In an input device for inputting characters on a user interface by handwriting, the movement of an input unit, in particular a finger of a user, is detected and converted to an input pattern corresponding to the detected movement. The input pattern is compared with stored characters of a character set, and if the input pattern sufficiently matches one of the stored characters, the character is selected. During the input, the user receives acoustic feedback about the input process, such that the acoustic feedback signal is output in a constant manner outside a defined edge area of the user interface and is output in an incremental or continuous manner at a decreasing distance from the edge in a defined edge area of the user interface.

Input device

A method and display for displaying the operating range of an electric drive vehicle and a display for carrying out same are provided. The battery energy in a vehicle is detected, and a maximum operating range of the vehicle is determined therefrom. At least one battery service station is selected as destination point for determining the maximum operating range. Based on a starting point, a reachability threshold is determined. If exceeded, the vehicle will be unable to reach the destination point with the current battery energy available, wherein said reachability threshold is displayed as an operating range in a map illustration. During the determination of the reachability threshold, the current location is used as the starting point and the current battery energy of the vehicle is used, both of which are updated at pre-defined intervals while the vehicle is moving.

Presented is a method for selecting a label from a multiplicity of labels stored in a memory element. The method includes inputting a handwritten character into a handwritten input apparatus, associating an alphanumeric character with the handwritten input character using a character recognition apparatus, adding the associated alphanumeric character to an already input character string to produce an extended character string, comparing the extended character string with the labels stored in the memory element, and selecting one or more of the stored labels using the comparison. The alphanumeric character is selected from a dynamically alterable character set which contains only characters which, in addition to the already input character string, produce an extended character string, which is an initial component of at least one of the stored labels. Also presented is a motor vehicle navigation system in which address database entries are selected by the above described method.

Method for selecting a designation

The invention relates to a rotary/push-button controller having a controller ring () which can be rotated about a rotation axis () and is arranged such that it can rotate on a holding cylinder () which is arranged coaxially within the control ring (). In this case, the holding cylinder () is provided at its end with an input and/or display field (), and the control ring () and the holding cylinder () can be moved axially with respect to the rotation axis () against a spring force from a neutral position to a switch position which operates a switching element. The input and/or display field () is mounted so that it can rotate about the rotation axis (). A rotary transmitter ring is arranged coaxially on the control ring () and is arranged coaxially alongside a rotary transmitter () which is firmly connected to the holding cylinder () with the relative rotation position of the rotary transmitter ring with the respect to the rotary transmitter () being recordable.

Rotary/push-button controller

The invention relates to an operating unit, especially for operating a multimedia system in a motor vehicle, comprising an operating element that can be rotated about an axis (z), that can be moved along said axis of rotation (z) and that can be locked in a position () on said axis (z). The operating element can also be moved on an plane (x, y) that is orthogonal relative to said axis (z) in order to control the movement of a cursor that can be shown on a display in any given direction.

Operating unit, especially for operating a multimedia system in a motor vehicle

The invention relates to a rotating actuator/pressure actuator () comprising a ring-shaped rotary transducer () consisting of an inner ring and a rotary ring with a handle () and which can rotate around the inner ring about an axis (z) and which is displaceably arranged in a linear manner along the axis (Z) in relation to a housing (), in addition to an inner part (touchpad) which is arranged in an inner area () of the ring-shaped rotary transducer () and which is displaceable in a linear manner along the axis (z) together with the ring-shaped rotary transducer () in relation to the housing (). Linear displacement of the handle () and/or inner part (touchpad) triggers a push-button function. According to the invention, the rotary transducer () and inner part (touchpad) are arranged in a pan-shaped guide element () which is arranged in a linear displaceable manner along the axis (z) in the housing; the inner ring of the rotary transducer () is rotationally fixed in the guide element (); the rotary transducer () and the inner par (touchpad) are connected to the guide element () in such a way that they are not displaceable along the axis (z) and the guide element () acts upon the push button ().
