Methods, apparatuses, and computer readable media for quality-of-service policies in wireless local area networks. Apparatuses of a station (STA) are disclosed, where the apparatuses comprise processing circuitry configured to encode for transmission to an access point (AP) a quality of service (QoS) query frame and decode a QoS request frame from the AP, the QoS request frame indicating a plurality of QoS policies offered by the AP. The processing circuitry may be further configured to encode for transmission to the AP a QoS response frame, the QoS response frame indicating a status of a QoS policy of the plurality of QoS policies. Apparatuses of the AP are disclosed to encode QoS request frames and decode QoS response frames. The AP and STAs implement the negotiated QoS policies by using a QoS WLAN priority based on frames including packets being sent and received from specific addresses.

For example, an apparatus may be configured to cause an Extremely High Throughput (EHT) wireless communication station (STA) to set a control field including presence signaling information corresponding to a plurality of parameter fields, the presence signaling information configured to indicate, for a parameter field of the plurality of parameter fields, whether the parameter field is to be present or absent in a Quality of Service (QoS) element; and to transmit a frame including the QoS element, the QoS element including the control field, wherein the presence or absence of the plurality of parameter fields in the QoS element is configured according to the presence signaling information in the control field.

An extremely high-throughput (EHT) station (STA) encodes a management frame to include a quality-of-service (QoS) capability element that includes a QoS information field configured to signal QoS redundancy capability. The EHT STA may set a QoS redundancy bit in the QoS information field of the QoS capabilities element to indicate (i.e., signal) that the EHT STA supports redundancy for QoS data frames. The EHT STA may include an Extended Capabilities element in the management frame and set a new redundancy indicator bit in the Extended Capabilities element to indicate (i.e., signal) that the EHT STA supports redundancy for a select subset of IEEE802.11 management frames.

This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to a mechanism to enable a federated onboarding service in an OpenRoaming™ framework. A device may receive a prompt to initiate onboarding of the device to a framework. The device may the initiate a federated onboarding service process at an access network provider (ANP) that is connected to the device, wherein the federated onboarding service process is configured to onboard the device to the framework. The device may further receive a list of available identity providers (IdPs) configured for the framework and receive a selection of an IdP of the list of available IdPs. The device may then establish a connection between the IdP and the device. The device may receive an IdP-generated user-specific profile, and the device may connect to the framework using the user-specific profile.

A next generation NodeB (gNB) implements a radio access network (RAN) convergence functionality for new radio (NR) and wireless local area network (WLAN) access, the gNB further implementing a split architecture comprising a central unit (CU) and a distributed unit (DU) for each of the NR access and WLAN access. The gNB receives a data packet for transmission to a user equipment (UE) implementing the RAN convergence functionality, the data packet comprising one of a control plane (CP) packet or a user plane (UP) packet. The gNB splits the data packet via a convergence layer residing on the NR CU or a convergence layer residing on the WLAN CU and transmits the split data packet over the NR access and the WLAN access.

A Quality-of-Service (QoS) Management AP is configured to support QoS Management features and to perform a QoS Management Protocol. The AP decodes an Enhanced Add Traffic Stream (E-ADDTS) Request QoS Action Frame (E-ADDTS Req) received from a station (STA) to initiate QoS setup for a traffic stream. The STA may be a QoS Management STA configured to support the QoS Management features and perform the QoS Management protocol. The AP may encode, for transmission to the STA in response to the E-ADDTS Req, an E-ADDTS Response QoS Action Frame (E-ADDTS Resp) which includes a status code to indicate whether the QoS setup has been accepted. When the QoS setup is accepted, the E-ADDTS Resp includes a QoS setup ID within a QoS setup ID field in the E-ADDTS Resp that uniquely identifies the QoS setup for the traffic stream.

Extensible enhanced QoS framework for signaling requirements

A station (STA) configured for Quality-of-Service (QoS) management performs a Simple Reflective QoS (SRQ) protocol with an access point (AP) (i.e., another QoS STA) for QoS management of a QoS flow. As part of the SRQ protocol to exchange QoS profiles, the STA may encode a request frame to include a first SRQ capabilities information element (IE) for transmission to the AP. The inclusion of the first SRQ capabilities IE indicating that the STA supports the SRQ protocol. The STA may also decode a response frame received from the AP. The response frame includes a second SRQ capabilities IE indicating that the AP supports the SRQ protocol. The STA may also determine a QoS profile for the QoS flow based on SRQ capabilities of the STA and the AP. The STA may also create a SRQ tuple based the QoS profile for initiating the QoS flow.

Stream classification service (SCS) for mobile and network centric end-to-end WLAN QoS management

An access point (AP) station (STA) (AP STA) that is part of an AP multi-link device (MLD) may be configured as a reporting AP may encode a BSS Transition Management (BTM) request frame for transmission to one or more associated non-AP stations (STAs). The BTM request frame may include a neighbor report element encoded to include information about one or more neighbor APs. The neighbor report element may indicate whether the one or more neighbor APs identified in the neighbor report element are part of an AP MLD and, when a neighbor AP is indicated to be part of an AP MLD whether the reporting AP is part of the indicated AP MLD. The AP STA may decode a reassociation frame from one of the non-AP STAs for transition from one of the AP STAs of the AP MLD to one of the neighbor APs.

Apparatuses, computer readable media, and methods for received signal strength indicator (RSSI) thresholds for transitions are disclosed. An apparatus comprising processing circuitry is disclosed, where the processing circuitry is configured to associate with a first access point (AP), the first AP being part of an extended service set (ESS), decode a frame from the first AP, the frame including an ESS report element, the ESS report element including a recommended basic service set (BSS) transition threshold within the ESS field, and decode a beacon frame from the first AP. The processing circuitry may be further configured to respond to a measured RSSI of the beacon frame being below a value indicated by the recommended BSS transition threshold within the ESS field, by initiating a transition to a second AP.

For example, a multiband wireless communication device may include a receiver to receive a first message from a mobile device, the first message including multiband capability information indicating a plurality of supported wireless communication bands of the mobile device; a controller to select a selected wireless communication band from the plurality of supported wireless communication bands; and a transmitter to transmit a second message to the mobile device, the second message including an indication of the selected wireless communication band.

Embodiments of a high efficiency (HE) access point (HE AP) and HE station (HE STA) are generally described herein. The HE AP may transmit a frame that includes a transmit power envelope element to indicate local maximum transmit power constraints for an operating bandwidth of the HE AP on a per-segment basis. The operating bandwidth may be configurable for division into segments of a configurable segment size. The transmit power envelope element may include: a transmit power information field that includes: a local maximum transmit power count subfield that indicates the operating bandwidth, and a segment size subfield that indicates the segment size; and for each of the segments, a local maximum transmit power per segment field that indicates a local maximum transmit power for the segment.
