower section and a second bearing member disposed in the upper section.

The handle assembly includes an elongated cylindrical handle housing defining a handle assembly longitudinal axis extending through a throughbore of the handle housing. The head assembly includes a rotary knife blade rotatably supported for rotation about an axis of rotation in a blade housing and a frame securing the blade housing to the distal end of the handle assembly in a position offset from the handle housing, the axis of rotation of the rotary knife blade being spaced apart from and parallel to the handle longitudinal axis. A driver assembly detachably coupled between a flexible shaft drive transmission having an outer casing and an elongated drive transmitting shaft rotatable within the outer casing and a handle assembly of a power operated toot to provide rotational power from a coupler fitting of the drive transmitting shaft and a drive train of the power operated rotary knife. The driver assembly includes: a tube assembly comprising a main tube defining a throughbore and first and second bushings disposed within the throughbore at respective first and second ends of the main tube and a casing coupler secured to and extending beyond the second end of the main tube, the casing coupler configured to releasably attach the driver assembly to the outer casing; and an elongated shaft supported for rotation by the first and second bushings of the tube assembly.
