An instrumentation assembly configured to measure properties of an engine exhaust stream is disclosed in this paper. The instrumentation assembly may include an outer support ring that extends around a central axis, an inner support ring arranged radially inward of the outer support ring around the central axis, and a plurality of instrumentation rake assemblies. The plurality of instrumentation rake assemblies extends from the outer support ring to the inner support ring across an annular passageway defined between the outer support ring and the inner support ring configured to carry the engine exhaust stream.

A system for controlling the clearance distance between an impeller blade tip of a centrifugal compressor and a radially inner surface of an impeller shroud in a turbine engine. The system comprises a high pressure air source, an air piston mounted between an engine casing and the shroud and adapted to receive high pressure air from the high pressure air source, a mounting arm coupling the shroud and air piston, and a slidable coupling adapted to allow axial movement of the shroud and joining the shroud to an axial member.

A system for controlling the clearance distance between an impeller blade tip of a centrifugal compressor and a radially inner surface of an impeller shroud in a turbine engine. The system comprises a thermal driver coupled between the impeller shroud and engine casing by hinged linkages. The thermal driver includes an annular ring and annular seal which together define thermal driver cavity. Relatively warm or relatively cool air supplied to the thermal driver cavity cause expansion and contraction, respectively, of the annular ring which is translated by linkages into axially forward and aft motion, respectively.

In some examples, an apparatus includes a pallet supporting a plurality of workpieces, the pallet including through-holes structured to pass a quenching fluid. In some examples, the apparatus further includes a reservoir of quenching fluid configured to provide the quenching fluid, and a plurality of upturned wall portions extending from the pallet and substantially surrounding the exteriors of the plurality of workpieces. The plurality of upturned wall portions may be located in relative orientation to the plurality of workpieces to regulate heat transfer coefficients of the plurality of workpieces during a quenching operation.

The system comprises a driving mechanism coupled to a portion of a segregated impeller shroud. The driving mechanism comprises a driving arm and threaded axial member configured to translate motion of an actuator ring into axially forward and aft motion of the portion of the segregated impeller shroud.

A power transmission device includes a quill shaft having a first end and a second end, a first shaft engaged with the first end of the quill shaft, and a second shaft engaged with the second end of the quill shaft. An ejector orifice is provided at the second end of the quill shaft distal from the first shaft such that the ejector orifice forms an oblique angle with respect to the quill shaft, and the ejector orifice is adapted to eject a fluid therethrough.

A seal assembly and method of directing fluid flow away from a seal. The seal assembly comprises an inner seal member coupled to a rotatable shaft and an outer seal member which is either rotatable or static. The inner seal member has a plurality of knives spaced apart from each other and extending radially away from the shaft. The outer seal member has a rub surface disposed to abut a terminal edge of at least one of the plurality of knives to thereby form a seal. An outer knife of the plurality of knives of the inner seal member extends axially at an angle and is adapted to direct fluid flow away from the seal.

The system comprises a two-piece integral impeller shroud with a fixed inner member and a variable outer member. According to one aspect, a rotary exhaust valve system includes an arcuate ring having a first plurality of apertures and a rotary valve ring disposed in an overlapping relation with the arcuate ring. The rotary valve ring has a second plurality of apertures forming therein corresponding to at least some of the first plurality of apertures. A first crank is disposed in a first side of the rotary exhaust valve system, and a second crank is disposed in a second side of the rotary exhaust valve system. The second crank is connected to the first crank and the rotary valve ring, and the first crank actuates the second crank and moves the rotary valve ring such that openings of the first plurality of apertures are closed and opened.

An apparatus and method for controlling a clearance between the blades of a turbomachinery component and flow forming surface are disclosed herein, and includes controlling the clearance by moving the surface axially relative to the turbomachinery component. In one embodiment the apparatus includes an impeller rotatable about a first axis, a shroud encircling the impeller, and a first ring encircling the first axis. An actuator is operably engaged with the first ring to pivot the first ring about the first axis. The apparatus also includes at least one cam engaged with the first ring and at least one cam follower engaged with the shroud. Pivoting movement of the first ring about the first axis results in the at least one cam urging the at least one cam follower and the shroud along the first axis to vary a distance between the plurality of blades and the shroud.
