A wireless device may use two communication interfaces that utilize frequencies within the same band. As a result, a first communication interface such as an HDMI interface may interfere with operation of a second communication interface such as a WiFi interface. A conductive member is placed between the communication interfaces to reduce this interference. The conductive member has multiple slots, each slot having dimensions that cause resonance at a frequency used by the first communication interface. The number and spacing of the slots corresponds to the strength of signals used by the second communication interface. Placement of the conductive member between the first and second communication interfaces enables the conductive member to attenuate signals from the second communication interface that would interfere with the frequency used by the first communication interface.

Patterned housing element to reduce interference

Technologies directed to a wireless network device with a single hardware architecture that supports multiple devices roles through software configuration are described. One wireless network device includes a housing with an RF connector and a circuit board with a first radio coupled to an internal antenna and a second radio coupled to an external antenna via the RF connector. The second antenna is mounted on an exterior surface of the building and coupled to the RF connector via an RF cable. The wireless network device receives a command identifying a device role for the wireless network device and configures itself according to the device role using device setting.

Multi-functional, software configurable device for fixed wireless networks

Technologies directed to a control circuit using dynamic signal compression are described. A control circuit includes a front-end module (FEM) coupled to an RF cable, the FEM having a low-noise amplifier (LNA). The control circuit further includes an automatic gain control (AGC) circuitry coupled to the FEM. The AGC circuitry receives a first radio frequency (RF) signal having a first portion of one or more symbols and a second portion of one or more symbols. The AGC circuitry further amplifies the first portion to generate a first portion of an output signal. The AGC circuitry further compresses the second portion to obtain a second portion of the output signal. The AGC circuitry further sends a control signal to cause the FEM to change a gain state value of the LNA from a first value to a second value based on a comparison between a voltage of the output signal and a reference voltage.

Automatic gain control loop (AGC) for wireless local area network (WLAN) communications

Technologies directed to a wireless network with a cascaded star topology with multiple devices at multiples nodes are described. In one wireless network, multiple devices are manufactured as a common device type and deployed at different nodes of the wireless network. The devices are configured to operate as a base station (BS) role, a gateway (GW) role, a relay (RL) role, or a customer station (STA) role. The nodes can be a base station node (BSN), a relay node (RLN), or a customer premises equipment (CPE) node. One node can be a first-tier hub of the cascaded star topology and another node can be a second-tier hub of the cascaded star topology.

Scalable network architecture

Technologies directed to prioritized channel coordination in a multi-tier wireless network are described. One method includes identifying a first group of wireless devices located in a first geographical area using physical proximity information. The method includes, for a first wireless device having a highest priority among the wireless device in the first geographical area, determining a penalty value for each channel of a plurality of available channels and selecting a first channel having a lowest penalty value. The method includes, for a second wireless device having a second-highest priority, determining a penalty value for each of the remaining channels in the plurality of available channels and selecting a second channel, from the remaining channels, having a lowest penalty value. The method includes sending to the first wireless device information about the first channel and sending to the second wireless device information about the second channel.

Multi-tier coordinated channel prioritization system

Technologies directed to a wireless device with RF port impedance detection using concurrent radios are described. One wireless device includes an impedance detection circuit with a bi-directional RF coupler and switching circuitry. A processing device at least two radios, at least two RF ports, and an impedance detection circuit. The impedance detection circuit is configured to measure a first receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) value of a first reflected signal. The first reflected signal corresponding to a first signal sent by one of the at least two radios. The impedance detection circuit determines that the first RSSI value exceeds a threshold. The threshold represents an impedance mismatch condition at or beyond at least one of the two RF ports. The processing device sends a first indicative of the impedance mismatch condition to a second device.

Radio frequency port impedance detection using concurrent radios

Technologies directed to multi-tier coordinated dynamic frequency selection (DFS) service in a multi-tier wireless network are described. One method includes receiving, by a first wireless device, first data associated with a first set of DFS channels. The first wireless device performs a CAC on each DFS channel of the first set of DFS channels in a specified order. The first wireless device identifies a second set of DFS channels in which no radar event is found during the respective CAC and generates second data associated with the second set of DFS channels. The first wireless device receives a first request for the second data from a second wireless device. The first wireless device determines a receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) value associated with the first request and sends a first response, including the second data and the RSSI value, to the second wireless device

Multi-tier coordinated dynamic frequency selection (DFS) system

Technologies directed to cable-loss compensation are described. An apparatus includes a triplexer, a front-end module (FEM) circuit, and a control circuit. The triplexer is coupled to a radio frequency (RF) cable. The triplexer receives a first RF signal and a DC power signal from a device via the RF cable and sends a detection signal being indicative of a transmit power level of the first RF signal to the device via the RF cable. The transmit power level includes an insertion loss of the RF cable. The FEM circuit is coupled to the triplexer and includes a power amplifier (PA). The control circuit is coupled to the triplexer and measures the transmit power level of the first RF signal and converts the first RF signal into the detection signal. The control circuit sends the detection signal back to the device via the RF cable and enables the PA.

Cable loss compensation system for time domain duplexed (TDD) radios using embedded radio frequency (RF) control

Technologies directed to sectorized analog beam searching are described. One method includes a first wireless device receiving a first destination address of a second wireless device, a first angle value corresponding to a first direction, and a second angle value corresponding to a second direction. The first wireless device generates a first signal beam transmitted in the first direction and spanning a first geographic region and receives an RSSI value corresponding to the first signal beam. The first wireless generates a second signal beam transmitted in the second direction and spanning a second geographic region and receives a second RSSI value corresponding to the second signal beam. The first wireless device determines that the first RSSI value is greater than the second RSSI value. The first wireless device determines, using a third signal beam a third angle value corresponding to a third direction located within the first geographic region.

Sectorized analog beam search system

Technologies directed to a wireless network device with a single hardware architecture that supports multiple devices roles through software configuration are described. One wireless network device includes a housing with an RF connector and a circuit board with a first radio coupled to an internal antenna and a second radio coupled to an external antenna via the RF connector. The second antenna is mounted on an exterior surface of the building and coupled to the RF connector via an RF cable. The wireless network device establishes a first wireless link between the first radio and a radio of a second device via the first antenna and a second wireless link between the second radio and a radio of a third device via the second antenna. The second device can be a second wireless network device that is programmed to operate as a gateway, the gateway being mounted outside of the building. The third device is located inside the building can be either a customer premises equipment (CPE) station or a wireless endpoint device. Each of the wireless network device, the second wireless network device, and the CPE station include identical hardware.

Technologies directed to a wireless device with RF port impedance detection using concurrent radios are described. One wireless device includes an impedance detection circuit with a bi-directional RF coupler and switching circuitry. A processing device controls the switching circuitry to i) couple the bi-directional RF coupler between a first radio and a first RF port and a second radio and a second RF port. The processing device causes a first radio to send a first signal and a second radio to measure a first receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) value of a first reflected signal. The processing device determines that the first RSSI value exceeds a threshold, the threshold representing an impedance mismatch condition at or beyond the first RF port. The processing device sends a message indicative of the impedance mismatch condition to a second device.

Technologies directed to antenna disconnection detection of distributed radio frequency (RF) ports in a wireless network are described. One method receives data from the wireless devices and generates an RSSI matrix including multiple elements, each storing a receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) value indicative of a signal strength of a wireless link between a transmitter-receiver pair. The method identifies a characteristic pattern in the RSSI matrix. The characteristic pattern includes i) two or more RSSI values in a same row being less than the threshold value and ii) two or more RSSI values in a same column being less than the threshold value. The method stores an indication that an antenna is disconnected from an RF port and sends a command to the second wireless device that causes the second wireless device to disable a radio that is coupled to the RF port.

Antenna disconnection detection of distributed radio frequency ports in a wireless network

Technologies directed to a wireless device with a Radio Frequency (RF) Decibel-Scaled Wireless Interference Detector that provides accurate energy readings of a channel through decibel-scaled output voltage are described. One method of the wireless device includes receiving a first RF signal via an antenna and converting the first RF signal to a multiple samples using a sampling rate, each sample including a digital value of a decibel-scaled output voltage. The method converts each of the samples to an energy value using a voltage-to-energy lookup table and determines a congestion level of a channel using the energy values.

Radio frequency decibel scaled wireless interference detector

Technology for radios that support single channel, multi-channel, SISO, MIMO, and beamforming communications at millimeter wave frequencies using WLAN transceivers or other IF transceivers. One radio includes a first transceiver configured to generate a first RF signal in a first frequency range; a second transceiver configured to generate a third RF signal in a mm-wave frequency range, the second transceiver is configured to couple to a multi-element antenna for beamforming operations; and conversion circuitry coupled to an output of the first transceiver and an input of the second transceiver. The conversion circuitry is configured to receive the first RF signal from the first transceiver and convert the first RF signal in the first frequency range to a second RF signal in the mm-wave frequency range; and receive the third RF signal from the second transceiver and convert the third RF signal to a fourth RF signal in the first frequency range.
