One embodiment provides a method, including: obtaining, utilizing at least one image capture device, at least one image of an eye of a user; identifying, from the at least one image, a plurality of characteristics of the eye, wherein at least one of the characteristics includes a position of a pupil of the eye; generating, based upon the plurality of characteristics of the eye, a plurality of images, wherein each of the plurality of images is generated for a portion of the eye; and presenting, utilizing at least one display device, the plurality of images to the eye, wherein each of the plurality of images is presented to a portion of the eye corresponding to the image generated for the given portion of the eye. Multi-tiled plenoptic system for the detection and correction of ocular defects and for improved foveated rendering

An apparatus, including: a plurality of lens tiles; and a base housing and positioning the plurality of lens tiles in an array configuration; the base comprising a plurality of light-occluding barriers, wherein each of the plurality of light-occluding barriers is located between two adjacent of the plurality of lens tiles. Crosstalk barrier in a lens array

One embodiment provides a method, including: obtaining, using at least one image obtaining sensor of an image capture device, image data; tracking, using a gaze detection sensor, a user's gaze on a display of the image capture device, wherein a plurality of lens tiles are disposed on the display and wherein each of the plurality of lens tiles cover a portion of the display; predicting, using a processor and based on the tracking, a subsequent gaze location on the display that the user's gaze is expected to be directed toward; transmitting, using a processor, additional image data to the display associated with the portion of the plurality of lens tiles the user is currently viewing and the another portion of the display associated with the new set of the plurality of lens tiles; and updating, responsive to identifying that the user's gaze has transitioned to the subsequent gaze location and using the additional image data, the image data associated with the another portion of the display corresponding to the new set of the plurality of lens tiles. Low latency networking of plenoptic data

An apparatus and system for an image capture device that captures images utilizing a lens made of a plurality of lenslets that each capture an image. Utilizing information of the lenslets and range of view of the lenslets, the system can modify the image being captured to capture information chosen by a user and ignore other image information. For example, the system can chose a particular distance for object capture, pan/tilt/zoom information, focal length information, depth of field information, or the like. Plenoptic integral imaging light field, full-focus, single-element volumetric capture lens and system

An apparatus and system for a display screen for use in near-eye display devices. Small light emitting devices are placed behind a plurality of light-directing beads. The light emitting devices and light-directing beads for a display device and system placed in front of a user for near-eye display. This allows a user to experience near-eye display with greater resolution, wider field of view and faster frame rate. Other embodiments are described herein.

Near-eye foveal display

A single pixel of a video display can display respective individual pixels of multiple views. In other words, a video display can include more views for an autostereoscopic image than the physical pixels of the video display would ordinarily support. The physical pixel is time-multiplexed in that the physical pixel displays a pixel of one view for a given time interval and a view multiplexer deflects the light from the physical pixel by a predetermined angle to make the pixel appear in a location corresponding to the pixel of the view. In another time interval, the physical pixel displays a pixel of a different view and the view multiplexer deflects light from the physical pixel by a different predetermined angle to make the pixel appear in a location corresponding to the pixel of the different view.

Resolution for autostereoscopic video displays

An autostereoscopic display system includes a display including a plurality of addressable pixels. Each of the plurality of pixels includes two or more sub-pixels. The display is adapted to have n views in the horizontal direction wherein n is an integer greater than or equal to 2. A native pixel density of the display in the horizontal direction divided by n is greater than 75% of a native pixel density in the vertical direction. The system further includes a view selector that, for each of two or more viewing perspectives, makes one of the views visible and a multiplexer system in operative connection with the display. The multiplexer system is adapted to controllably shift light horizontally from at least one of the plurality of pixels.

Autostereoscopic displays

An apparatus, including: a lens layer comprising a plurality of lenticular lenses, wherein the plurality of lenticular lenses comprise a predetermined focal length, an image layer comprising printed media; wherein the image layer is disposed behind the lens layer; and a pane layer comprising at least one illumination source; wherein the at least one illumination source illuminates the lens layer, image layer, and pane layer, generating a visualization of a three-dimensional image of the printed media. Ambient-light-visible, floating hologram display

An apparatus and system that uses lenses in front of a display screen to correct the vision of a user in near-eye display devices. The lenses replace the fixed lenses of typical near-eye display devices. The lenses have a wide range of adjustability such that users that require corrective eyeglass lenses or contacts can bring the displayed image into proper focus. This allows a user to experience near-eye display devices without the need for additional corrective lenses.

Voltage adjustable near-eye optical lens

An aspect provides a method of modifying a display including a plurality of pixels wherein each of the pixels is less than twice as tall as the pixel is wide includes modifying the display to create a plurality of modified pixels wherein each of the modified pixels is at least twice as tall as the modified pixel is wide, comprising at least one of a) masking of at least a portion of the display, b) optically shifting a perceived position of at least one row of sub-pixels of the display, and c) changing the addressing of sub-pixels of the display. Other aspects are described and claimed.

A device displays one of multiple views of a three-dimensional image and changes the particular view displayed in response to physical movement of the device. Each of the multiple two-dimensional views of a three-dimensional image is associated with orientations or ranges of orientations of the device. The device displays the one of the views associated with the current orientation of the device. As the device is moved from one orientation to another, the device displays the view associated with the current orientation in place of the view associated with the former orientation. The orientation can be angular orientation about a vertical axis or horizontal axis, or both axes.

Display of three-dimensional images using a two-dimensional display

A number of elements within a venue of a live-action event to be televised are tagged with wireless tracking devices to provide accurate and timely location information for all of the elements to facilitate direction of audiovisual capture devices such as cameras and microphones, to automatically regulate convergence, to automatically vertically align paired left- and right-eye views, and to synthesize part or all of 3D scenes when such are not otherwise available.
