A method for seamless connectivity including automatically detecting, by one of an image capture device and an accessory device, of a wired connection between the image capture device and the accessory device via an interface cable, automatically initiating, by the one of the image capture device and the accessory device, processing associated with a communication protocol supported by the image capture device and the accessory device, and automatically connecting the image capture device to the accessory device via the communication protocol when the processing is complete.

An image capture device may capture visual content based on a time-lapse video frame rate. Audio content may be captured along with the visual content based on the time-lapse video frame rate being a target time-lapse video frame rate. Capture of the audio content may be stopped based on the time-lapse video frame rate being different from the target time-lapse video frame rate.

A system with an integrated internal battery, a removable battery, and a power management integrated circuit. The power management integrated circuit is configured to provide power to the image capture device from the removable battery; provide power to the image capture device from the integrated internal battery when the removable battery is disconnected from the image capture device or the removable battery does not have a sufficient charge to drive the image capture device; and recharge the integrated internal battery before the removable battery until the integrated internal battery has a sufficient charge to power the image capture device. Methods and systems for detecting and monitoring memory card performance characteristics. A method for detecting memory card performance characteristics includes obtaining at least one memory card performance characteristic from a memory card when the memory card is inserted in an image capture device, determining whether the at least one memory card performance characteristic meets a defined image capture device requirement, and providing an alert when the at least one memory card performance characteristic fails to match the defined image capture device requirement.

Systems and methods are disclosed for field of view adjustment for image capture devices. For example, methods may include receiving a field of view selection; oversampling, using an image sensor, to obtain an image at a capture resolution that is greater than an encode resolution; determining a crop setting based on the field of view selection; cropping the image using the crop setting to obtain a cropped image; down-scaling the cropped image to obtain a scaled image at the encode resolution; encoding the scaled image at the encode resolution; and storing, displaying, or transmitting an output image based on the scaled image.

Field of view adjustment

A method and system for continuously supplying power to an image capture device during an image capture session are disclosed. The image capture device includes an integrated internal battery located internal to the image capture device and a removable battery connected to the image capture device. Power is provided to the image capture device from the removable battery. When the removable battery is disconnected from the image capture device, power is provided to the image capture device from the integrated internal battery. When a new removable battery is connected to the image capture device, power is provided to the image capture device from the new removable battery. Power is continuously supplied to the image capture device from the integrated internal battery while the removable battery is disconnected and replaced with the new removable battery.

Multiple cameras within a vehicle, such as placed at multiple locations inside and/or outside a bus or semi-truck and trailer, may be chained together to provide a consolidated video stream that may be recorded and/or transmitted wirelessly to a cloud storage device. Rather that each of the cameras independently recording and/or streaming video content, each camera may be configured to deserialize an input video to identify video streams from separate cameras (e.g., such as based on associate virtual channel identifiers) and reserialize its own video stream with the other video streams in the received input. The serialized video stream is then transmitted to a next camera in the daisy chain and/or a video storage device.

Image capture devices and methods may be used to pre-buffer media storage. The pre-buffering method includes recording an image capture segment in a circular buffer. The circular buffer includes a number of recordable segments. The pre-buffering method includes determining whether a key moment command is received. If a key moment command is not received, the method includes recording a next image capture segment in a next adjacent recordable segment of the circular buffer if the next adjacent recordable segment of the predetermined number of recordable segments is available. If a key moment command is not received, the method includes overwriting an oldest recordable segment if the next adjacent recordable segment of the predetermined number of recordable segments is not available. If a key moment command is received, the pre-buffering method includes marking a wrap point in the circular buffer and switching from recording in the circular buffer to linear recording.

A method and apparatus for night lapse video capture are disclosed. The apparatus includes an image sensor, a processor, a denoiser, and an encoder. The image sensor is configured to capture image data. The image data includes a first image that is temporally precedent to a second image. The processor is configured to process the image using an image processing pipeline. The denoiser is configured to perform denoising based on a motion estimation that is based on a comparison of a portion of the first image and a portion of the second image. The encoder is configured to encode the denoised image in a video format. The encoder is configured to output a video file in the video format.

Method and apparatus for in-camera night lapse video

A device includes a processor that is configured to detect that a first image is captured by the device; configure the device to capture images in a first resolution after detecting that the first image was captured; start a timer; restart the timer when a second image is captured before the timer expires; detect an event indicative of a second resolution that is lower than the first resolution; and configure the device to capture images in the second resolution after detecting the event indicative of the second resolution.

Reducing power consumption for enhanced zero shutter lag

A video gateway device at a worksite (or other location) is coupled to multiple cameras on a network, such as multiple cameras at a business site. The gateway device determines video stream capabilities of each camera and, based on the capabilities, determines whether any additional video steams need to be created for particular cameras. For example, for cameras that provide only a high-resolution video stream, the gateway will generate (e.g., via downsampling) a standard-resolution video stream for artificial intelligence ('AI') analysis and a low-resolution video stream for viewing by a user. However, for cameras that provide both a high and standard-resolution video stream, the gateway device uses the camera-provided standard-resolution video stream for AI analysis, rather than generating a new video stream on the gateway device.

A method, system, and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for temporal information synchronization of imaging devices are disclosed. The method comprises capturing media using an imaging device, generating a sequence identifier for each of the media, generating a timestamp for each of the media, determining that at least one of the media includes an unknown time tag, receiving an input including temporal information, determining a time offset between each timestamp and the temporal information, and updating the timestamp for each of the media that includes an unknown time tag using the time offset to provide an updated timestamp.

An image capture device includes a processor that is configured to set the image capture device to a zero-shutter-lag (ZSL) mode in response to a capture of a first image; start a timer; restart the timer when a second image is captured while the timer is active; and, in response to detecting an event indicating that no image was captured before the timer expired, set the image capture device to the non-ZSL mode. The processor is configured to set the image capture device to a non-ZSL mode when the timer expires.
