A target object tracking system () includes a processor () for receiving image data (S) captured by one or more sensor () disposed on the vehicle (). The processor () is configured to analyse the image data to identify image components (IMC(n)) and to determine a movement vector (V(n)) of each image component (IMC(n)). The movement vectors each include a magnitude and a direction. At least one of the image components (IMC(n)) is classified as a target image component relating to the target object and at least one of the remaining image components (IMC(n)) as a non-target image component. The movement vector (V(n)) of the at least one target image component is modified in dependence on the movement vector of the or each non-target image component. The target object () is tracked in dependence on the modified movement vector of the at least one target image component. The disclosure also relates to a method and a non-transitory computer-readable medium.

Methods and apparatus for acquisition and tracking, object classification and terrain inference

A control system () for controlling operation of a host vehicle (). The control system () includes a controller () having a processor () and a memory (). The processor () is operable to receive a signal (S) from a sensor () and to process the signal (S) to identify a target vehicle (). Vehicle control method and apparatus

Apparatus for controlling movement of a vehicle, a system and vehicle comprising the apparatus, and a method for controlling the movement of a vehicle are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a controller configured to receive first signals from a receiving means in dependence on received transmitted signals from a remote control device indicating a requested motion of a vehicle and to receive second signals indicative of a value of traction of the vehicle. A maximum speed value for the vehicle is determined in dependence on the value of traction of the vehicle and/or on one or both of the detected pitch and roll angles of the vehicle. The controller provides an output signal for controlling speed of the vehicle based on the requested motion. The output signal is limited dependent upon the maximum speed value determined by the controller.

Controlling movement of a vehicle

Apparatus () for controlling movement of a vehicle (), a system () and vehicle() comprising the apparatus (), and a method () for controlling the movement of a vehicle () are disclosed. A motor vehicle control system that includes a first user-operable transmission selector for selecting a transmission operating mode and a user-operable gear selector, such as paddle input controls. The gear selector is operable in a first functional mode to select between a plurality of forward direction gear ratios. The gear selector is also operable in a second functional mode to select between a forward direction and reverse direction. This allows a user to use the gear selector to control travel in forward and reverse directions.

Vehicle control system and method

Embodiments of the present invention provide a vehicle speed control system operable to cause a vehicle to operate in accordance with a target speed value, the system being operable automatically to perform a direction change operation wherein the system causes a transmission of the vehicle to adopt a configuration corresponding to travel in an opposite direction to the instant configuration when the vehicle speed does not exceed a prescribed transmission direction change speed.
