A shoe extension for gait modification includes a vamp section, a base section, an attachment strap, and a restraining mechanism. The vamp section is connected to a top surface of the base section forming a receiving slot. A toe box of a shoe worn on a healthy limb is slidably positioned into the receiving slot such that the base section is positioned along an outsole of the shoe. The attachment strap is utilized to establish a connection with the shoe. By increasing an overall length of the footwear worn on the healthy limb, a speed of motion of the healthy limb may be reduced in order to increase weight bearing on the unhealthy limb. The restraining mechanism, which is preferably integrated into a bottom surface of the base section, may also be used to reduce the speed of motion of the healthy limb.

Shoe extension for patient gait modification

A treadmill may be configured for gait training and/or therapy with attachable/detachable barriers affixable to a belt and/or with a vertical obstacle module and/or with sensor systems, but without requiring hoists, harnesses, attachments to the treadmill or base, or frame, and/or excessively high treadmill frames, such as those that exceed the height of the person on the treadmill. The barriers on the belt are configured to modify movement of only one foot of a person on the treadmill. The treadmill may use a single, integral belt. Methods of gait training and/or therapy may involve such treadmills without excessive expense and without excessive modification of standard treadmill equipment.

A pneumatic circulatory enhancer to enhance a blood flow of a leg of a patient that includes a chamber that surrounds the leg and is filled with gas having a negative, a zero-point, or a pressure, a pneumatic gas pump having a cylinder and a piston, the piston moving in the cylinder by an electrical motor, a plurality of ECG electrodes that are connected to body parts of the patient, a pressure sensor that is connected to the chamber and measures a pressure of the gas inside the chamber, a controller that receives the ECG signals from the plurality of ECG electrodes and controls the electrical motor based on the received ECG signals to pump-in or pump-out the gas from the chamber by moving the piston inside the chamber such that the zero-point pressure is an atmospheric pressure of a location that the pneumatic circulatory enhancer is operated.

The device to monitor distance between people measures a pre-defined distance between a first person and other persons, and alerts the user when the pre-defined distance has been breached or violated for more than a pre-determined time. Intended to protect a first human from the deleterious effects of radiation (nuclear) associated with a second human, but useful in other circumstances, the device is designed to detect the presence of a first person within a protective radius of one to two meters of a second person by pairing the combination of one heat sensor with one distance sensor. In the event the first person is within that radius for the predetermined time, the device will alert the user of that circumstance. Alert feedback mechanisms can include an acoustic audible signal, a visible signal, a vibratory signal, or phone notification.
