Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for managing projects in a content management system. In some embodiments, a content management system can generate a graphical user interface that presents a centralized view of a project. For example, the project can include project members, content items, tasks assigned to project members, communications between project members and activity history for the project. The graphical user interface can present this project data (e.g., project members, content items, tasks, communications, activity, etc.) so that a project member can easily and quickly view multiple aspects of the project.

Managing projects in a content management system

The present disclosure relates to generating and utilizing digital associations between digital documents and digital calendar events based on determined content connections. For example, one or more embodiments suggest a digital document to a user for association with a digital calendar event based on content connections between the digital document and the digital calendar event. In particular, one or more embodiments determine a content connection based on document characteristics (e.g., document content and access characteristics) and calendar event characteristics (e.g., calendar content and historical meeting information). For example, the system can train a machine learning model to determine content connections based on document characteristics and calendar event characteristics. By associating digital documents with digital calendar events, the system can efficiently manage digital documents for participants, automatically generate new digital documents for calendar events, generate snippets for insertion within digital documents, and generate calendar event summaries and action items.

Generating digital associations between documents and digital calendar events based on content connections

A collaborative content management system allows users to make revisions to a collaborative content item by previewing revision suggestions without applying changes the underlying collaborative content item. The user can select a portion of the collaborative content item for revision, and modify the selected portion via a user interface. When the user interface is selected, revisions are visible to a user in place of the selected text span; when the user interface is not selected, the original text span is once again displayed. This allows a user to toggle between versions of a collaborative content item. If a user approves a suggested revision, the user can select an approval instruction causing a selected text span to be replaced by revisions made via the user interface. If a user rejects a suggested revision, the user can select a rejection instruction and the selected text span remains within the collaborative content item.

Moderated collaborative editing in collaborative content items

A collaborative content management system enables users to selectively create threads and comments linked to specific portions of an image. An image comment may be indicated by a tag displayed at the location based on the specific portion of the image and having an identifier of the thread. Tags for image comments may be clustered together. When an image having image comments is replaced by a replacement image, the tags from the image may be transferred from the image to the replacement image and displayed at the same relative positions in the replacement image as positioned in the original image.

Image annotations in collaborative content items

Techniques for optimizing search result snippet selection. In one aspect, the techniques include receiving a query and identifying a set of documents matching the query. A set of one or more snippet field types for a snippet representing a corresponding document of the set of documents is selected based at least in part on a snippet selection model. The snippet selection model is adjusted to reinforce or discourage selection of the set of one or more snippet field types for future queries based on the user click.

Optimizing search result snippet selection

An automated system and method for presenting trending content items to a user in a graphical user interface. The system and method generates trend scores of content items for a user based on current interactions with the content items by top collaborators of the user. By accounting for trends in the form of current content item interactions by collaborators, the system and method determines which content items are both currently relevant to a given user and currently trending among the user's collaborators. The system and method presents content items determined to be trending for a user in a graphical user interface presented to the user. The system and method system improve computers for information discovery by enabling users to spend less time searching for content items.
