An endoscopic tissue fastening device may include a body having a first portion and a second portion arranged alongside the first portion. The second portion may extend distally of the first portion and may terminate in a distal end face of the body. The device may further include a tissue fastening assembly having a fastening head with a proximal end and a distal end. The fastening head may be deflectable at a location between the proximal end and the distal end of the fastening head. The tissue fastening assembly may be received within a lumen of the body. Further, the body may be moveable between an unarticulated configuration and an articulated configuration. In the articulated configuration, a central longitudinal axis of the second portion of the body may be substantially parallel with a central longitudinal axis of the tissue fastening assembly.

Various embodiments are generally directed to devices, systems, and methods for controlling the flow of fluids in endoscopic systems, such as endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) enabled endoscopes. The cleaning valves (or valves) of the current disclosure are generally single-use devices (SUDs) and therefore disposable. Reusing SUDs can be disadvantageous, as single-use devices are not designed to be reusable. Accordingly, valves for medical devices, such as endoscopes, disclosed may be configured to transition from a first state to a second state for indication of utilization of the valve, e.g., via exposure to a valve well. The transition from the first state to the second state may prevent reuse valves of the present disclosure. In embodiments, the valve may be made from a limited number of components and materials.

The articulation section is longitudinally interposed between a distal end of the shaft assembly and a proximal end of the end effector. A device for treating hemorrhoids includes a first ligating member which moves between a first position in which the first member is tightened to a degree required to maintain a desired position of the first member around the first portion without significantly cutting off blood flow and a second configuration in which the first member is cinched down around the first portion to substantially cut off blood flow to the encircled first portion. Also, the device includes a first applicator having a proximal lumen and first and second opposed distal lumens open to the proximal lumen. The first member is extending from a proximal end distally through the proximal lumen into the first lumen to exit a distal end of the first lumen, loop around and enter the distal end of the second lumen. The first member is passing through the second lumen into the proximal lumen.

An ultrasonic instrument includes a housing, an ultrasonic transducer support by the housing, and an integrated usage indicator. The housing is configured to removably connect to a shaft assembly. The ultrasonic transducer is configured to be acoustically connected to a waveguide and operated a predetermined number of use cycles. The integrated usage indicator is operatively connected to the housing and includes a used state indicator. The used state indicator is configured to indicate to a clinician in a used state when the ultrasonic transducer has been operated at least the predetermined number of use cycles for limiting usage of the ultrasonic transducer to the predetermined number of use cycles.

Devices, systems, and methods for fluid control in endoscope systems

A device includes a balloon configured for inflation with a light-diffusing fluid and configured, upon inflation, to expand a body lumen within which it is positioned and a flexible light-emitting device attached to the balloon having a light-emitting side facing radially inward toward the fluid so that, during a medical procedure, light emitted from the light-emitting side is diffused by the fluid and illuminates a treatment area within the body lumen proximal to the balloon.

A system for containing and transporting a medical device may include a container including a bottom face and surrounding side faces as a closed first end and an open second end to form an inner portion for receiving and retaining the medical device. At least a portion of one or more of the side faces may have an indentation extending along a length of the respective side face. A liner and cover may be removably enclosable about the container. The liner may be extendable over the side faces to line the inner portion of the container. The cover may enclose the medical device in the container between the liner and cover. The indentation may be formed into the inner portion of the container. The container may be compatibly receivable in a first transportation device in a first orientation.

According to one aspect, a fastening device may include a coupling body having (1) a portion configured to couple to a distal end of a medical device, (2) a cartridge holder, and (3) an anvil pivotably coupled to the cartridge holder. The cartridge holder and the anvil may extend distally from the portion and may be configured to extend distally of a distalmost face of the medical device when the portion is coupled to the distal end of the medical device. A flexible member may be configured to extend through a channel of the medical device. A fastener cartridge may be coupled to a distal end of the flexible member, including at least one fastener, and may be configured for releasable coupling to the cartridge holder.

A system for containing and transporting a medical device may include a container including a bottom face and surrounding side faces as a closed first end and an open second end to form an inner portion for receiving and retaining the medical device. At least a portion of one or more of the side faces may have an indentation extending along a length of the respective side face. A liner and cover may be removably enclosable about the container. The liner may be extendable over the side faces to line the inner portion of the container to an outer surface of the bottom face of the container. The cover may enclose the medical device in the container between the liner and cover. The indentation may be formed into the inner portion of the container. The container may be compatibly receivable in a first transportation device in a first orientation.

A surgical instrument includes an end effector, a handle assembly, and a firing assembly. The end effector includes a first jaw, a second jaw, a knife, and an electrode assembly. The second jaw pivot between an open position and a closed position. The handle assembly includes a housing associated with the first jaw and an arm associated with the second jaw. The arm can pivot the second jaw between the open position and the closed position. The firing assembly can actuate the knife between a pre-fired position and a fired position. The firing assembly includes a first body slidably attached to the housing and a second body slidably attached to the arm. The second body couples with the first body when the second jaw is in the closed position. The second body decouples with the first body when the second jaw is in the open position.

The ultrasonic blade is in acoustic communication with an acoustic waveguide of the shaft assembly. The clamp arm assembly is pivotable toward and away from the ultrasonic blade. The clamp arm assembly includes a first electrode and a second electrode. The first and second electrodes are operable to cooperate to apply bipolar RF energy to tissue.
