A re-stacker assembly used to stack container closures that are output by a can liner system includes at least one offloading assembly having a receiving portion, at least one loading device coupled to the offloading assembly, and a motion control system for detecting motion of the container closures and, in response to detecting such motion, driving the loading device to stack, or re-stack, the container closures in a predetermined manner.

Star wheel

A rotary tank assembly is provided for a liner. The liner is structured to apply a compound to a plurality of container closures. The rotary tank assembly includes a compound tank, a fill tube structured to fill the tank with a volume of the compound to a desired level, a sensor assembly adapted to measure the level of the compound within the compound tank, and a rotary union assembly structured to pivotably couple the fill tube and the sensor assembly to the compound tank. The sensor assembly only requires one single probe.

Liner and rotary tank assembly therefor

A load assembly includes a supply mechanism structured to supply a plurality of container closures, and a conveyance assembly comprising a star wheel including a number of load pockets structured to receive the container closures and move the container closures from the supply mechanism to a processing assembly. The star wheel has an outer perimeter. Each of the load pockets is structured to receive a corresponding one of the container closures inboard of the outer perimeter of the star wheel.

Liner and load assembly therefor

A conversion system wherein a crankshaft drives the motion of the tooling assemblies within a number of lanes is provided. The crankshaft is structured to move the tooling assemblies associated with less than the total number of lanes. That is, for example, a four lane conversion press could include two crankshafts each actuating the tooling assemblies of two lanes. In an exemplary embodiment, each lane has a single associated crankshaft. The conversion system includes a multiple press drive assembly with a clutch/brake assembly and a flywheel assembly. The clutch/brake assembly is structured to suspend operation of the press units while the flywheel assembly stores energy in a flywheel. When operation of the press units is restarted, energy from the flywheel aids the motor in bringing the press units to an operating speed.

Drive assembly for conversion system

The disclosed and claimed compressed gas system provides for the use of a rotary valve assembly in association with a cupper. A compressed gas system that utilizes a rotary valve assembly uses less gas than a constant flow compressed gas system and is quieter than a compressed gas system that uses valves. The rotary valve is a disk-like body having an opening therethrough. The rotary valve body is disposed within a housing assembly wherein gas may only flow through the housing when the rotary valve body is properly aligned with a space on one side of the rotary valve body.

A method of lining container closures includes providing a liner machine base including a number of fluid dispensing apparatus fixed in a stationary position on the base, conveying a plurality of container closures to the fluid dispensing apparatus using a conveying assembly, manipulating each of the container closures with respect to a corresponding one of the fluid dispensing apparatus as the fluid dispensing apparatus remains stationary and dispenses a sealant, lining a plurality of the container closures with said sealant, and, discharging the container closures from the liner machine.

Method for lining container closures

An air halo assembly for a spray gun assembly is provided. The spray gun assembly includes a fluid supply assembly, an air supply assembly, and an air halo nozzle assembly. The air halo nozzle assembly includes a liquid nozzle assembly and an air halo assembly. The fluid supply assembly is coupled to, and is in fluid communication with, the liquid nozzle assembly. The air halo nozzle assembly is structured to produce a liquid flow stream having a longitudinal axis. The air halo assembly includes a body. The air halo assembly body defines a passage. The air halo assembly body passage includes an inlet and an air halo outlet. The air halo assembly body passage inlet is structured to be in fluid communication with the air supply assembly.

A method of lining container closures is provided. A device for calibrating a spray gun and an associated method are provided. The spray gun has a nozzle that is opened and closed by moving an internal needle out of and into sealing engagement with the nozzle. A virtual position of the needle is tracked and recorded by the control system. The control system is recalibrated when the virtual position and the actual position of the needle do not correspond. The device includes a sensor structured to detect characteristics of the current used to power the solenoid, and to identify an anomaly in solenoid current characteristics associated with an actuator member seating against said solenoid. During calibration, the solenoid is placed in a calibration configuration and the identifiable anomaly is detected. When the identifiable anomaly is detected, the spray gun is returned to an initial configuration and the virtual needle position is reset.
