A medical robot system, including a robot coupled to an end effector element with the robot configured for controlled movement and positioning. The robot system includes a robot base having a display, a robot arm coupled to the robot base, wherein movement of the robot arm is electronically controlled by the robot base. The end-effector is coupled to the robot arm, containing one or more end-effector tracking markers. The system also includes a plurality of dynamic reference bases (DRB) attached to multiple patient fixture instruments, wherein the plurality of dynamic reference bases include one or more tracking markers indicating a position of the patient fixture instrument in a navigational space. The system also includes a first camera system and a second camera system, the first and second camera systems being able to detect a plurality of tracking markers.

Surgical robot platform

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a surgical robot system may include an end-effector element configured for controlled movement and positioning and tracking of surgical instruments and objects relative to an image of a patient's anatomical structure. In some embodiments the end-effector and instruments may be tracked by surgical robot system and displayed to a user. In some embodiments, tracking of a target anatomical structure and objects, both in a navigation space and an image space, may be provided by a dynamic reference base located at a position away from the target anatomical structure.

Surgical tool systems and methods

Active end-effectors for guiding an instrument during a robot-assisted surgery. The surgical robot system may include a robot having a robot base, a robot arm coupled to the robot base, and the active end-effector coupled to the robot arm. The active end-effector may have a slide mechanism, which may provide for a greater range of motion of a surgical instrument along a vertical axis.

Active end effectors for surgical robots

A method for registration of digital medical images is provided. The method includes the step of storing a 3D digital medical image having a 3D anatomical feature and a first coordinate system and storing a 2D digital medical image having a 2D anatomical feature and a second coordinate system. The method further includes the steps of storing a placement of a digital medical object on the 3D digital medical image and the 2D digital medical image and generating a simulated 2D digital medical image from the 3D digital medical image, wherein the simulated 2D digital medical image comprises a simulated 2D anatomical feature corresponding to the 3D anatomical feature. The 2D anatomical feature is compared with the simulated 2D anatomical feature until a match is reached and a registration of the first coordinate system with the second coordinate system based on the match is determined.

Method and system for improving 2D-3D registration convergence

Surgical robot systems, anatomical structure tracker apparatuses, and US transducer apparatuses are disclosed. A surgical robot system includes a robot, a US transducer, and at least one processor. The robot includes a robot base, a robot arm coupled to the robot base, and an end-effector coupled to the robot arm. The end-effector is configured to guide movement of a surgical instrument. The US transducer is coupled to the end-effector and operative to output US imaging data of anatomical structure proximately located to the end-effector. The least one processor is operative to obtain an image volume for the patient and to track pose of the end-effector relative to anatomical structure captured in the image volume based on the US imaging data.

Ultrasonic robotic surgical navigation

Methods may be provided to identify a medical implant from a plurality of medical implants to be fixed to an anatomical surface. Dimensional parameters for each of the plurality of medical implants may be provided, and dimensional parameters corresponding to the anatomical surface may be provided. The dimensional parameters for each of the plurality of medical implants may be compared with the dimensional parameters corresponding to the anatomical surface, and one of the medical implants may be selected from the plurality of medical implants based on comparing the dimensional parameters for each of the plurality of medical implants with the dimensional parameters corresponding to the anatomical surface. An identification of the medical implant selected from the plurality of medical implants may be provided through a user interface. Related devices and computer program products are also discussed.

The transcorporeal microdecompression may include a bone void plug allograft and specialized instruments for performing the procedure. Systems and methods for transcorporeal microdecompression

Methods may be provided to operate an image-guided surgical system using imaging information for a 3-dimensional anatomical volume. A pose of a probe that defines a longitudinal axis may be detected based on information received from a tracking system. A placement of a virtual implant for the 3-dimensional anatomical volume may be determined based on the pose of the probe and based on an offset from an end of the probe along the longitudinal axis, such that a trajectory of the virtual implant is in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the probe in the pose. After determining the placement of the virtual implant, the virtual implant may be adjusted in response to movement of the probe while maintaining the trajectory of the virtual implant.

An automated medical system and method for using the automated medical system. The automated medical system may comprise a robot support system. The robot support system may comprise a robot body. The robot support system may further comprise a selective compliance articulated robot arm coupled to the robot body and operable to position a tool at a selected position in a surgical procedure. The robot support system may further comprise an activation assembly operable to transmit a move signal to the selective compliance articulated robot arm allowing an operator to move the selective compliance articulated robot arm. The automated medical system may further comprise a camera tracking system and an automated imaging system.

Surgical robotic systems and methods thereof

A method may be provided to operate a surgical robotic system including a robotic arm configured to position a surgical end-effector with respect to an anatomical location of a patient. Position information may be received where the position information is generated using a sensor system remote from the robotic arm and remote from the patient. The position information may include position information relating to a tracking device affixed to the patient and position information relating to the surgical end-effector. The robotic arm may be controlled to move the surgical end-effector to a target trajectory relative to the anatomical location of the patient based on the position information generated using the sensor system.

Surgical robotic systems with target trajectory deviation monitoring and related methods

Embodiments consistent with the present disclosure allow the ring, arc, and linear offset values for a stereotactic frame to be determined for a cranial procedure without requiring a CT scan to be acquired with the fiducial frame attached. Having the ring, arc, and offset values available for a cranial procedure allows the surgeon to revert to traditional stereotactic ring-arc frame guidance as a fallback strategy in case a robot cannot be used. Surgical robotic automation with tracking markers and controlled tool advancement

A method may be provided to operate a medical system. First data may be provided for a first 3-dimensional (3D) image scan of an anatomical volume, with the first data identifying a blood vessel node in a first coordinate system for the first 3D image scan. Second data may be provided for a second 3D image scan of the anatomical volume, with the second data identifying the blood vessel node in a second coordinate system for the second 3D image scan. The first and second coordinate systems for the first and second 3D image scans of the anatomical volume may be co-registered using the blood vessel node identified in the first data and in the second data as a fiducial.

Robotic systems providing co-registration using natural fiducials and related methods

Devices, systems, and methods for detecting unexpected movement of a surgical instrument during a robot-assisted surgical procedure are provided. The surgical robot system may be configured to measure forces and torques experienced by the surgical instrument during the surgical procedure and determine if the forces and torques are within an acceptable range.
