A system of modular, detachable cushions having surfaces containing hook and/or loop fasteners that fasten to mating loop, open weave or hook surfaces to define adjustable, conformal contoured support surfaces at user contact surfaces and appliances producing fatigue and/or abrasion (e.g. automotive seats, chairs, compartment walls, desks, footwear, helmets, tools etc.). The cushions can include air, elastomer, fabric, fiber, foam, liquid, gel, and/or rubber cushioning materials or combinations thereof arranged in envelopes, pads, cavities or tiered assemblies. The cushions include surfaces fitted with one or more layers of cushioning materials or envelopes of cushioning material and one or more regions of fastener materials that mate with interconnecting fasteners at the contact surface or appliance. The cushions can be selectively arrayed about the contact surface or appliance and may be selectively combined and/or layered and/or overlapped onto each other at user specific locations to tailor the cushioning contour.

Modular hook and loop attachment cushions

Single and two-sided hand and finger thimbles constructed to mount over the fingertips to provide non-slip gripping surfaces and improved protection at the fingertips and palm. Several thimbles include surfaces that contain impenetrable shields, elastomer pads or raised patterns of a coated elastomer. The coated thimbles facilitate paper separation, sorting, and counting. Plastic or metallic shields can fitted to shield and/or encase the fingertip. The shield can be exposed through an aperture and can include a pitted surface. Pull-tabs and elastic sizing members facilitate fitting the thimbles to the fingers. Alternative wrist supported, glove-like assemblies having one or more finger pieces fitted with shielding and gripping assemblies and padded palm regions are also disclosed.

Hand and finger thimbles

A method for application registration and tracking for DOS and OS/2 software, independent of the mechanism in which the application is distributed and installed. The invention allows other application registration and tracking techniques to co-exist without affecting/impacting each other. This truly is an 'open' packaging, registration and tracking invention which allows PC-software to be better managed in a network.

PC product registration and tracking

A rigid support mounted to protect the site of a connection to a catheter or other in-dwelling treatment assembly. In a forearm cast assembly for a dialysis catheter, a hinged frame is retained to the arm with adjustable elastic strap anchors at the elbow and hand. Top and bottom perforated frame sections are held together with hook and loop hinges and closure fasteners. A variety of detachable, cushioned liners mount to the interior frame surfaces to prevent abrasion or dislodgment of the treatment assembly. The frames are constructed to permit limb movement within the cast with minimal impediment to limb movement about the body. Alternative single and double shell frames are also disclosed which include adjustable harness straps and adhesive retainers to accommodate a variety of mounting sites.

Catheter cast

A software management structure is disclosed. A software application package is made up of several linked replaceable units (RU). Each RU is serviceable without adversely effecting the other RUs. The RUs are linked together in a hierarchical fashion in a series of levels. In the preferred embodiment, five levels are used: Application Group level (AG), Loadable Code Group level (LCG), Primary Functional Group level (PFG), Secondary Functional Group level (SFG), and Operational Code Group level (OCG). The AG level defines a group of computer programs combined to perform a high level application tailor fit to meet the needs of the user. The LCG level defines individual programs each created to perform a general task. The PFG level refines the common programs defined in the LCG level to a more specific set of primary functions. The SFG level refines the primary functions defined in the PFG level to an even more specialized set of secondary functions tailored closely to fit a specific user's needs. The OCG level contains the operational code needed to run the specialized user application package defined by the preceding four levels.

Software packaging structure having hierarchical replaceable units

A seat assembly having flexure members and ventilation is disclosed. An elongated aperture is cut into a base plate of the seat assembly and flexure members are formed in a support plate of the assembly which is mounted to the base plate. The flexure members deform into the aperture thus providing a rider with additional comfort due to the flexibility of the seat. A venting hole is provided throughout the seat assembly to aid in rider comfort. A forced air ventilation system forces air to flow throughout the seat assembly, thus giving the rider ample ventilation.

Automated problem analysis and resolution of a customer data-processing system uses a central service data-processor system communicating with the customer system and having a data base for converting machine, software, and symptom data into instructions, hardware and software module lists, and service call schedules. The customer system detects data concerning its own configuration and problem symptoms for communication to the service system. The service system itself orders repair modules, and electronically communicates software fixes to the customer system.

Clothing items including at least one sewn-in liquid cushioned bladder conforming to one or more pressure points experiencing friction or repeated shocks. Distributed through vents and sealed islands define one or more endless channelways to facilitate moisture transfer and assure even liquid distribution with body movement. Associated vented, wicking coverings transfer perspiration away from the bladder and wearer. Preferred embodiments include pantswear, gloves and an improved bladder containing seat cushion.

Liquid-cushioned outerwear

A two-sided thimble including an elastic fitting member and a hand pull flap. A first envelope surface permits fine needle work and a second surface including a contained rigid protective member facilitates heavy duty needle work. In an alternative construction, each surface may accommodate either heavy or fine needlework.

Sewing thimble

A liquid-cushioned bicycle seat comprising a liquid impervious bladder divided into a saddle compartment and a pummel compartment which are hydrostatically isolated from one another so that differing hydrostatic pressures may be maintained in each respective compartment, the saddle compartment having first and second zones in fluid communication with each other; separate means for filling the saddle compartment and the pummel compartment with a cushioning liquid; and means for securing said bladder in support of engagement with the seat of a bicycle.
