A system for assessing a status of a spinal implant includes a wearable apparatus having an electronics system and one or more spinal implants in communication with the wearable apparatus. The electronics system includes a first short-range receiver, a first short-range transmitter, and an inertial measurement unit. The wearable apparatus is configured to constrain one or more movements of a wearer when worn. The one or more spinal implants include one or more sensors configured to measure one or more characteristics of a fusion status of the spinal implant, a second short-range receiver, and a second short-range transmitter. The one or more spinal implants are configured to communicate one or more of the measured characteristics to the wearable apparatus via the second transmitter.

Motion limiting apparatus for assessing status of spinal implants

An energy transfer system includes a spinal implant having an antenna, an antenna extender attached to a portion of the spinal implant in proximity to the antenna, and a reader device configured to send energy to the spinal implant via the antenna extender. A spinal correction system comprises a flexible longitudinal element extending between a first end and a second end. At least one fixation element includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes an inner surface that defines a cavity such that the longitudinal element is disposable therein. The second portion is configured for penetrating tissue. The anchor element defines a reservoir adapted to contain a bone-growth promoting material and the reservoir is in fluid communication with the bone structure via at least one aperture defined in the anchor element. A rod-connecting element extend from the anchor element and is adapted to extend outward from the bone structure to engage at least a portion of a rod when the rod extends within a vicinity of the spinal system and the bone structure.

A bone preparation device for shaping endplates forming an intervertebral disc space between two adjacent vertebrae includes a cutter component and a cutter-positioner component. The cutter-positioner is arranged to limit the distal travel of the cutter component and to restrict the range of motion of the distal end of the cutter component. The bone preparation device also includes a rotational interface between the cutter component and the cutter-positioner component. The rotational interface is structurally arranged to permit the cutting blade to be rotated at the same time the cutter component is restricted in its range of motion.
