A dryer appliance including a drum, a heater assembly, a reservoir, and a controller is provided. The drum defines a chamber for receipt of articles for drying. The heater assembly is in fluid communication with the chamber to flow air thereto. The reservoir is configured to receive a fluid, such as a cleaning solution, a disinfecting solution, or a perfume solution. The reservoir is in selective fluid communication with the chamber to provide the fluid to the chamber. The controller is configured to perform operations that, when executed by the controller, causes the dryer appliance to perform operations. The operations include flowing fluid to the chamber from the reservoir.

Dryer appliance and method for cleaning operation

A dryer appliance may include a cabinet, a drum, a heater assembly, a temperature sensor, and a controller. The heater assembly may be in upstream fluid communication with a drying chamber. The temperature sensor may be in upstream fluid communication with the drying chamber. The controller may be in operable communication with the heater assembly and the temperature sensor. The controller may be configured to initiate a test cycle. The test cycle may include activating the heater assembly, detecting a first temperature upstream of the drum at a first moment following activating the heater assembly, detecting a second temperature upstream of the drum at a second moment following the first moment, determining a temperature delta as a difference between the second temperature and the first temperature, comparing the temperature delta to a delta threshold, and initiating an alert message based on comparing the temperature delta to the delta threshold.

Dryer appliance and methods for detecting vent obstruction

A laundry or dryer appliance, as provided herein, may include a cabinet, a drum, a door, and an additive dispensing assembly. The drum may be mounted within the cabinet and define a space for the receipt of clothes. The door may be movably mounted to the cabinet to selectively restrict access to the drum. The additive dispensing assembly may be held on the door and configured to provide an additive mist to the drum. The additive dispensing assembly may include an additive tank, a fluid pump, and a dispenser nozzle. The additive tank may define a tank volume to store an additive therein. The fluid pump may be in fluid communication with the additive tank to motivate a volume of the additive. The dispenser nozzle may be directed toward the drum downstream from the fluid pump to guide the volume of the additive into the space defined by the drum.

Laundry appliance and additive dispensing assembly

A laundry or dryer appliance may include a cabinet, a drum, a transmitter power coil, and an additive dispensing assembly. The transmitter power coil may be mounted to the cabinet proximal to the door. The additive dispensing assembly may include a fluid pump, a receiver power coil, and a dispenser nozzle. The fluid pump may motivate a volume of a liquid additive therefrom for an additive mist to the drum. The receiver power coil may be in selective wireless communication with the transmitter power coil to receive an electromagnetic field therefrom. The receiver power coil may be operably coupled to the fluid pump. The dispenser nozzle may be directed toward the drum downstream from the fluid pump to guide the volume of the liquid additive into the space defined by the drum.

A method of operating a dryer appliance is provided that includes obtaining washer operating parameters from a washing machine appliance that is linked to the dryer appliance and obtaining dryer operating parameters of the dryer appliance. These parameters are transmitted to a remote server along with a user input such as a selected dryness level. The method further includes receiving operating instructions from the remote server and adjusting at least one operating parameter of the dryer appliance based on the operating instructions.

A dryer appliance includes a microphone for monitoring sound generated during operation of the dryer appliance and a controller is operably coupled to the microphone. The controller is configured for obtaining a sound signal generated during operation of the dryer appliance and converting the sound signal into a spectrogram that represents a sound frequency and a sound amplitude over time. An artificial intelligence image recognition process is used to analyze the spectrogram to identify one or more sound signatures that are associated with particular operating conditions, and operation of the dryer appliance is adjusted based at least in part on the identification of the sound signature.

System and method for using sound to monitor the operation of a dryer appliance

A dryer appliance and a method of operating the same to introduce a fragrance into the drying chamber include positioning a reservoir within the cabinet of the dryer appliance. The reservoir contains a fragrant additive and is positioned such that a flow of air may pass through the fragrant additive and into the drying chamber to improve the smell of the drying chamber and articles placed therein. The reservoir may be positioned within the cabinet and covered with a selectively positioned lid or may be placed in fluid communication with an air handler of the dryer appliance to permit the intermingling of the flow of air and the fragrant additive.

An impeller assembly including a housing and an impeller is provided. The impeller is positioned within a volute of the housing and includes a hub and a plurality of blades. The plurality of blades are spaced about the hub along a circumferential direction of the impeller. The plurality of blades include a first pair of blades and a second pair blades. The first pair blades defines a first gap along the circumferential direction at a radially outer portion, and the second pair blades defines a second gap along the circumferential direction at a radially outer portion. The first gap is unequal to the second gap in order to reduce an amount of noise generated by the impeller assembly.

Energy efficiencies are achieved in a dryer or washer/dryer by selectively varying temperature ranges, time periods, heater power levels, and air flow rates. Efficiency improvements on the order of 16% were obtained over typical constant power, constant temperature, timed drying cycles by varying one or more of these parameters. Efficiencies can also be improved by drawing air from alternative warm sources such as an attic or warm external environment, or by heat recovery from dryer exhaust passages.
