A load sensing assembly for a spinal implant is disclosed. The load sensing assembly may include: a set screw having a drive interface, a lower cavity for receiving a cover, the cover including a protrusion that may engage with an anchoring member. The load sensing assembly may further include an antenna, and at least one sensor having an integrated circuit in communication with the antenna. In some embodiments, the integrated circuit is positioned within a sealed cavity of the set screw. In some embodiments, a connecting wire extends through a through hole of the set screw and into the sealed cavity to connect the antenna with the at least one sensor. In some embodiments, the cap is welded to the set screw, the through hole is filled with an insulative material, and the sealed cavity of the set screw is hermitically sealed.

A system for assessing a status of a spinal implant includes a wearable apparatus having an electronics system and one or more spinal implants in communication with the wearable apparatus. The electronics system includes a first short-range receiver, a first short-range transmitter, and an inertial measurement unit. The wearable apparatus is configured to constrain one or more movements of a wearer when worn. The one or more spinal implants include one or more sensors configured to measure one or more characteristics of a fusion status of the spinal implant, a second short-range receiver, and a second short-range transmitter. The one or more spinal implants are configured to communicate one or more of the measured characteristics to the wearable apparatus via the second transmitter.

A bone preparation device for shaping endplates forming an intervertebral disc space between two adjacent vertebrae includes a cutter component and a cutter-positioner component. The cutter-positioner is arranged to limit the distal travel of the cutter component and to restrict the range of motion of the distal end of the cutter component. The bone preparation device also includes a rotational interface between the cutter component and the cutter-positioner component. The rotational interface is structurally arranged to permit the cutting blade to be rotated at the same time the cutter component is restricted in its range of motion.
