An aqueous disinfecting solution, a concentrated version of the solution, and a dry powdered composition which may be dissolved in water to provide the solution. The solution has a pH of from 0.6 to 7 and comprises (a) hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of from 0.01 to 6% w/w; and (b) at least one component chosen from cyclic carboxylic acids and aromatic alcohols, in a concentration of from 0.01 to 10% w/w, all based on the total weight of the solution. The cyclic carboxylic acids are preferably 2-furan carboxylic acid, benzoic acid and salicylic acid and the aromatic alcohol is preferably benzyl alcohol. Furthermore, the solution may contain surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, hydrotropes, cation sequestering agents, hydrogen peroxide stabilizers, solvents, thickeners, skin conditioning agents, antifoams, and pH buffers.

Hydrogen peroxide disinfectant containing a cyclic carboxylic acid and/or aromatic alcohol

An aqueous skin disinfecting solution has a pH of from about 2 to about 6, and consists of at least (a) hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of from about 0.01 to about 4% w/w; (b) at least one surfactant chosen from alkyl betaines, alkyl amidopropyl betaines, alkyl amidopropyl betaine amides, alkylsulfobetaines, alkyl amphocarboxylates and amine oxides in a concentration of from about 0.01 to about 15% w/w; (c) at least one hydrogen peroxide stabilizer in a concentration of from about 0.01 to about 4% w/w; (d) at least one member chosen from cyclic carboxylic acids and salts thereof in a concentration of from about 0.01 to about 4% w/w; (e) at least one skin conditioning agent in a concentration of from about 0.01 to about 10% w/w; and (f) an effective amount of at least one solvent. The invention can be provided in concentrated or dried powdered form.

Hydrogen peroxide-based skin disinfectant

An aqueous disinfecting solution having a pH of from about 0.5 to about 6 consists essentially of hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of from about 0.05 to about 8 w/w % of the total solution, at least one anionic surfactant in a concentration of from about 0.02 to about 8 w/w % of the total solution, and at least one additional ingredient chosen from benzyl alcohol, an alcohol comprising one to six carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof, in a concentration of from about 0.1 to about 10 w/w % of the total solution.

Enhanced activity hydrogen peroxide disinfectant

An environmentally- and user-friendly, aqueous antimicrobial solution comprising effective amounts of hydrogen peroxide, glycolic acid, and at least one antimicrobially-active solvent chosen from benzyl alcohol and phenoxyethanol; concentrated versions of same; kits that can be used to make same; wipes containing same; and the use of same in a method of antimicrobial treatment of a surface contaminated with a microorganism (e.g. bacterial or fungal spore such as).

Antimicrobial compositions

A skin disinfectant in ready-to-use concentrated liquid or dry powdered form. Ready-to-use liquid forms have a pH of from about 2 to about 6 and include:

An aqueous disinfecting solution having a pH from about 0.5 to about 6 and consisting essentially of hydrogen peroxide in a concentration from about 0.05 to about 8 w/w % of the total solution; at least one anionic surfactant in a concentration from about 0.02 to about 8 w/w % of the total solution, selected from sulfonated C12 to C22 carboxylic acids and alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium salts thereof; naphthalene sulfonic acids and alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium salts thereof; C8 to C22 alkyl sulfonic acids and alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium salts thereof; and alkyl or alkenyl esters or diesters of sulfosuccinic acids in which the alkyl or alkenyl groups independently contain from six to eighteen carbon atoms and alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium salts thereof; and benzyl alcohol in a concentration from about 0.1 to about 10 w/w % of the solution.

A concentrated and one phase cleaning and disinfecting solution containing a sparingly soluble cyclic carboxylic acid. The solution has a pH of from about 0.05 to about 2, and comprises, consists essentially of, or consists of from about 2% w/w to about 8% w/w hydrogen peroxide; from about 5% w/w to about 20% w/w linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid; from about 0.5% w/w to about 8% w/w of at least one sparingly soluble (i.e. a solubility in pure water at room temperature of less than 1% w/w) cyclic carboxylic acid, wherein the cyclic carboxylic acid is present in acid and salt form in a ratio of at least 9:1 (acid:salt); from about 2% w/w to about 10% w/w of at least one block copolymer surfactant (e.g. PLURONIC L62); and from about 4% w/w to about 15% w/w of at least one solvent.

Concentrated hydrogen peroxide disinfecting solutions

An enhanced activity aqueous disinfecting solution having a pH of from about 0.5 to about 6 and consisting essentially of (i) hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of from about 0.05 to about 8 w/w % of the solution; (ii) at least one anionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of C8 to C16 alkyl aryl sulfonic acids and alkali metal, ammonium, ethanolamine, calcium and magnesium salts thereof, sulfonated C12 to C22 carboxylic acids and alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium salts thereof, C6 to C22 alkyl diphenyl oxide sulfonic acids and alkali metal, ammonium, ethanolamine, calcium and magnesium salts thereof, naphthalene sulfonic acids and alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium salts thereof, C8 to C22 alkyl sulfonic acids and alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium salts thereof, alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium C8 to C18 alkyl sulfates, alkyl or alkenyl esters or diesters of sulfosuccinic acid in which the alkyl or alkenyl groups independently contain from six to eighteen carbon atoms and alkali metal, ammonium, calcium and magnesium salts thereof, and mixtures thereof, in a concentration range of from about 0.02 to about 8 w/w % of the solution. Optionally, the solution may contain (iii) at least one additional ingredient chosen from a monocarboxylic acid, a polycarboxylic acid, and mixtures thereof, in a concentration of from about 0.05 to about 4 w/w % of the solution; and (iv) at least one further additional ingredient chosen from benzyl alcohol, an alcohol comprising one to six carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof, in a concentration of from about 0.1 to about 10 w/w % of the solution.

A novel method for cleaning dental and medical instruments is disclosed, in which a cleaning solution including a low-residue corrosion inhibitor is used not only in a wash stage of the cleaning cycle, but also in at least one subsequent rinse cycle, to optimize both cleaning and rust prevention. A novel cleaning solution particularly suited to this method has a neutral to alkaline pH and comprises in aqueous solution a low-foaming surfactant and a corrosion inhibitor selected from the group of C4-C16 alkyl pyrrolidones and C1-C18 alkylamines.

Method of cleaning dental and medical instruments using anti corrosion detergent compositions

An aqueous disinfecting solution and dry powdered composition which may be dissolved in water to provide the solution. The solution has a pH of from 0.6 to 7 and comprises (a) hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of from 0.01 to 6% w/w; and (b) at least one component chosen from cyclic carboxylic acids and aromatic alcohols, in a concentration of from 0.01 to 4 w/w %, all based on the total weight of the solution. The cyclic carboxylic acids are preferably 2-furan carboxylic acid, benzoic acid and salicylic acid. Furthermore, the solution preferably contains at least one C6-C12 alkyl diphenyl oxide sulfonate surfactant and a nonionic surfactant. Additional optional ingredients include anionic surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, cation sequestering agents, and buffers.
