Methods are disclosed for communication devices capable of simultaneous transmission and reception, wherein a first method is for reception of a packet comprising a header and a payload and a second method is for transmission of a packet comprising a header and a payload. The second method comprises transmitting at least a part of the header. The first method comprises receiving at least a part of the header, attempting to decode the part of the header, and (when the part of the header is successfully decoded) transmitting a header acknowledgement signal. The second method comprises monitoring receipt of a header acknowledgement signal, and (when absence of the header acknowledgement signal is detected) interrupting the transmission of the packet and scheduling the packet for retransmission. Corresponding apparatuses, transceivers, communication devices and computer program products are also disclosed.

Acknowledgement for simultaneous transmission and reception

One aspect of the disclosure provides a method performed by a transmitting device, for transmitting wirelessly to a receiving device in a wireless network. The method comprises: obtaining information which is indicative of a level of wireless activity caused by interfering transmissions by one or more interfering devices, experienced by one or more receiving devices on one or more first channels configured for transmissions by the one or more receiving devices; and determining whether to transmit to a receiving device of the one or more receiving devices using one or more second channels based on the information indicative of the level of wireless activity experienced by the one or more receiving devices on the one or more first channels.

Methods, apparatus and device-readable mediums for scheduling transmissions in a wireless network

A communications device and a method therein for accessing a Resource Unit (RU) are provided. The communications device and an Access Point (AP) are operating in a wireless communications network. When wanting to start an access attempt within a time interval, the communications device selects a counter value from a first range given by zero and a first Contention-Window OFDMA (CWO) value CWO. Further, when wanting to start an access attempt outside the time interval, the communications device selects the counter value from a second range given by zero and a second CWO value CWO, wherein the second CWO value CWOis larger than the first CWO value CWO. The communications device performs a contention procedure using the selected counter value, wherein a Resource Unit (RU) is accessed in dependence of the performed contention procedure.

Communications device, an access point and methods therein for accessing a resource unit

A first radio device receives a first radio transmission from a second radio device. In response to reception of the first radio transmission by the first radio device being unsuccessful, the first radio device sends a second radio transmission to the second radio device. The second radio transmission comprises an indication to the second radio device that reception of the first radio transmission by the first radio device was unsuccessful. The first radio device generates the second radio transmission to be decodable by one or more other radio devices than the second radio device as comprising a positive acknowledgement message, indicating to the second radio device that reception of the first radio transmission by the first radio device was successful, as comprising a clear-to-send message to the second radio device, or as some other legacy message supported by the other radio device(s).

Reception failure indication by legacy message

Disclosed is a network node and a method performed by a network node of a wireless communication network for wireless transmission of signals to wireless communication devices. The method comprises selecting adapted modulation and coding scheme, MCS, for a first signal to be transmitted to a first wireless communication device at first frequency bandwidth, the MCS being adapted to that second signal is to be transmitted to a second wireless communication device concurrently with the first signal, the second signal being transmitted at second frequency bandwidth that is subset of the first frequency bandwidth, the second frequency bandwidth being narrower than the first frequency bandwidth. The method comprises transmitting first signal to the first wireless communication device at first frequency bandwidth coded with adapted MCS, and transmitting the second signal to the second wireless communication device at second frequency bandwidth, the second signal being sent concurrently with the first signal.

Methods, network node and wireless communication device for handling of signals in a wireless communication network

There is provided a method for resource allocation for downlink transmission to at least two wireless communication devices in a wireless communication network. Simultaneous transmission to the wireless communication devices is allowed on one or more channels with at least two supported modulation alphabets of different sizes, each channel being defined by a set, called resource unit, of one or more subcarriers. The method comprises obtaining (S), for each of the wireless communication devices, channel feedback information for each modulation alphabet the wireless communication device supports and for each resource unit on which the wireless communication device is allowed to receive a transmission. The method also comprises selecting (S), from a number of possible assignments of the wireless communication devices to different resource units and different modulation alphabets, a resource allocation based on the channel feedback information including an assignment of the wireless communication devices to at least one resource unit and at least one modulation alphabet among those assignments providing the highest total downlink throughput for the wireless communication devices.

Resource allocation for downlink transmission to at least two wireless communication devices

A method of an access point is disclosed. The access point is adapted to communicate (using a frequency bandwidth comprising one or more sub-bands) with wireless communication devices associated with the access point. Each of the wireless communication devices is adapted to operate under at least one of first and second latency requirements, wherein the first latency requirement is lower than the second latency requirement. Each of the wireless communication devices is also adapted to use a listen-before-talk approach (e.g. carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance&#x2014;CSMA/CA) to access a sub-band for transmission. The method comprises (for each of the sub-bands) allowing at most one wireless communication device operating under the first latency requirement to attempt accessing the sub-band and (for each sub-band where a wireless communication device operating under the first latency requirement is allowed to attempt accessing the sub-band) allowing also one or more wireless communication device operating under the second latency requirement to attempt accessing the sub-band. The method also comprises enforcing a maximum duration of time for each transmission of a wireless communication device operating under the second latency requirement using a sub-band where a wireless communication device operating under the first latency requirement is allowed to attempt accessing the sub-band, wherein the maximum duration of time is based on the first latency requirement. Corresponding method for a wireless communication device, arrangements, access point, wireless communication device and computer program products are also disclosed.

Coexistence of users with different latency requirements

An access point device comprising a transceiver configured to receive and send messages on a communication channel, and a controller configured to cause the transceiver to transmit beacon messages regularly on the communication channel is disclosed. The beacon messages include a first indication that data, for one or more stations arranged to communicate with the access point device over the communication channel, is buffered in a buffer associated with the access point device when data is buffered in the buffer. The transceiver is arranged to transmit at least one utility message, transmitted over the communication channel between transmissions of the beacon messages, wherein the at least one utility message comprises a second indication for at least one of the one or more stations as to whether an upcoming beacon message comprises the first indication that data for the at least one of the one or more stations is buffered in the buffer. The station is arranged to communicate over the communication channel with the access point device, and arranged to apply a power save mode including a Doze state and an Awake state, wherein, when the station is in the Doze state, the station occasionally enters the Awake state for determining whether data for the station is buffered in the buffer and then re-enters the Doze state if no data for the station is indicated to be buffered in the buffer. The station is arranged to perform the re-entering to the Doze state at the first found one of the first indication and the second indication that indicates that no data for the station is buffered in the buffer. Methods and computer programs for the station and the access point device are also disclosed.

Access point notification of wireless stations about availability of data

A method of a wireless terminal configured to operate in a wireless network using at least one wideband channel is disclosed. The wireless terminal is configured to operate in a narrowband within the wideband channel. The network comprises at least one other wireless terminal configured to operate in the entire wideband channel, and at least one access point (AP). The AP is configured to support transmission and reception over the entire wideband channel, wherein the wideband channel is dividable into a plurality of resource units. The method comprises receiving a trigger from the AP, wherein the trigger comprises an indication of a first resource unit and a second resource unit of the plurality of resource units on which the AP will transmit data intended to the wireless terminal using a dual carrier modulation (DCM) transmission and measuring a signal quality of the first and second resource units by measuring, in a frequency of the wideband channel which corresponds to the first and second resource unit, a reception quality of data transmitted from the AP to the at least one other wireless terminal. The method also comprises determining which of the first and second resource units has a highest signal quality based on the measured signal quality and receiving the DCM-transmission on the resource unit determined to have the highest signal quality. Also disclosed is an arrangement of a wireless terminal and an access point, a method of an access point, an access point, a wireless terminal and a computer program product.

Dual carrier modulation with single carrier reception
