An arc-based active body activation unit is provided. To this end, ignition of the active mass or flare is effected by means of arcing. The arc can be used immediately and is low-maintenance. For that purpose, electrode pairs are disposed around the ejector tube, at least one of which pairs serves the ignition of the arc(s). For that purpose, the electrode pairs are electronically connected via connecting lines to at least one control unit.

Activation unit for munitions-free decoy target

An active body () is proposed that has, as active mass (), multiple flares () arranged behind each other or stacked, in particular for the generation of decoys, wherein the flares () are NC (nitrocellulose) and RP (red phosphorus) single flares. The single flares () are evenly or unevenly stacked in succession such that one RP single flare () lies on an NC single flare (), or multiple NC single flares () or multiple RP single flares () follow each other, so that it is possible to vary the percentage of NC and RP in the active body () from about 0% to about 100%. A container () houses the active mass (), and can in turn have predetermined breaking points () to facilitate the break up of the active body ().

Active body

An activation unit () for munitions-free decoys, active masses or active bodies () is characterized by an ejector tube () and a high-powered heater element () arranged around the ejector tube (), wherein the heater element is made up of at least one heating wire (), provided with electrical current by a regulator unit. Each heating wire () is enclosed in a sleeve () and embedded in at least one heat-loss minimizing material. The active body () passing through the activation unit () directly or indirectly contacts with the individual elements () of the activation unit (). Thermal energy is transmitted to the active body () from the heating wires (), which ignites at the touching or contact point.

Activation unit for munition-free decoys

An active body () includes flares () arranged adjacent, above, or behind each other, wherein at least one hydrophobic separating layer () is integrated between the flares, or flare disks (), thereby preventing the flares () from attaching or sticking. In one embodiment, the hydrophobic separating layer () is applied to at least one side of the flares (), preferably as a powder preferably consisting of microspheres, or the like. In another embodiment, a separating disk is disposed between the flares () as the separating layer (), which in addition is anti-cohesive and anti-adhesive.
