Pairing and configuring a computing device for use in a meeting space is provided. An appliance may communicate a broadcast to a computing device which announces the availability of a meeting space for a meeting. The computing device may establish a connection with the appliance. The computing device may then join the meeting in the meeting space.

Smart device pairing and configuration for meeting spaces

Various embodiments enable expeditious manipulation of content on a surface so as to make the content quickly visually available to one or more attendees or participants. In at least some embodiments, content can be automatically manipulated to automatically present the content in a surface location that provides an unobstructed view of the content. Alternately or additionally, content can be manually selected to become 'floating' in a manner which moves the content to a surface location that provides an unobstructed view of the content.

Various embodiments provide an ability to analyze an audio input signal and generate a counter audio signal based, at least in part, on the audio input signal. In some cases, combining the audio input signal with the counter audio signal renders the audio input signal incoherent and/or unintelligible to accidental listeners and/or listeners to whom the audio input signal is not directed towards. Alternately or additionally, the counter signal can mask the audio input signal to the accidental listeners.

Preserving privacy of a conversation from surrounding environment using a counter signal

A computing device's settings, specifically audio or video settings are adjusted based on a status and/or location of an event participant carrying the device. An event coordination service or an application on the computing device may match the participant's status and location to event location information. Upon matching either status or location, the computing device's settings may be modified to prevent audio feedback by any audio equipment at the event location or similar video interference.

A mechanism for efficiently and dynamically adjusting lighting conditions in a space through the use of existing video capture devices in the space or video capture devices on computing devices brought into the space is provided. Incident lighting levels, light composition, and similar aspects on the participants, displays, projectors, white boards, walls, and comparable objects may be calibrated and/or optimized based on captured image quality.

Optimizing room lighting based on image sensor feedback

A video conferencing system presents video conference feeds of remote participants in different video conferencing units that are located throughout a conference room. Each of the available units is located at a different position within the conference room. At any point in time, a remote participant is associated with one of the units. The remote participant may move and/or be moved to a different unit during the video conference. For example, a presenter may ask the remote participant to 'sit' at a particular unit and/or the remote participant may decide to move to a different unit within the room. Each of the units is configured to determine when a local participant is addressing a remote participant that is associated with the unit. When more than one remote participant is associated with a particular unit, the remote participant who is being communicated with may be shown prominently on the display.
