The invention comprises a cable splice enclosure comprises a base having an outlet capable of receiving a cable a hollow cover which can be fixed to the base to close at least partially the enclosure such that the adjacent external surfaces of the base and the cover lay substantially flush, in which the base and cover, and a ring means which prevents the separation of the base and cover, said means lying substantially flush with or below said adjacent external surfaces and said ring means having a broader base adjacent the enclosure than the side facing away from the enclosure. The invention also includes a device for joning two items in interdigitated fashion wherein a ring having a cross-sectional base greater adjacent the two items to be joined than away therefrom lies in a recess between the two parts to be joined.

Optical fiber enclosure including novel retaining ring

A double-walled article in the form of a tube having a small volume filling of a friction-reducing liquid or solid between its two walls. The article is able to revolve over a substrate by relative sliding motion between its two walls, to provide environmental or electrical protection.

Tubular article

A self-contained solder delivery device comprises a housing, a quantity of solder together with flux and a pressuring means for forcing the solder from the housing. The device can be used in a connector for use in connecting the conductors of electric power cables.

Solder delivery device

A seal is provided around one or more supply lines, such as pipes, wires or cables, extending through an aperture in a bulkhead. A heat recoverable tubular article having a radially extending flange is recovered onto the supply line. A resilient annular member is held in sealing engagement against the face of the flange. Fittings are positioned over the recovered article to sealingly engage the assembly to the bulkhead aperture.

Bulkhead seal

An electrical connector comprising at least one metallic tubular sleeve having an open end for receiving an electrical conductor and a closed end, the peripheral inner wall of the sleeve being pretinned; a slug of solder, having a flux associated therewith, hermetically sealed within the sleeve proximate the closed end; a piston positioned between the closed end and the slug and capable of axial motion within the sleeve; means which on application of sufficient heat to raise the temperature of the connector to a first temperature, T.sub.1, which is the activation temperature of the flux, breaks the hermetic seal, permits the flux and gaseous products thereof to expand and flow toward the conductor; and pressuring means between the piston and the closed end of the sleeve which, on application of sufficient heat to raise the temperature of the connector to a second temperature, T.sub.2, which is higher than the first temperature and which is the melting temperature of the solder, exerts sufficient force on the piston to cause it to move toward the open end of the sleeve and to pressure the slug of solder toward the open end of the sleeve.

Electrical connector

A hoisting attachment for a tilt-up wall slab is provided with a remotely operable quick release mechanism which is under the control of the positional attitude of a hoisting cable-attached shackle. An improved assemblage of wall slab insert anchor, support stand for the insert anchor, and a recess former frictionally attached to the upper end of the anchor is also provided.

Lift system for tilt-up walls

A plug frictionally fits within the lifting eye of an anchor insert of a tilt-up wall slab. The plug is provided with pin receiving passageways whereby a pin-bearing cover plate may be attached to the plug to cover over the access recess to the anchor insert.

Cover for concrete voids of lifting inserts

A thin-wall tube specimen is biaxially tested for stress analysis by applying compressive axial stress and either internal surface pressure or external surface pressure to the specimen. Torsion is not required. The sample is positioned between platens which are assembled inside a pressure collet. Axial compressive stress is applied through the platens to the specimen, and hydraulic pressure is applied through the assembly to the internal and external cylindrical surfaces of the specimen. Rubber bladders may be employed when applying the surface pressures.
