The invention relates to fire and impact resistant windows and building structures which contain a window composed of a specific order of layers containing a novel fire resistant layer. The invention further pertains to coating compositions for use with structures containing the windows.

Fire and impact resistant window and building structures

The invention relates to security glass laminates having high strength and impact resistance. The laminates consist of a pane of glass sheets with an ionomer interlayer. The ionomer consists of at least 17% by weight of acrylic acid groups which have been neutralized with a lithium salt.

Transparent laminating resins

The present invention relates to optically clear fire resistant and impact resistant windows having at least one air gap and at least one fire resistant layer. Optionally there is also an anti-spall layer.

Impact and fire resistant windows

There is provided a composition and a method for forming fire resistant panes containing borate-phosphate anions and the window pane and window assemblies prepared therefrom.

Optically clear fire resistant windows

The disclosure defined by this invention provides a method for extruding thermoplastic polymers which includes the step of creating high pressure steam in the extruding apparatus so as to prevent scorching and to solubilize contaminants. The method can be used in a neutralization step of ionomers in an extrusion process to obtain an extrudate having good light transmission and improved impact resistance.

Method for extruding polymers

A container, or keg, for storing, shipping, and dispensing a bulk quantity of a fluid, for example, beer or like malt beverage, is provided. The container/keg includes a flaccid bag () for containing the fluid and a substantially rigid, pressure-tight, plastic vessel () within which the bag () is contained. The bag () has a mouth () secured with a locking ring or the like to an opening in the vessel () via which the mouth () is accessible externally of the vessel () for purposes of filling the bag () with the fluid and/or dispensing the fluid from the bag (). Preferably, the shape of the vessel () permits it to be efficiently stacked and shipped when in a full or empty condition. Methods for assembling, filling and shipping kegs are also provided.

Beer keg and method of assembly

The present inventions teaches an optically transparent film or sheet which is greater than or equal to 0.5 mm in thickness and includes an extrudable ionomer resin which comprises a carboxylic acid polymer and which is essentially free of amines. The ionomer resin film can be used alone or in a lamination with polycarbonate or glass. In certain embodiments, it is preferable to partially or fully neutralize the acid polymer with a metal cation.

Ionomer resin films and laminates thereof

A fire resistant and impact resistant transparent laminate comprising at least two spaced parallel sheets of transparent material selected from the group consisting of ceramic glass and polymeric material, at least one optically transparent fluorocarbon polymer modified with polar groups, at least one optically transparent glass or resinous inner layer between said parallel sheets, and at least one layer of an optically transparent intumescent gel on at least one side of said inner layer.

Fire resistant transparent laminates

An optically transparent aqueous intumescent gel for use with transparent laminates comprising about 5 to 30% by weight acrylamide, about 0 to 4% by weight of a crosslinking agent, about 5 to 28% by weight of an ammonium or alkali metal salt of an alkanoic acid having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, about 0.05 to 10% by weight of a polymerization catalyst, and water, and a laminate with the gel.

Fire resistant windows

The invention relates to an anti-spalling laminated safety glass comprising a relatively thick front lamina, a back glass lamina having a thickness of 0.3 to 1.8 mm, and an intermediate resinous bonding layer, and glazing units formed therewith.

Laminated safety glass

An ionomer resin, a film or sheet of the ionomer resin and laminated articles having a lamina of the ionomer resin film are provided. The ionomer resin consists of ionically crosslinked ethylene-methacrylic acid copolymer or ethylene-arcylic acid copolymer which is neutralized with a polyamine. The polyamine neutralized ionomer resin may be formed into a film or sheet which may be self-supporting or may be laminated to glass to form a safety glass.

A laminated glazing unit having outer sheets of glass or plastic and at least one resinous interlayer bonding the outer layers together. The unit is provided with an attachment member embedded in the interlayer free from contact with the outer sheets for attachment to a support structure.

Laminated articles, particularly safety glass, are disclosed which comprise a lamina of ionomer film laminated to a sheet of glass. The ionomer resin film is preferably an ionically cross-linked resin prepared from ethylene or an alpha-olefin and carboxylic acid monomers. In particular, ethylene and acrylic acid monomers are preferred but other monomers are also disclosed. The laminated articles may also comprise a sheet of polycarbonate laminated to the ionomer resin film opposite the glass. The laminated articles may further comprise an ionomer resin film sandwiched between two sheets of glass. The laminated articles may still further comprise a sheet of polycarbonate or other plastic material or metal sandwiched between sheets of ionomer resin film, which are in turn sandwiched between sheets of glass.

Laminated articles, particularly safety glass, comprising a lamina of ionomer resin film laminated to a sheet of glass. The ionomer resin film is preferably an ionically crosslinked ethylene-methacrylic acid copolymer. The laminated articles may also comprise a sheet of polycarbonate laminated to the ionomer resin film opposite the glass. The laminated articles may further comprise an ionomer resin film sandwiched between two sheets of glass. The laminated articles may still further comprise a sheet of polycarbonate or other plastics sandwiched between sheets of ionomer resin film, which are in turn sandwiched between sheets of glass.
