Cable management systems with integrated low voltage lighting

A networking enclosure with removable and interchangeable sides includes a housing with an internal cavity for receipt of electrical devices and first, second, and third openings. The enclosure also includes first, second, and third sets of panels corresponding to each of the openings. The first set of panels includes at least two panels with different configurations and being selectively engageable with the housing to substantially close the first opening. The second set of panels includes at least two panels with different configurations and being selectively engageable with the housing to substantially close the second opening. Similarly, the third set of panels includes at least two panels having different configurations and being selectively engageably with the housing to substantially close the third opening. The panels can be solid or include apertures such as knockouts, louvers, or a combination thereof.

An electrical box extender assembly includes an electrical box having four side walls, and a back wall defining a cavity therein. A first of the four side walls of the box includes a first projection extending substantially transversely of the cavity. A substantially tubular extender having a first side wall including a first flange extending transversely thereon, and a tubular base extending transversely thereof. The first flange and tubular base are spaced from one another and a first fastener extends through the first projection, first flange and tubular base to couple the tubular extender to the electrical box.

A recessed box is adapted for mounting one or more electrical devices having an adapter. To accommodate electrical devices of different sizes, the adapter is provided that is coupled to the opening in the recessed box. The adapter has a frame with a central opening to receive the selected electrical device. The frame has one or more removable tabs to enlarge the dimension of the central opening to accommodate larger electrical devices. An electrical device, such as a low voltage wiring device, is coupled to the removable tabs. The tabs are removed to receive a larger electrical device, such as an electrical junction box, that is coupled to the frame.

Multi-purpose electrical outlet

A channel for managing equipment cables that includes opposing first and second members and a third member extending between and connecting the first and second members. Each of the first and second members includes first and second inner and outer surfaces. At least one cable receiving area is defined between the first and second inner surfaces of the first and second members. First and second equipment mounting elements extend from each of the first and second outer surfaces of the first and second members. The first and second equipment mounting elements are connectable to equipment. A base support is coupled to at least one of the first and second members.

Column network hardware management system

An electrical assembly comprising an electrical box and a single gang electrical outlet having both a power connector and at least one communications connector and being supported in the box. The electrical outlet is receivable in the box, which has a barrier to isolate the power and communications connectors, but is not receivable in a standard box, which would not have the required barrier, due to the spacing and locations of the mounting fasteners and protrusions extending downwardly near the ends of the outlet. In addition to the electrical outlet with the power and communications connectors, the electrical box can receive a standard single gang outlet therein upon removal of the barrier.

A connector for a communications system provides desired levels of crosstalk by controlling the positions and lengths of the wires. A plurality of insulation displacement contacts are movable between retracted positions and inserted positions extending into an internal chamber of the connector. A first insert disposed in the internal chamber has a front end proximal the front end of the plug housing. A second insert is partially disposed in the internal chamber and has a front end proximal the first insert rear end. Four pairs of wires extend from a cable sheath. Each pair of wires pass through one of the first, second, third and fourth channels of the second insert and through the first passageway of the first insert to the insulation displacement contacts in the internal chamber.

Communication connector to optimize crosstalk

A connector for a communications system provides desired levels of crosstalk by controlling the positions and lengths of the wires. A plurality of insulation displacement contacts are mounted in slots in the plug housing for movement between retracted positions and inserted positions extending into the internal chamber. A first insert is disposed in the internal chamber. A second insert is partially disposed in the internal chamber and has a front end proximal the first insert rear end. The second insert has first, second, third and fourth channels extending from the rear end to the front end of the second insert. Four pairs of wires extend from a cable sheath and pass through one of the first, second, third and fourth channels of the second insert and through a first passageway in the first insert to the insulation displacement contacts in an internal chamber of the connector.

A connector for a communications system provides desired levels of crosstalk by controlling the positions and lengths of the wires. The connector has an internal chamber opening on the rear end of the plug housing and defined by housing walls. A plurality of slots extend through one of the housing walls adjacent its front end and into the internal chamber. A plurality of insulation displacement contacts are mounted in the slots for movement between retracted positions and inserted positions extending into the internal chamber. A first insert is disposed in the internal chamber. The first insert has a front end proximal the front end of the plug housing. A first passageway extends from the front end of the first insert to the rear end of the first insert. A plurality of openings in a first insert wall adjacent the front end are aligned with the plurality of slots in the plug housing and extend into the first passageway. A second insert is partially disposed in the internal chamber and has a front end proximal the first insert rear end. The second insert has first, second, third and fourth channels extending from the rear end to the front end of the second insert. Four pairs of wires extend from a cable sheath. Each pair of wires pass through one of the first, second, third and fourth channels of the second insert and through the first passageway to the insulation displacement contacts in the internal chamber.

A patch panel assembly having a bracket with a base extending between first and second side walls. The bracket defines a cable receiving passageway. First and second patch panels are coupled to the first and second side walls for pivotal movement about first and second vertical pivot axes between open and closed positions. The patch panels are selectively engageable with one another in their closed positions for limiting access across the cable receiving passageway.

An adapter for a data transmission or communication system, has a body with a longitudinal axis. Longitudinal ends of the body define coaxial openings. One plug is receivable in one opening. Another plug is receivable in the other opening in at least two positions angularly offset relative to one another about the longitudinal axis of the body. Placement of the other plug in the different positions results in a polarity reversal of the system.
