A method for forging location measurements at a wireless device can include determining, at the wireless device, a Cell-ID for a cell in a vicinity of a false location. The method can also include receiving, at the wireless device, an identification of a set of satellites that are within view from the false location. The method can further include generating, at the wireless device, forged location measurements that characterize satellite signals from a subset of the set of satellites that would be received at the false location. The method can still further include providing, from the wireless device, the forged location measurements.

System and method for location assurance of a mobile device

A method for a mobile location center (MLC) to determine a location of a mobile device in a wireless communication network includes receiving a request to determine the location of the mobile device; concurrently requesting global navigation satellite system (GNSS) measurements from the mobile device and terrestrial measurements from transceivers in the wireless communication network, and receiving the GNSS measurements and at least one of the terrestrial measurements. A GNSS location of the mobile device is calculated as a function of the GNSS measurements, and the calculated GNSS location is determined to be the location of the mobile device when the calculated GNSS location meets a predetermined accuracy threshold. A terrestrial location of the mobile device is calculated as a function of the terrestrial measurements, and the calculated terrestrial location is determined to be the location of the mobile device when the calculated terrestrial location meets the predetermined accuracy threshold.

System and method for concurrently determining locations of mobile device in wireless communication network

A system and method for determining a set of satellites for which assistance data may be provided to a wireless device. A boundary for an approximate area in which the wireless device is located may be determined and one or more sets of satellites may be determined as a function of the boundary. An optimum set of satellites from the one or more sets of satellites may then be determined using a satellite selection function on the one or more sets of satellites at predetermined points substantially on the boundary.

A system and method for determining whether an estimated location of a wireless device includes one or more forged location measurements. A first estimated location of the wireless device using a first set of location measurements is determined, and a second estimated location of the wireless device using a second set of location measurements is determined. The first estimated location may be compared to the second estimated location. One of the determined locations may then be identified as having one or more forged location measurements if the comparison between the first estimated location and second estimated location is greater than a predetermined threshold. The second set of location measurements may be produced using a location technology different than the location technology used to produce the first set of location measurements.

A system and method for determining the location of a wireless device. A boundary for an approximate area in which the wireless device is located is determined and a plurality of satellites may be determined as a function of the boundary. Assistance data is transmitted to the device which includes information from the plurality of satellites, and the location of the wireless device may be determined from the information. A location request may be received for the wireless device, the location request identifying location information for the wireless device. A first set of signals from a plurality of radio frequency ('RF') sources may be received at a mobile device and then downconverted into a second set of signals. If measured code phase information in the satellite measurements substantially correlates to the uncertainty window, then the wireless device may be transmitting forged satellite measurements.

A system and method for determining one or more satellites in view of a wireless device. A request for satellite assistance data may be received from a requesting entity and a reference location determined as a function of the request. A set of satellites may be determined as a function of the reference location. Subsequent cached information may be determined for each satellite in the set of satellites if cached information already existing for each satellite in the set of satellites has been cached for greater than a predetermined time period. This subsequent cached information may then replace the previously existing cached information for the reference location. One or more satellites in view of the wireless device may then be determined as a function of either the subsequent cached information or previously existing cached information, and assistance data may be provided to the requesting entity to determine an estimated location of the wireless device.

A system and method for determining a location of a wireless device in a communications network. A request for satellite assistance data may be received from a requesting entity, and a reference location determined as a function of the request. One or more characterizing attributes may be identified as a function of the reference location, and a set of satellites determined as a function of the reference location. It may also be determined whether more than one set of signal measurements should be acquired from one or more satellites in the set of satellites as a function of the identified one or more characterizing attributes. The one or more sets of signal measurements may be acquired, and a location of the wireless device determined from the acquired measurements.

A method is provided for determining a location of a mobile device in a wireless network. The method includes receiving global navigation satellite system (GNSS) measurements from the mobile device, and receiving terrestrial measurements from corresponding transceivers in the wireless network, each terrestrial measurement indicating a distance between the corresponding transceivers and the mobile device. The method further includes selecting at least one terrestrial measurement having an uncertainty value within a predetermined accuracy threshold. The location of the mobile device is determined as a function of the GNSS measurements and the selected terrestrial measurement.

A system and method for estimating the location of a wireless device. A set of satellites may be determined as a function of an approximate area in which the wireless device is located. Assistance data is transmitted to the device including information from the set of satellites, and a location of the device may be estimated from the information where the assistance data prevents the wireless device from searching for signals from one or more satellites in the set of satellites. The one or more satellites may be an operable satellite but signals therefrom cannot be measured or acquired by the wireless device.

A device receives a first plurality of signals comprising one signal from each of a first plurality of satellites and determines a first location of the device as a function of the first plurality of signals. The device then determines a second location thereof as a function of a second plurality of signals if the first location is not within a predetermined threshold. The second plurality of signals is a first subset of the first plurality of signals.
