A vehicular video camera display system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly having a mirror head accommodating an electrochromic reflective element, with a video display device disposed in the mirror head behind the electrochromic reflective element. With the interior rearview mirror assembly disposed at the in-cabin side of a windshield of a vehicle, a video display screen of the video display device is operable to display video images that are viewable through the electrochromic reflective element by a driver of the vehicle. Image data captured by a rearward-viewing video camera is communicated via a cable as a digital signal from the rearward-viewing video camera to control circuitry. The video display device displays video images that are derived, at least in part, from image data communicated from the rearward-viewing video camera to the control circuitry. The control circuitry controls display at the video display device of the video images.

Vehicular video camera display system

A vehicular camera monitoring system includes a rearward-viewing camera, a driver-side camera, a passenger-side camera and a dual-mode interior rearview mirror assembly disposed at an interior cabin of a vehicle. The dual-mode interior rearview mirror assembly is operable in a mirror mode and a display mode. With the vehicle traveling along a road, and with the dual-mode interior rearview mirror assembly operating in the display mode, a video display screen displays video images derived at least in part from image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera, the driver-side camera and/or the passenger-side camera. The video display screen displays at least passenger-side video images of a passenger-side region sideward and rearward of the passenger side of the vehicle until a period of time elapses following a passenger exiting the vehicle from a passenger seat of the vehicle.

Vehicular camera monitoring system

A vehicular scalable integrated control system includes a plurality of sensors and a vehicular scalable integrated control unit. The plurality of sensors includes a plurality of cameras and a plurality of radar sensors. Data captured by the sensors is provided as input to and is processed at the vehicular scalable integrated control unit. Responsive at least in part to processing at the vehicular scalable integrated control unit of data captured by the plurality of sensors, the vehicular scalable integrated control system at least partially controls at least one selected from the group consisting of (i) braking of the vehicle while being driven along a road and (ii) steering of the vehicle while being driven along the road. The plurality of cameras includes a front camera disposed at an in-cabin side of a windshield of the vehicle. The front camera views through the windshield forward of the vehicle.

Vehicular scalable integrated control system with scalable integrated control unit

A vehicular vision system includes a video display screen disposed behind a transflective mirror reflector of an electrochromic mirror reflective element of an interior rearview mirror assembly. Image data captured by a rearward-viewing camera is provided to the mirror assembly as digital signals carried by a coaxial cable. Electronic circuitry of the mirror assembly includes (i) auto dimming circuitry and (ii) video processing circuitry. The video display screen (i) displays at a left display region video images derived from captured image data to display a scene occurring in a left side lane, (ii) displays at a right display region video images derived from captured image data to display a scene occurring in a right side lane and (iii) displays at a middle display region video images derived from captured image data to display a scene occurring rearward of the vehicle in the lane the equipped vehicle is travelling in.

Vehicular vision system

A vehicular driver monitoring system includes an event camera disposed in a cabin of a vehicle and viewing the head of a driver of the vehicle. The dynamic range of the event camera is at least 100 dB. The response time of the event camera is less than 10,000 microseconds. The event camera has a quantum efficiency of at least 15% for near-infrared light having a wavelength of 940 nm. The system, responsive to processing of data output by the event camera, monitors the driver of the vehicle. Responsive at least in part (a) to monitoring of the driver of the vehicle and (b) to vehicle kinematic data provided to the ECU, at least one selected from the group consisting of (i) a driver attentiveness alert is generated, (ii) a driver drowsiness alert is generated, (iii) steering of the vehicle is controlled and (iv) braking of the vehicle is controlled.

Vehicular driver monitoring system with event camera

A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mounting arm and a mirror head at one end of the mounting arm distal from an attachment portion of the mounting arm that is configured for attachment at a vehicle. A mirror reflective element is fixedly attached at the mirror head. An innermost side of the mirror reflective element is attached at a front side of an attachment plate. The mirror reflective element moves in tandem with movement of the mirror head relative to the mounting arm when the driver of the vehicle operates an electrically-operable actuator. The attachment plate includes wall structure that extends from the front side of the attachment plate and circumscribes and spans the perimeter circumferential edge of the glass substrate and does not encroach onto and does not overlap the front surface of the glass substrate of the exterior mirror reflective element.

Vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly

A vehicular driver monitoring system includes a driver monitoring camera disposed at an interior rearview mirror assembly of a vehicle. The driver monitoring camera views a driver of the vehicle when the driver is driving the vehicle. The driver monitoring camera captures image data. An image processor is operable to process image data captured by the driver monitoring camera. The vehicular driver monitoring system determines driver performance based at least in part on (i) image processing by the image processor of image data captured by the driver monitoring camera, (ii) a vehicle characteristic and (iii) a condition exterior of the equipped vehicle. The vehicle characteristic includes at least one selected from the group consisting of (a) vehicle speed, (b) vehicle acceleration and (c) vehicle orientation.

Vehicular driver monitoring system

A vehicular control system includes a central control module vehicle, a plurality of vehicular cameras disposed at a vehicle and viewing exterior of the vehicle, and a plurality of radar sensors disposed at the vehicle and sensing exterior of the vehicle. The plurality of vehicular cameras includes at least (i) a forward-viewing vehicular camera, (ii) a driver side sideward-viewing vehicular camera and (iii) a passenger side sideward-viewing vehicular camera. The central control module receives vehicle data relating to operation of the vehicle. During a driving maneuver of the equipped vehicle, and responsive at least in part to fusion at the central control module of (i) image data captured by at least the forward-viewing vehicular camera and (ii) radar data captured by at least the front radar sensor, a pedestrian present exterior of the equipped vehicle is detected.

Vehicular control system

A vehicular vision system includes a rear-viewing camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing at least rearward of the vehicle. Each frame of image data captured by the imaging array of the rear-viewing camera includes a plurality of grids, with each grid of the plurality of grids having a respective set of photosensing elements associated with respective rows and columns of photosensing elements. A electro-optic rearview mirror assembly includes an electro-optic mirror reflective element that is controlled responsive to an ambient light condition and a glare light condition. The ambient light condition is determined by processing at least one first grid of the plurality of grids of the frames of image data captured by the rear-viewing camera. The glare light condition is determined by processing at least one second grid of the plurality of grids of the frames of image data captured by the rear-viewing camera.

Multifunctional rearward viewing camera system

A vehicular driver monitoring system includes an interior prismatic rearview mirror assembly and a camera disposed at the interior prismatic rearview mirror assembly behind and viewing through a prismatic mirror reflective element into the interior cabin of the vehicle. Supplemental sources of near infrared illumination are disposed at the mirror assembly that are operable to emit near infrared light to illuminate at least the driver-side front seating area within the interior cabin of the vehicle. Presence of the camera behind the prismatic mirror reflective element is not readily apparent to an occupant of the vehicle. The camera at least (a) views the driver-side front seating area of the vehicle and (b) views a passenger-side front seating area of the vehicle. The driver of the equipped vehicle is monitored via processing at the processor of image data captured by the camera.

A vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head accommodating an interior rearview mirror reflective element. The mirror reflective element has a mirror transflector that transmits near infrared light incident thereon, transmits visible light incident thereon and reflects visible light incident thereon. The mirror transflector includes repeating alternating layers of a higher refractive index layer and a lower refractive index layer. A megapixel camera is disposed within the mirror head behind the mirror reflective element and views through the mirror transflector. A near infrared illumination source is disposed within the mirror head and operable to emit near infrared light that passes through the mirror transflector. Responsive at least in part to the data processor processing captured image data, at least one selected from the group consisting of (i) driver attentiveness is monitored, (ii) driver drowsiness is monitored and (iii) driver gaze direction is monitored.

Vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly

A vehicular exterior rearview mirror system includes an exterior rearview mirror assembly configured for attachment at a vehicle and an electrically-operable actuator. An exterior mirror head is movable relative to an exterior portion of the vehicle via operation of the actuator. The exterior mirror head accommodates an exterior mirror reflective element attached at an attachment plate. A heater pad is disposed between the exterior mirror reflective element and the attachment plate. An outermost side of the exterior mirror reflective element is exposed to and is viewable by a driver of the vehicle and is contactable. The attachment plate includes wall structure that spans a perimeter circumferential edge of the exterior mirror reflective element. No part of the exterior mirror head encroaches onto the outermost side of the exterior mirror reflective element. No part of the exterior mirror head overlaps the outermost side of the exterior mirror reflective element.

Vehicular exterior rearview mirror system

A vehicular control system includes a central control module vehicle, a plurality of vehicular cameras disposed at a vehicle and viewing exterior of the vehicle, and a plurality of radar sensors disposed at the vehicle and sensing exterior of the vehicle. The plurality of vehicular cameras includes at least (i) a forward-viewing vehicular camera, (ii) a driver side sideward-viewing vehicular camera and (iii) a passenger side sideward-viewing vehicular camera. The central control module receives vehicle data relating to operation of the vehicle. Responsive at least in part to processing at the central control module of (i) image data captured by at least the forward-viewing vehicular camera and (ii) radar data captured by at least the front radar sensor, the vehicular control system at least in part controls a plurality of driver assistance systems of the vehicle.

A vehicular video camera display system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly having a casing and an electrochromic reflective element, with a video display device disposed in the casing behind the electrochromic reflective element. With the interior rearview mirror assembly disposed at the in-cabin side of a windshield of a vehicle, a video display screen of the video display device is operable to display video images that are viewable through the electrochromic reflective element by a driver of the vehicle. Image data captured by a rearward-viewing video camera is communicated as a digital signal from the rearward-viewing video camera via a cable to control circuitry disposed at the interior rearview mirror assembly. The video display device displays video images that are derived, at least in part, from image data communicated via the cable from the rearward-viewing video camera to the control circuitry disposed at the interior rearview mirror assembly.

A vehicular driver monitoring system includes a driver monitoring camera and an illumination source accommodated within a movable head of an interior rearview mirror of a vehicle. The illumination source is electrically activatable to emit near-infrared (NIR) light that illuminates with near-infrared (NIR) light at least the head of a driver of the vehicle. Emission of near-infrared (NIR) light by the illumination source is modulated on/off at an illumination source modulation rate. The camera frame capture rate of the driver monitoring camera is bigger than the illumination source modulation rate of near-infrared (NIR) light emitted by the illumination source. Frames of image data are captured by the camera and are processed while the illumination source is on and is emitting near-infrared (NIR) light, and frames of image data are captured by the camera and are processed while the illumination source is off and is not emitting near-infrared (NIR) light.
