A system and method scan a document printed by a first document processing device (using a second document processing device separate from the first document processing device). The document has printed thereon machine readable markings that comprise information of a patient, information of at least one lab test to be performed, and formatting information for the return of the lab test results. The second document processing device identifies the lab test to be performed on the patient based on the machine readable markings. After the lab tests have been performed on the patient, the second document processing device prepares the lab test results by formatting them. These formatted lab test results are then output from the second document processing device to the first document processing device.

Device and method for delivering medical lab reports

A method of scanning a set of documents in a container such as a file folder or storage box where the container contains a unique label containing identification associated with the documents in the container. The label comprises both alphanumeric characters and color information where each character is associated with a particular color. By scanning the container and analyzing the image of the container the unique identification can be retrieved with increased reliability by using both the color and alphanumeric information.

Method for automatic conversion of paper records to digital form

Methods and systems begin when a printing device receives a print job. The methods and systems identify a document type within the print job using a processor of the printing device. The methods and systems also determine if the document type requires an audible alarm using the processor. The methods and systems print the print job using a printing engine of the printing device. If the document type requires the audible alarm, the methods and systems produce an audible alarm using a speaker of the printing device after the printing is complete.

Printer with audible signal

A method and system include a computerized device operatively connected to a multi-function printing device. The multi-function printing device has a scanner, a media path, a printer, etc. The scanner scans a plurality of sheets of media to produce scanned images. The computerized device automatically stores the scanned images, and the media path automatically feeds the sheets of media from the scanner to the printer after the scanner scans the sheets of media. The printer automatically prints unique identification markings on the sheets of media after the scanner scans the sheets of media, such that each of the sheets of media has a different identification marking printed thereon by the printer. The computerized device automatically adds data representing each unique identification marking to each corresponding scanned image stored within the computerized device. When error images (e.g., ones of the sheets of media that were not scanned properly by the scanner) are identified, the computerized device automatically outputs the data representing each the unique identification marking for each of the error images, allowing a user to locate the sheet of media associated with the error image, to permit the improperly scanned sheets to be rescanned.

Delayed review of scanned documents using unique identification marking on scanned documents

A system for generating a prescription may include a capture module configured to capture information from a plurality of individual cards. At least one of the cards may include medical information including at least a medication and a dosage for a patient. The system may include an information processing module configured to generate a bitmap file associated with the captured information, extract at least a portion of the medical information from the bitmap file using optical character recognition, and assemble the extracted information to generate a prescription data file. The system may include a transmission module configured to transmit the prescription data file to a pharmacy.

System and method for processing a prescription

Meeting documents are provided to N meeting participants of a meeting. Each meeting document comprises a human-readable content marking related to the subject of the meeting and a storage address marking. At the meeting, the meeting participants supply comment markings to the meeting documents, thus forming commented meeting documents. The commented meeting documents are then scanned to form commented meeting document images. The commented meeting document images are then stored in a repository based on the storage address marking. One or more users are then provided with visual access to the commented meeting documents images, thus enabling the one or more users to view the comment markings that are supplied by the meeting participants.

Method of providing visual access to comment markings

A method/apparatus receives a user selection of a predetermined standard for scanning sheets of media through a user interface and optically detects marks on the sheets of media using a scanning device to produce electronic images of the sheets of media. The method/apparatus automatically determines if the electronic images comply with the predetermined standard using a processor to classify the electronic images as acceptable electronic images or non-acceptable electronic images. Then, first sheets of media corresponding to the acceptable electronic images are directed into a first sheet storage device and second sheets of media corresponding to the non-acceptable electronic images are directed into a second sheet storage device.

Automatic recognition of document scan error

A method and system including a scanning subsystem for scanning a plurality of documents with a plurality of corresponding images is presented. The system further includes an image generation subsystem for automatically generating (1) a plurality of thumbnail images corresponding to the plurality of documents scanned with the scanner, and (2) a mark sense area corresponding to each one of the plurality of thumbnail images. A printing subsystem is included for producing at least one print including the plurality of thumbnail images and a plurality of mark sense areas. A thumbnail selection module is also included that causes at least one of the plurality of corresponding images to be replaced when both the at least one print with one or more marked mark sense areas and at least one of the plurality of documents are scanned with the scanning subsystem.

Printing system with improved scanning functionality

At least two printing devices receive a print job from a user that has printing data and printing specifications. Each of the printing devices calculates an ability score based on each printing device's ability to meet each of the printing specifications. The printing devices each output their ability score to the user. The printing devices then receive an indication as to which printing device is the selected print device, and instructions to print the print job are thus sent from the user to the selected print device. Then, the selected print device prints the print job on tangible media to produce a tangible output.

A notary processor can be dedicated to performing the security-based variable information printing. A method resolves the availability of resources required by a document template and a security map, replaces the data placeholders with dynamic data, replaces the data placeholders with the dynamic data to produce a complete, printer-ready secure document, sends the document directly to a user-specified, authorized output printing device capable of handling the security features, deletes the dynamic data and the document, and can notify the calling application of the sending of the document to the output device, all automatically and all using the dedicated notary processor.

A disclosed process accesses text data that is to be mined. The text data includes text snippets. Rules are encoded in a rule base. A search request is submitted to a search request handler. A search request handler applies the rules from the rule base to the text and associates different labels to respective text snippets in the text data in accordance with the rule base.

Text searching and categorization tools

After markings have been placed on a pre-printed form by a user who interacted with an entity, the form is scanned to produce a scan file. The scan file is analyzed to identify whether user added markings are present on machine readable selection items. The method can take a number of automated actions, depending upon which pre-printed machine readable selection items were checked by the user. For example, in response to checkbox selections, the method can obtain (read) some form of electronically storable data relating to the entity based on which of the machine readable selection items the user checked. Alternatively, in response to other checkbox selections, the method can ignore the user added markings on the machine readable selection items. In addition, in response to the checkmarks, the system can maintain only an image of the user added handwritten text. Alternatively, the system can be instructed to not only maintain an image of the user added handwritten text, but to automatically forward the image of the user added handwritten text to a transcription center.

Paper interface to an electronic record system

A method and server is provided for processing an electronic workflow for implementation by at least one machine. The method includes processing an electronic workflow having at least one machine readable job request; determining that human intervention is needed for processing one of the machine readable job requests; reformatting the machine readable job request into a human readable format; and providing the job request reformatted in a human readable format to an output device for outputting the job request reformatted in a human readable format as human readable output.

Method and server for processing an electronic workflow

A system generates an electronic image of a document for later retrieval through a network connection. The system uses a network accessible scanning device to enable scanning of a document to generate an electronic image thereof and an electronic repository to electronically store the electronic image. The electronic repository designates an electronic address for the stored electronic image and communicates the electronic address to the network accessible scanning device. The network accessible scanning device provides information to a user scanning the document. The information relates to the electronic repository designated address.
