Pipe insulation includes indicia thereon to facilitate differentiating the pipe insulation from other pipe insulation, even when a majority of the pipe insulation is not visible to a user.

Systems for and methods of differentiating pipe insulation

Pipe insulation assemblies () comprising tubular insulation () having a longitudinal slit (), a jacket (), releasable tape (), butt sealant strips (), and/or closing adhesives are disclosed. The jacket () overlays the outer surface of the tubular insulation (). The jacket () has an extended lip portion () extending beyond the longitudinal slit (). An adhesive () and an internal release liner () are located on the extended lip portion ().

Pipe insulation assembly

An exemplary foam insulation board includes a plurality of insulation panels hingeably connected by hinged portions. The foam insulation board has a folded configuration and an unfolded configuration. The hinged portions allow the insulation panels to fold flat against each other in the folded configuration. The plurality of insulation panels includes a first insulation panel and a plurality of additional insulation panels, one of which is adjacent to the first insulation panel. The first insulation panel also includes a starter portion that extends beyond at least the adjacent insulation panel of the additional panels.

An exemplary duct system includes a rigid duct member, a first duct connector connected to the rigid duct member, a first sealing member disposed between the rigid duct member and the first duct connector, a flexible duct, a second duct connector connected to the flexible duct, and a second sealing member disposed between the first duct connector and the second duct connector. The first duct connector is assembled to the second duct connector to compress the second sealing member and form a seal between the first duct connector and the second duct connector and thereby form a seal between the rigid duct member and the flexible duct.

Cavity walls include fasteners that provide a thermal break. A cavity wall assembly includes a support structure, insulation, and an outer wythe. The insulation is mounted on the support structure. The outer wythe is spaced apart from the insulation, such that a cavity is formed between the insulation and the outer wythe. A tie is attached to the outer wythe. A fastener extends through a portion of the tie, through the insulation, and into the support structure to attach the tie to the support structure. The fastener provides a thermal break between the support structure and the tie. At least a portion of the thermal break is disposed within a width of the insulation.

A jacket configured to encase building component insulation is provided. The jacket comprises at least inner layer, an intermediate layer attached to the inner layer, and an outer layer attached to the intermediate layer. The inner layer, intermediate layer and outer layers are configured for attachment to each other with the use at least one of heat, polymeric material, and pressure. Additionally, the jacket complies with the standards of flame retardancy as provided by ASTM C1136.

A type of (and method of making) fiberglass insulation is disclosed. Such insulation comprises: glass fibers; a polyacrylic glycerol (PAG) binder coating said glass fibers; and at least one of a coloring agent and a biocide adhered to said PAG binder. Such fiberglass insulation can take the form of a batt, board (a heated and compressed batt) or molding media (a different form of heated and compressed batt). The coloring agent and/or the biocide can be applied where the batt (or board or molding media, as the case may be) is manufactured or can be applied after the batt is installed in the field.
