An electric motor bicycle system with an electric motor driven gear adapted to drive a wheel gear coupled to a bicycle hub. The motor driven gear is coupled to the wheel gear with a chain. The chain may be tensioned with one or more tensioners, which allow for a tighter system geometry. The motor may be supported with a bracket adapted to mount to industry standard disc brake mounting interfaces. In some aspects, the motor driven gear is coupled to the disc mounting interface of a wheel hub. In some aspects, the electric motor bicycle system may also have a disc brake system integrated therein.

Electric bicycle motor system

A regenerative braking energy dissipater system which is adapted to dissipate energy from a regenerative brake in the case when the battery cannot accept further energy. The system may switch the energy flow from the battery to a dissipater when the battery has reached a high level of charge. The dissipater may include load resistors. The system may be designed such that the airflow around the dissipater flows over and under the dissipating plate.

Regenerative braking energy dissipater and system and method of using same

An adjustable hand brake lever assembly for a proportional electric braking system for a bicycle or other vehicle. The brake lever assembly may include a sensor assembly which is adapted for use with a standard brake lever assembly as used with mechanical cable braking systems. The sensor assembly may be replaced as a unit. The sensor assembly is adapted to allow for setting the reach adjustment, allowing a user to set a preferred initial position. The adjustable brake lever assembly may be coupled to a control electronic module and a regenerative braking system on a bicycle.

Adjustable brake lever sensor system

A device for sensing a bicycle pedaling torque input includes: a housing; a bearing defining a rotational axis; a bearing support member that positions the bearing with respect to the housing, the bearing support member including one or more beams; an output member configured to be coupled to a chain ring, the output member being coupled to an inner race of the bearing to enable the output member to rotate with respect to the housing about the rotational axis; a spindle configured to be coupled to a bicycle pedal crank, the spindle functionally coupled to the output member to enable a rider pedaling force applied to the spindle to cause rotation of the output member; and one or more strain gauges, each of the one or more strain gauges being coupled a beam of the bearing support member.

Bicycle pedaling torque sensing systems, methods, and devices

A pedal-electric bicycle utilizes an e-clutch to prevent a motor of the pedal-electric bicycle that is fixedly engaged to a drivetrain of the pedal-electric bicycle from resisting movement of the drivetrain when the motor is not transferring power to the drivetrain. The e-clutch causes the motor to operate at a minimum torque level to overcome the internal resistance thereof. The use of an e-clutch beneficially permits the elimination of a mechanical motor clutch, thus reducing complexity, cost, and weight of the pedal-electric bicycle.

E-clutch for pedelec bicycle

A high conductivity battery contact that comprises: a printed circuit board, a compressive spring, a tab containing thin, flat and highly electrically conductive metal. Said tab has three sections: a mounting section connected to said printed circuit board, a flexible intermediate section and a contact section with an outward facing surface roughly parallel with said circuit board. These parts form a layered assembly with said compressive spring positioned between the tab contact section and the printed circuit board. When a cylindrical battery cell is placed into position, the tab contact section is pressed into contact against an end of said cylindrical battery cell by said compressive spring.

High conductivity battery contact

A steering system for a cycle that facilitates the placement of a horizontal cargo platform above and in close proximity to the front wheel. The steering system may be applied to numerous types of cycles including bicycles, electric bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, three wheeled vehicles, etc. The steering system comprises a fork assembly that is rotatably mounted to the frame near the top of said fork. The fork is supported in its lower portion by pushrods that both steer and structurally support the fork assembly.
