Provided are a composition for forming a coating film, a coating film and a substrate having the coating film, which have excellent compatibility with biological substances, as well as a method for producing the same. The invention provides a method for producing a polymer used as a base film for cell culture which comprises (i) preparing a mixture containing (a) a monomer of formula (I): wherein Uand Ueach independently represent a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and Rrepresents a linear or branched alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, (b) a radical polymerization initiator, and (c) an organic solvent, and (ii) preparing a polymer by raising a temperature of the mixture under stirring to polymerize the monomer. The invention also provides methods of producing a base film for cell culture and a cell culture container.

The invention relates to a cell culture container that inhibits adhesion of cells, a method for manufacturing the same and a method for producing cell aggregates using the same. The cell culture container has a coating film containing a copolymer having a recurring unit which contains a group represented by formula (a) and a recurring unit which contains a group represented by formula (b): wherein U, U, U, Uand Ueach independently represent a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and Anrepresents an anion selected from the group consisting of a halide ion, an inorganic acid ion, a hydroxide ion and an isothiocyanate ion, on at least a part of a surface of the container, and the volume of the container is 20 μL or less.

Cell culture container having minute volume

The invention provides a medium additive, medium composition and a culture method and the like, capable of efficiently culturing cells or tissues in a well dispersed state, and further, permitting cell image analysis of the cells or tissues. The medium additive or medium composition contains agar, which preferably is a low molecular weight agar having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000-60,000. Using same, cells or tissues can be cultured in a well-dispersed state in a medium, and a proliferation promoting effect for the cells or tissues can also be obtained. In addition, the cells can be cultured in any of a floating state and a precipitated state by adjusting the concentration of the aforementioned agar.

The invention provides a coating agent for a flow passage which comprises a copolymer containing a recurring unit which contains an organic group of the formula (a) wherein Uand Uare defined herein, and a recurring unit which contains an organic group of the formula (b) wherein U, U, U, and Anare defined herein.
