The present disclosure relates to a communication technique for converging a 5G communication system, which is provided to support a higher data transmission rate beyond a 4G system with an IoT technology, and a system therefor. The present disclosure may be applied to an intelligent service (for example, smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, healthcare, digital education, retail business, security and safety-related service, etc.) on the basis of a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. The present disclosure relates to an efficient method and device for uplink communication in a narrow band system which provides an IoT service in a band for a broadband system, and a method for uplink communication in a narrow band system according to an embodiment of the present disclosure comprises the steps of: receiving, by a terminal, control information associated with uplink transmission of symbols from a base station; and performing, by the terminal, the uplink transmission using symbols except a second symbol overlapping with a first symbol for transmission of an uplink reference signal in a broadband system, on the basis of the control information.

A method and apparatus for measuring a use of radio resources in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes allocating radio resources to a plurality of transport blocks, and, if at least one transport block among the plurality of transport blocks overlaps at least one other transport block in terms of the radio resources, a use of the radio resources is measured by calculating a sum of a value determined by dividing the number of radio resources allocated to each of the plurality of transport blocks by the number of radio resources which are used by the at least one other transport block in a duplicate manner.

A method and apparatus for uplink scheduling in a communication system are provided. The method includes determining whether a User Equipment (UE) is included in an uplink scheduling list, a buffer length of the UE is estimated, if the UE is included in the uplink scheduling list, it is determined whether a Buffer State Report (BSR) indicating the buffer length of the UE has been received from the UE, if the estimated buffer length is 0, and the UE is transitioned to a non-zero BSR reception state and maintained in the uplink scheduling list, if the BSR has not been received from the UE. The non-zero BSR reception state is a state in which a zero BSR indicating the buffer length of the UE is 0 has not been received.

A method for controlling uplink transmission power in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes estimating a downlink path loss, determining a target Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) depending on the downlink path loss, determining an amount of power to compensate for a difference between the target SNR and an estimated SNR, and transmitting a power control message including a Transmit Power Control (TPC) command value to a terminal based on the determined amount of power.

A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving System Information (SI) of a femto base station in a wireless communication system are provided. In the method, an SI transmission point is determined using unique identification information of a femto base station itself and unique identification information of a macro base station with which the femto base station is associated. Each of user equipment and the macro base station generate a measurement gap pattern representing an SI reception point using the unique identification information of the femto base station and the unique identification information of the macro base station. In the method, a femto base station receives a signal having an intensity of a threshold or more from UE and transmits a message reporting power-on of a transmitter to a femto base station controller. The UE transmits a message reporting downlink signal measurement results of femto base stations to the femto base station controller via a macro base station. The femto base station controller determines a femto base station which becomes a handover target of the UE using report messages of the femto base stations and the UE. A method is provided for transmitting inter-cell interference information by a serving Evolved Node B (ENB) in a communication system. Apparatus and method for handover in wireless communication system

Provided are a paging method and an apparatus thereof for User Equipment (UE) in a broadband wireless communication system. In the method, a paging message is received from a macro base station. Whether there exists an accessible femto base station inside a service area of the macro base station is determined. When there does not exist the accessible femto base station inside the service area of the macro base station, the UE responds to the paging message of the macro base station. When there exists the accessible femto base station inside the service area of the macro base station, the UE waits for a paging message to be received from the femto base station.

A method and an apparatus for identifying a base station in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes storing a Neighbor Cell List (NCL) received from a serving base station, obtaining a Physical Cell IDentifier (PCID) from a signal received from a neighbor base station, and identifying whether the neighbor base station is a macro base station or a femto base station by determining whether the obtained PCID exists in the stored NCL.
