A retrofit kit retrofits a buoy to provide dynamic control of a freeboard of the retrofitted buoy. The retrofit kit includes buoyancy chambers, an air reservoir, and a valve arrangement. A method for retrofitting a buoy retrofits a buoy to provide dynamic control of a freeboard of the retrofitted buoy. The buoyancy chambers surrounding a vertical axis of the buoy with a center of mass of the buoy disposed on the vertical axis below the buoyancy chambers. The buoyancy chambers provide a variable buoyancy ranging from a minimum buoyancy to a maximum buoyancy. The air reservoir inflates of the buoyancy chambers. The valve arrangement dynamically sets the freeboard of the buoy upon inflation and deflation of the buoyancy chambers for varying the variable buoyancy between the minimum buoyancy and the maximum buoyancy.

Retrofitting a buoy to provide dynamic control of a freeboard of the buoy

A mooring system comprising: a ballast platform; and a chain comprising a plurality of links that are pivotally connected to each other via parallel pivot pins such that the chain is configured to not rotate about a vertical axis that is orthogonal to axes of rotation of the pivot pins, wherein the chain has proximal and distal ends, and wherein the proximal end is attached to a top of the ballast platform and the distal end is configured to be attached to a buoyant object.

Twist resistant independent release mooring system

A device for capturing underwater vehicles. The device comprises a cap member connected to a first rib member and a first plate member connected to the first rib member. The device further comprises a bell member with a first bell hole formed therethrough. The first bell member also has a first bell slot formed therethrough. A damper and a shim are slidably received in the first bell slot. The first rib member is slidably received in the first bell hole.

Dampened capture mechanism

A bulkhead penetrator comprising a body having an interior and an exterior. An element having a first pressure is disposed within the body's interior in a first pressure region. An inner penetrator is configured to permit a transfer of the element from the body's interior past the physical boundary to the exterior of the body in a second pressure region having a second pressure, the inner penetrator having an interior surface exposed to the first pressure region and an exterior surface exposed to the second pressure region. An outer penetrator is configured to permit the transfer of the element from the interior of the body past the physical boundary to the exterior of the body in a third pressure region having a third pressure. An inner-outer connector connects the inner penetrator to the outer penetrator. Sealing mechanisms may prevent the transfer of the element from the first pressure region.

Bi-directional, rotating, pressure bulkhead penetrator

A magazine release assembly includes a first component. The first component includes at least one interlocking protrusion of an interlocking assembly and a button with a sloped surface. The first component is insertable into a first opening within a receiver frame of a handgun. The magazine release assembly includes an additional component. The additional component includes at least one interlocking recess of the interlocking assembly and a catch spring slot. The additional component is insertable into an additional opening with the receiver frame of the handgun. The at least one interlocking recess is configured to rotatably couple with the at least one interlocking protrusion within the receiver frame. The catch spring slot is configured to receive a catch spring following the rotatable coupling of the at least one interlocking recess and the at least one interlocking protrusion.

Magazine release

A remotely actuated fill and release device and deployment method can include a disc manifold having an upper surface, a lower surface and an outer circumferential surface. A fill passageway in the fill manifold can extend radially inward from the outer circumferential surface and can merge into a conical chamber, which can also be formed in disc manifold. The conical chamber can be formed with a maximum diameter proximate the upper surface and a minimum diameter proximate said lower surface. A release nose can be inserted into said conical chamber and fill bladder can be attached to the release nose. A FRANGIBOLT&#xae; can extend through the disc manifold and can be threaded into the release nose. A voltage can be selectively applied to the FRANGIBOLT&#xae;, which can fracture in response to the voltage, to selectively detach the release nose and fill bladder from the disc manifold without moving parts.

Remotely actuated mooring device

A locking system including a lock box and a locking bar. The locking bar configured as an elongated member which engages a loading hook of a roll-off container. The locking bar including at least one hole defined therethrough and configured to engage a hasp of a lock. The lock box has an opening defined therethrough and is configured to receive a first portion of the length of the locking handle so that when the locking handle is engaged with the hook a second portion of the length of the locking handle projects from the lock box. This second portion includes at least one of the aforementioned holes and functions to receive a locking hasp. An alternative locking system including a locking sleeve preventing engagement of a bar of a roll-off storage container.

Locking system for roll-off containers

A metering valve includes a valve body, a flow tube, an orifice plate, a central flow body, and a mover. The valve body has an inlet and an outlet. The flow tube is carried for axial movement in slidable and sealing engagement with the valve body at an inlet end and an outlet end. The orifice plate has an outlet. The central flow body is provided on an upstream end of the orifice plate and has an annular seal configured to seat into engagement with the outlet end of the flow tube when the flow tube is moved to a downstream position. The central flow body also includes a central, protruding flow diverter upstream and central of the annular seal. The mover is provided in the valve body and is configured to carry the flow tube for displacement of the output end toward and away from the central flow body.

Gas turbine metering valve

A turbine valve control system is provided. The turbine valve control system includes a variable flow metering device, a first sensor, a second sensor, a third sensor, a fourth sensor, memory, and processing circuitry. The variable flow metering device is capable of meeting a plurality of predetermined mass flow rates by varying positioning of the flow metering device. The processing circuitry is configured to receive the signals, determine whether the flow is subsonic or sonic, and implement a corresponding one of the first and second computer program codes to calculate a combined coefficient of discharge times area that will generate a desired mass flow rate for the flow metering device. A method is also provided.

Valve flow metering control system and method

A turbine valve control system is provided. The turbine valve control system includes a variable flow metering device, a first sensor, a second sensor, a third sensor, a fourth sensor, memory, and processing circuitry. The variable flow metering device is capable of meeting a plurality of predetermined mass flow rates by varying positioning of the flow metering device. The first sensor is configured for detecting variable positioning of the flow metering device and generating a first output signal that is a function of the positioning of the flow metering device. The second sensor is configured for detecting fluid pressure upstream of the flow metering device and generating a second output signal that is a function of the detected upstream fluid pressure. The third sensor is configured for detecting fluid pressure downstream of the flow metering device and generating a third output signal that is a function of the detected downstream fluid pressure. The fourth sensor is configured for detecting temperature upstream of the flow metering device and generating a fourth output signal that is a function of the detected temperature. The memory includes first computer program code for calculating a combined coefficient of discharge times area that gives a desired flow for a given valve position, upstream pressure, downstream pressure, and temperature for subsonic flow. The memory also includes second computer program code for calculating a combined coefficient of discharge times area that gives a desired flow for a given valve position, upstream pressure, and temperature for sonic flow. The processing circuitry is configured to receive the signals, determine whether the flow is subsonic or sonic, and implement a corresponding one of the first and second computer program codes to calculate a combined coefficient of discharge times area that will generate a desired mass flow rate for the flow metering device. A method is also provided.
